Megator Masters of the Universe Trademark Renewal Filed
Big news is stirring for Masters of the Universe Origins fans, and this one is HUGE and bound to get collectors excited! Mattel has officially filed to renew the trademark for Megator, the towering giant from the vintage Powers of Grayskull line, and this move has us hopeful that Mattel Creations is gearing up to finally bring him to the MOTU Origins line. We know that the MOTU Origins vintage line is far from being completed and that Megator will likely be a long ways away, we are searching high and low for what could be next. While a trademark renewal doesn’t confirm that a figure is immediately in the works, it does secure the rights to the Megator name for the foreseeable future, which is a huge step in keeping the character alive and ready for potential release. For those who remember, Megator was one of the colossal figures released back in the late 1980s, and his inclusion would be a major milestone in completing the vintage MOTU Origins collection, which is being finished out on Mattel Creations. As always, these filings give us a tantalizing glimpse of what Mattel could have in store, and I for one am beyond excited to see if this means the giants are getting closer to coming to becoming a reality.

Megator’s trademark had previously been renewed on November 11, 2021, keeping the name secured under Mattel’s ownership. This earlier renewal ensured that the giant villain remained protected for potential future use in the Masters of the Universe brand.

Megator
Megator, was the second of the two giants last produced for the Vintage Masters of the Universe Line, and was prominently featured on the front of the card back art spinning his giant spiked mace! Megator bursts onto the scene in the Camo Khan card art with a towering, muscular green frame and wild black hair flowing as he swings a massive spiked mace. His harness, adorned with a skull emblem, and matching wrist and belt armor are classic and you can really see the raw power in his clenched fists and flexed muscles as he charges forward.

Megator, the Evil Giant Destroyer, was one of the final Masters of the Universe figures released in 1988. Alongside Titus, he was one of only two giants in the line and remains among the rarest vintage MOTU figures, having been released exclusively in Europe, with most distribution in Italy. Originally planned for the “Powers of Grayskull” spin-off, both giants ultimately hit shelves under the main Masters of the Universe branding. Standing an impressive 15 inches tall, Megator featured real rooted hair, a spring-loaded right leg for a kicking action, and came equipped with a spiked ball and chain weapon.
