Alongside the Shadow Beast build-a-figure wave we just covered, Origins is getting a second build-a-figure wave centered around one of the most unexpected deep cuts imaginable: the Masks of Power Demon. If that name rings a bell, it’s because this creature comes straight from the early mini-comics that shipped with the original vintage figures, a piece of MOTU lore that predates the Filmation cartoon and sits in that wonderfully strange, almost barbaric version of Eternia that gave us so much of the mythos we love today. The fact that Mattel is pulling from that era for a build-a-figure speaks volumes about where Origins is headed with this reboot, and I’m genuinely fired up to see it. The six figures making up this wave offer a really compelling mix: Trap Jaw, Zodac, Faker, Teela, Battle Armor He-Man, and Stratos, each coming with a piece of the demon to assemble once you’ve collected the full set. That’s a lineup that hits the sweet spot between core characters collectors always want updated versions of and figures like Zodac who carry serious vintage weight. Between this wave and the Shadow Beast wave, Origins is clearly leaning into a build-a-figure model with new packaging that signals a real shift in how the line is being presented at retail, something we got our first look at during Mattel’s SDCC 2026 booth reveals. I love how both build-a-figure choices pull from deep vintage territory rather than going with obvious picks, and the Masks of Power Demon in particular feels like a reward for collectors who know their mini-comic history. Can’t wait to see how the individual figures in this wave shape up and whether the demon build-a-figure does justice to that classic early artwork.

Zodac’s red chest armor has the signature “H”-shaped emblem with horizontal bars sculpted into the plate, and his helmet features rounded ear pieces flanking the ridged crown. His boots end in sculpted clawed toes, a nice nod to his alien heritage.

Faker Teela’s armor has a heavily segmented, ribbed sculpt wrapping from the headpiece down through the torso, with a beast face worked into the crown of the hood. Her snake staff has a coiled serpent at the top with a forked tongue extending from its open mouth, and the round shield carries an ornate scrollwork pattern pressed into its face.

Battle Armor He-Man carries a double-bladed battle axe with a thick, ringed grip and wide crescent-shaped heads on either side. His chest plate has a recessed emblem window flanked by rounded shoulder caps, and the orange wrist cuffs have a studded, riveted texture.

Faker’s spiked shoulder armor has sharp, blade-like fins fanning outward, with a studded texture running along the chest harness and belt. The sword has an ornate, fan-shaped guard with serrated edges radiating from the grip.

Beast Man’s chest armor has a circular tech emblem sculpted into the sternum, with fur texture spreading outward across the torso in thick, raked striations. His whip has a spiked handle with a long cord trailing down to a pronged tip.

Mer-Man’s torso armor is covered in a fish-scale pattern with scalloped edges, and the belt is a tangled mass of sculpted seaweed-like tendrils draping around the waist. His sword has a bumpy, coral-encrusted texture running the length of the blade, with a crossguard shaped like a pair of small fins.

Stratos has a blue helmet with a sculpted red crest running along the crown, and his feathered wing pieces extend from the upper arms with layered, individually carved plumes tapering to pointed tips. The lower legs have a textured, fur-like sculpt that transitions into smooth white boots.

Trap Jaw’s helmet has a jagged, open-jaw chin guard with teeth-like serrations framing his face, and the skull-and-crossbones buckle on his belt is a fun, classic detail. His boots have a heavy, layered cuff construction with thick straps wrapping around the shins.

The Demon’s reptilian head sculpt has a short, horn-like crest flanking pointed ears, with a snout that tapers to a rounded nose and an open mouth showing small fangs. The fur loincloth has a shaggy, fibrous texture held in place by a studded belt, and the clawed feet have individually sculpted toes tipped with sharp, curved nails.

The Masks of Power Demon has a great reptilian sculpt, with rows of spines running down the back and along the tail, and sharp claws tipped in cream on both the hands and feet. A studded black belt cinches the waist over a tattered fur loincloth, and a matching spiked bracer wraps the wrist, while the open jaw shows off a set of small fangs.
