New MOTU 40th Anniversary Reveals! The final MOTUesday brings us reveals from Mattel’s Masters of the Universe 40th Anniversary Press & Influencer Day

Special thanks to Planet Eternia, Pixel Dan, yo_tengo_el_poder for bringing the coverage of Mattel’s Masters of the Universe 40th Anniversary Press & Influencer Day reveals! Influencers like Planet Eternia and Pixel Dan were onsite and got to participate live in the event and they got to tour Mattel’s facilities! How cool is that! They got a sneak peak into what is coming out for Masters of the Universe this year and in to 2023 so let’s take a look! What a way to end the final MOTUesday then with a boat load of amazing reveals, so let’s dive in!

Masterverse Figures

The Masterverse line is adding a New Adventures Skeletor and a deluxe Man-At-Arms Revelation figure! These both look to be amazingly detailed figures and keep raising the bar for the Masterverse line!

New Adventures Skeletor

The New Adventures Skeletor figure continues the line of New Adventures figures, with this new Skeletor figure! Mattel has done an excellent job translating the New Adventure version of Skletor into the Masterverse line. He comes complete with a removeable helmet, stylized havoc staff, a pair of alternate hands, and a soft goods cape! This second New Adventures figure will open the door for a lot more figures from the New Adventures lin! New Adventures Skeletor is set to be released in the Fall 2023 and will be a Target Exclusive. Man-At-Arms Deluxe Revelation Figure

Man At Arms gets a second version of him made, this time he is older and wiser. This version of Man At Arms comes from later on in the Revelation series when there is the great war, and he comes without his helmet! This version is an older, and more battle worn and will be a deluxe figure. He includes his large lazer canon, MAA Armor, a soft goods cape, an alternate helmeted head and alternate hands. You can switch from his civilian clothing to his battle army outfit.

Mattel Creations MOTU Origins

The Mattel Creations line is adding Frog Monger and He-Skeletor! These will be Mattel Creations exclusives, no confirmation from Mattel yet whether they will have a made to order type sale or not, I think Mattel wants to gauge what the demand will be for these before they make that determination. These are really deep cuts for the MOTU Origins line, so let’s take a look at each!

Frog Monger

Frog Monger is a character that originally comes from one of the creatures from the Castle Grayskull dungeon grate sticker. But Mattel has been sprinkling him on several package artwork throughout the Origins line, so we figured it was just a matter of time before they made him into an official figure! He is a super bright green frog man with yellow spots on his arms and legs. He is wearing a metal collar around his neck and a little antenna beanie on his head. He looks to share some parts with the standard MOTU buck and but with a new torso and creature arms and legs of Skeletor. His face is super cute with bright yellow eyes and big yellow fang teeth. He looks to come with a new weapon and unique comic book. He will come in a typical single card release Mattel Creations style card back with an illustration of Frog Monger on the front and a beautiful art piece on the back. THere looks to be some additional creatures hinted on the back of the card back as well. Perhaps a skeleton warrior and it looks like maybe King Chooblah in the background? He-Skeletor

He-Skeletor might seem like a new character to us in the United States, but he is based on the comic series He-Man and the Masters of the Multiverse from the old German audio plays. In this story, the heroic Keldor transforms from Anti-Eternia into He-Man to defeat Anti-He-Man. Known as the “The Most Powerful Keldor in the Multiverse” includes this new He-Skeletor comes with his power sword, axe, and a shield. Same as the previous Mattel Creations exclusives, he includes an exclusive character illustration on the front of his cardback and full new artwork on the rear of the cardback.The artwork features He-Skeletor raising up his Power Sword with the world of Anti Eternia in the background. He too will also include a new mini comic. He is also set to be released in Spring 2023.

Eternia Playset Update

Today, we also go new information on the crowd fund stretch goals for the Eternia Playset! All backers, who back the Eternia Playset in the first week will get the exclusive King Grayskull figure. Once Eternia reaches 8000 backers, they will receive this exclusive Moat Monster which is fully articulated! This Moat Monster is an homage to a similar creature that was originally a hidden easter egg carved into the vintage Eternia playset. Once Eternia reaches 10,000 backers, everyone who backs the set will receive an exclusive Council of Wise Men Keclar figure! Keclar seems like a new character to all of us here in the US, but he originally appeared in the United Kingdom comic magazines where the Elders were frequently featured. This also helps to tie into the story of Pre-Eternia and can set up a nice tie into to that subline!

MOTU Origins

Finally after all this time, the long awaited Moss Man is finally coming to the Origins line in a big way plus there are in package shots of the Ground Ripper! Snake Mountain was also revealed, which will make MOTU collectors complete and elated!

Deluxe Moss Man

MOTU Origins fans have been asking for him for the longest time, and now our requests have been answered but with a slight twist. We are finally getting a freakin FLOCKED MOSS MAN in the MOTU Origins line and I personally can not be more excited!! After all this time, I have been waiting for Moss Man to join the Origins line, and in the Fall of 2023. The twist however is that he will be a wait for it….. Walmart exclusive! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Now I know everyone heart just sank when I said that, but unfortunately The Lord of the Forests pine smelling friend will only be available through Walmart. Let’s hope they make distribution and pre-ordering easy… Let’s see how that goes. Moss Man will be a deluxe figure give that he will be fully flocked, come with an alternate LOP Style Beast Man head. Mossy’s head looks to be based on the Beast Man head, but he is much more friendlier looking with a big smile on his face looking very Filmation like! They nailed it with this head sculpt! He will also include his vintage style club, yellow Beast Man armor as an homage to those that used to put this weapons pack armor on their Mossy’s, and also a brown Pig Head club as well.

Ground Ripper and Mekaneck

The packaging for the Ground Ripper Mekaneck 2 pack was also unveiled as well. Now this is still the Road Ripper, but for copyright issues, they had to go with the Ground Ripper name. We can see that the box features an homage to the vintage design with Mekaneck (instead of He-Man) tearing away from Castle Grayskull! This set comes with the Ground Ripper (back in the day it was called the Road Ripper) with an alternate head for the vehicle and Mekaneck with a neck extension piece and his famous yellow mace. This version of Mekaneck does not have his twisting, telescoping action feature so think of this figure as an homage to the MOTU Classics design where they gave him two neck pieces.

Snake Mountain

Again, another long-awaited fan favorite was revealed today as well! After all this time, we are finally getting a Snake Mountain in the MOTU Origins line! Pictured here was a prototype of Snake Mountain, but so far it looks to be really cool and loaded with brand new play features! There needs to be some more tweaking to the snake design and coloring of the mountain in the front, but what they unveiled today looks so exciting! Let’s take a look at all the goodies it has to offer. At first glance, we can see that they have added the mountain peak to the design so that it resembles the Snake Mountain from the Filmation cartoon a little more closely, but the design still retains those signature features from the vintage playset we all know and love! The classic monster face is still sculpted into the front of the mountain and includes a working jaw. We still have that fun suspension bridge, but this time it looks to have widened so that it can be walkable for your figures! It leads to steps that go up to the gate of Snake Mountain which has that classic wolfs head on the gate. And inside is a ladder similar to that one of Castle Grayskull The cave is also still present near the bottom as well. On the inside we have the wolf speaker but does not include electronics associated with it and instead we got added play features on the inside. We have for the first time in Origins, Skeletor’s bone throne! We also get an all-new weapons rack as well. And next to the rotatable wolf and bone throne is a trap door that leads to a jail cell., so no more safety net to fall into. The coolest part of this new Snake Mountain in my opinion is the new “Acid Lake”. which has 3D removeable creatures into that attach to pegs. It turns out that these pegs work in the peg holes of the torso of the Origins figures, so you can detach you figures at the torso and place them on the lake, so it looks like they are sinking inside!
