Figure Details

The New Adventure Skeletor figure represents his appearance in the New Adventures of He-Man animated series, which aired in 1990. In this series, the story is set in the distant future of Eternia, where He-Man (the main protagonist) and Skeletor battle once again. Skeletor’s appearance in this series features some notable changes from his original design. He now sports a more futuristic outfit consisting of matching blue armor and an updated skull-faced helmet. The figure faithfully replicates this look with its sculpted details and vibrant coloring. I really love his bright colors, and his more slender, taller body design and it pays beautiful homage to the original vintage figure.

Head

New Adventures Skeletor’s head has a ton of reeally cool detail. He has his signature skull face, with nice black eyes and red pupils. His teeth have a nice black wash on them to outline their shape. Unlike most Skeletor figures, on this one, just like his vintage counterpart, you can see the back of his head. It’s got some green and teal colors on it, and looks kind of like hair strands in the front. But in the back of his skull reveals a bio techno device with some conduits running off it. He comes with a nice nickel colored helmet that is designed to resemble the vintage one. There is a skull on the front, and some nice vented details on the side. Then there are some raised louvred portions along the sides.

Animated New Adventures of He Man Cartoon

The New Adventures of He-Man” was an animated television series that aired from 1990 to 1991. It is a spin-off and continuation of the popular He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series, which originally ran from 1983 to 1985. In this reboot, the storyline is set on the planet Primus, which is divided into two factions: the peaceful and technology-driven Galactic Guardians and the evil villain Skeletor and his Mutants. He-Man, the main protagonist, is summoned from the planet Eternia to help defend Primus against Skeletor’s forces.

The show introduces numerous new characters, both heroic and villainous. He-Man is now called “He-Man, Space Adventurer” and is accompanied by a team of Galactic Guardians, including his new allies Flipshot, Hydron, and Kayo. They have futuristic technology and vehicles to aid them in their battles against Skeletor and the Mutants.

The show also explores a different dynamic between He-Man and Skeletor. Skeletor is initially not aware of He-Man’s identity and views him merely as a powerful force that opposes him. He-Man, on the other hand, struggles with the weight of his responsibilities and doubts about his own abilities.

“The New Adventures of He-Man” had a more futuristic and science fiction-oriented theme compared to its predecessor, which had a more fantasy-based setting. The animation style and character designs were updated to reflect this change, with a more streamlined and modern look.

Despite its changes, the show didn’t achieve the same level of popularity as its predecessor. It ran for only one season and was eventually replaced by another He-Man animated series titled “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” in 2002.

In conclusion, “The New Adventures of He-Man” is a reboot of the original He-Man series, set in a futuristic world and featuring new characters and a different dynamic between He-Man and Skeletor. While it didn’t gain the same level of success, it remains an interesting continuation of the He-Man franchise.

Vintage New Adventures Skeletor

The vintage New Adventures of He-Man Skeletor action figure was based on the animated TV series “The New Adventures of He-Man,” which aired in 1990. This version of Skeletor represents the character’s updated appearance for the new series.

The action figure stands at approximately 5.5 inches tall and is made of durable plastic. It features multiple points of articulation, allowing for various poses and play options. Skeletor is depicted wearing a blue and purple bodysuit with vibrant yellow accents, representing his futuristic makeover in the show.

The figure comes with several accessories, including Skeletor’s iconic Havoc Staff, a purple sword, and other gadgets to enhance playability. Additionally, the action figure usually includes a collectible trading card featuring artwork, character information, and a brief description of Skeletor.

This vintage action figure is highly sought after by collectors due to its nostalgic value and limited availability. The New Adventures of He-Man Skeletor action figure remains a popular choice among fans of the original animated series, providing them with a tangible piece of their childhood memories.

MOTU Classics Comparison

The MOTU Classics New Adventures Skeletor figure stands at approximately 7 inches tall, maintaining the same scale as other MOTU Classics figures. Although the MOTU Classics versions stands 7″ tall, you can see that the Masterverse figure stands taller and is much slenderer in stature like its vintage counterpart. The MOTU Classics figure comes with a plastic removable cape, whereas the Masterverse version has a cloth soft goods cape.

What sets the MOTU Classics line apart from other Skeletor figures is its meticulous attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship. The figure is constructed from durable materials and features intricate sculpting, capturing the essence of the character’s design from the New Adventures of He-Man series. Although the detailing on the MOTU Classics figure might be much more detailed, the new Masterverse version with its bright colors, and slender design harkens back to the original, and I really like that about it. Between the two figures, the Masterverse version does a better job at paying homage to the original vintage figure.

NA Skeletor DPCI / TCIN

The New Adventures Masterverse Skeletor is the only remaining figure from the March 2023 reveals where the release date has eluded us until today! With some sleuthing at the local Target store, we discovered the DPCI, TCIN, and set date for the New Adventures Masterverse Skeletor. If you scan this figure up in Target’s systems, the code name for this figure is “Masters of the Universe Masterverse Custom Figure” which we are guessing they labeled it like this to avoid people like us leaking this info but we outsmarted them. We fully expect this figure to drop for Target’s Summer Geek out and maybe they will just release it for sale, versus putting the figure up for preorder) as it is odd that they have not put this figure up for sale and chose to put NA Deluxe Masterverse Slush Head and New Eternia Whiplash up for preorder.

According to Target’s internal systems, the set date for New Adventures Skeletor is July 30, 2023, which is at the end of this month. We picked him up today July 28th, so he should be hitting Target Shelves now.
