We were lucky enough to get our hands on a Masterverse Soceress figure and I the Toy Sorceress see it only fitting to review my namesake character. So get ready our Masterverse Revelation Soceress In Hand Review! The Sorceress was revealed at this year’s SDCC and she looked like she was straight out of the Revelation cartoon.! Complete in her classic orange, blue and white outfit, Mattel really captured the essence of the classic Sorceress we all know and love, but with a bit of that Revelation animated feel. She includes her signature white bird staff and even comes with a soft goods cape! Personally, I am super excited about this figure, but why won’t I be, I’m the Toy Sorceress! ! Let’s take a close look at the guardian of Castle Grayskull and the Toy Sorceress’s most favorite MOTU character and name sake! Abosutely love this one, let’s go!!!!

Here we can see the Sorceress in all her birdly glory in an actual in hand figure! Mattel did a spectacular job translating the animated version of the Sorceress into an action figure! Also, you can see that Mattel choose to homage the vintage figure by using the molded feathers on her skirt! Her headdress is also in the classic style with the white falcon with orange accents and a blue beak. I think she turned out gorgous and is one of the best Masterverse Revelation style figures to date! But I am a bit bias…. LOL.. says the Toy Sorceress!

Packaging
The Sorceress looks amazing in her all her glory on the back of the box as she stands proud as the protector of Castle Grayskull! With the secret powers flowing through her, she looks majestic and wise! The back of the box reads: “With the magic of Eternia waning, Sorceress’s powers fade. She holds on to the last remaining ember of magic with what is left of her might and reaches out for help from an unlikely ally: Evil-Lyn. Though Sorceress remains at Castle Grayskull powerless and venerable, her faith in her allies is stronger than ever! She knows that soon magic will return to Eternia and with it, her strength.”
The Soceress comes packed with 2 alternate hands, her white bird staff and a removeable cape. Here we can see all the beautiful detail in her cape. They retained the orange and blue feathered design and even included loops for the cape to attach to her arms to give it that open “winged” look when she is wearing it!

Sorceress up close and personal
Here we can see my fav Sorceress in her magestic glory from all angles. Her soft goods winged cape attached to her arms with two loops on either side so when you raise her arms, her cape raises with it. The cape is in her classic blue and orange colors, with a tattered edge and multi-layred design as to give it more of that layered feathered look. You can see how her headdress drapped around her shoulders as well. She looks absolutely beautiful in her classic blue, white and orange outfit! Just love how she turned out and I feel so lucky to have her in hand!

The face on this version of the Sorceress looks absolutely beautiful! I am so happy with how her face turned out! She has a stern but wise and kind look all at the same time. The eyes and makeup on her also look fantastic! And she has a very animated but classic look at the same time!
In a perfect homage to the vintage character, The Sorceress is wearing her classic falcon white, orange and blue headdress on her head.

Mattel did a fantastic job capturing the likeness of the animated Sorceress from the Revelation series! She looks her age so to speak as the previous versions of the Sorceress look a lot younger. She comes with her classic staff, a soft goods cape, and an extra set of hands!

Soceress on the Revelation Cartoon
Pictured below, you can see images of the Sorceress from the Netflix Masters of the Universe Revelation Cartoon. Mattel did an amazing job, recreating the look of her! I think they blended the look of her face perfectly with both that strong animated look, but kind and beautiful at the same time.

The Filmation Sorceress
On the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon of the 1980’s the Sorceress was the wise protector of Castle Grayskull. She was always summoning He-Man’s help to protect the Castle from Skeletor and he evil henchmen!
According to Sorceress of Castle Grayskull – Wikipedia
In the Filmation series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the Sorceress is the mistress and guardian of the Secrets of Castle Grayskull, the source of He-Man’s great power. With a vast knowledge of magic and history, she is among the wisest beings on Eternia. He-Man often seeks her counsel, especially when situations are at their worst. In the Filmation series, the Sorceress demonstrates saintly qualities such as humility and appears to other characters who are in need of guidance. However, since her powers are tied to Castle Grayskull, they weaken when she leaves its walls. When she does need to travel, though, she generally assumes the form of a falcon known as Zoar. This weakness was removed from the character with the re-emergence of the Three Towers of Eternia, allowing her to travel freely in her human form. The Sorceress is also the mother of Teela, a childhood friend of Prince Adam and Captain of the Royal Guard, whose aggressive temperament is a far cry from that of her soft-spoken mother. When Teela was an infant, the Sorceress gave her to Duncan (Man-At-Arms), to raise as his own, because the Sorceress felt that Castle Grayskull was too dangerous a place for her daughter to be raised. In the episode “Teela’s Quest”, Teela sets out to discover the truth of her mother from The Oracle of the Crystal Sea. She succeeds, but the Sorceress erases the revelation from Teela’s memory for her own good, even though she desperately wishes she could tell her the truth. Other than Man-At-Arms, the only others who share the secret are He-Man, Battle Cat, and the Oracle of the Crystal Sea. It is also established in this episode that the Sorceress’ daughter is destined to someday take her place as the magical guardian of Castle Grayskull.
Sorceress of Castle Grayskull – Wikipedia

The real name of the current Sorceress is Teela-Na. Her history is revealed in the 1984 episode “The Origin of the Sorceress”, in which her past nemesis Morgoth returns and attacks Eternia. While waiting for Morgoth to reappear, the Sorceress explains to He-Man how she became the guardian of Castle Grayskull. Her home, the village of Nowella, was attacked, and subsequently conquered, by Morgoth and his allies Ferros, Repta, and Rachney, servants of the Evil Horde, although they were not mentioned by that name until later on. With the aid of an old storyteller’s rhyme (In barren places find ye hope/And where no water flows, no plant grows, no wind blows/Find all you need…), Teela Na sought out Castle Grayskull, which she hoped would help her find a way to defeat her captors. Just as she was about to succumb to the Eternian wastelands, the mystical fortress appeared before Teela Na’s eyes, and she was invited inside by a mysterious voice. Once inside she came across an old woman named Kuduk Ungol, her predecessor as the Sorceress.[4] Kuduk invited her to take up the mantle of Castle Grayskull’s protector, which she accepts and is imbued with the powers of Castle Grayskull. Once she had taken her place as the guardian of Castle Grayskull, the Sorceress returned to Nowella and overthrew the invaders before returning to her new home inside Castle Grayskull. Kuduk Ungol was gone by this time, her fate unrevealed.

Vintage Soceress
The Vintage Sorceress was released in 1987 by Mattel as part of the last of the line before it came to an end in the 1980’s. Outfitted in her classic blue, orange and white outf, she is the quintessential version for any MOTU collector! You can see a mint carded version below, and in this final wave, Mattel had chosen to add an illustration of the character to the front of the card art which I really enjoyed! The loose version pictured below is my Sorceress figure from my own personal collection and she is stunning!
