Huge thanks to masterversal_toyhunter for the official images of the new Masters of the Universe Mighty Masters figures with pull back action features hitting shelves in New Zealand! As someone who grew up loving that 1980s MOTU magic, I get a real kick out of seeing Mattel experiment with these kid focused, action driven versions of He-Man and Skeletor. The reported retail price is $12.99 NZD, which converts to roughly $7.75 USD at current exchange rates, making these an affordable entry point for younger fans or for collectors who simply want to check out the gimmick driven format. Each case reportedly includes six figures, with He-Man and Skeletor appearing to anchor the assortment, while Beast-Man and Man-At-Arms are more limited in their packed ratios, creating a bit of a chase dynamic right out of the gate. I really hope that we get to see these state side! Perhaps they will be revealed by Mattel at Toy Fair this weekend. In the meantime, let’s check out the Mighty Masters MOTU Mini Figures official images!

I cannot believe how close we are to Toy Fair and yet product is already showing up at retail because thanks to masterversal_toyhunter (and Toy Hunters Hollow and Mega Jay Retro for the assists), we now have confirmed sightings of the new Masters of the Universe Mighty Masters figures with pull back action features hitting shelves in New Zealand. I have to say, it is wild to see product quietly land like this without the usual fanfare, and it definitely makes Toy Fair feel even more unpredictable this year. If this is any indication of what Mattel has in store, we could be in for a very busy season of Masters of the Universe news.

Pull Back Action Feature Demo
As if the throwback design wasn’t enough, I’ve also got a quick video here showing the pull back action feature in motion with both He-Man and Beast Man. It’s one thing to see the callout on the box, but watching them roll forward after that wind up really brings this Mighty Masters concept to life.
He-Man and Skeletor
The Mighty Masters He-Man and Skeletor come packed in compact red window boxes that let you see the full figure right through the front panel, with Masters of the Universe Mighty Masters branding across the lower half and their names printed clearly underneath the window. He-Man is displayed with his classic harness and sword, while Skeletor shows off his purple armor and green skull face, both secured upright inside the tray. In the upper left corner of each box there is a circular graphic that highlights their pull back action feature, showing a small illustrated version of the figure in motion, which feels like a nod to their vintage era play patterns but presented in a new, simplified format for this smaller scale line.

The side panels feature full character artwork that runs vertically along the box, with Skeletor shown in his purple hood and armor, glowing green skull face front and center, and He-Man illustrated with his harness, sword strapped behind him, and Castle Grayskull rising in the background. Even at this smaller box size, the artwork is richly colored with deep purples, fiery reds, and bright blues that really pop against the darker Eternian backdrop. I have to give it to the design team, they didn’t scale back the impact just because the packaging is compact, the art still feels mega sized from top to bottom.

The opposite side panel uses a bright yellow layout to break down the action feature and contents in a simple stacked format. At the top, there are illustrated callouts showing each figure in motion with curved red arrows that demonstrate the pull back feature, followed by another image showing the weapon in hand. Below that, the contents section lists the figure and accessory, with a small image of the character and their included weapon so you know exactly what comes in the box. It’s clean, easy to read, and very reminiscent of vintage side panel callouts, just tightened up to fit this smaller package size.

The back of the packaging keeps things very straightforward with a mostly text based layout covering safety warnings, multilingual information, and manufacturing details. There are no character images or big graphics here, just blocks of fine print and compliance logos filling the space. Along the bottom you get a clear view of the UPC barcode, which is easy to spot and useful if you need to have it scanned in store to check availability.

Seeing the MOTU Origins He-Man next to the new Mighty Masters He-Man really puts the scale into perspective. The Origins figure towers over him with a much taller build and broader overall presence, while the Mighty Masters version stands significantly shorter, almost like a condensed take on the same character. What’s impressive is that even at the reduced height, the smaller figure still carries the classic harness with the red cross emblem, orange wrist bracers, brown boots with yellow fur trim, and that familiar blond haircut, just simplified and tightened up to fit the mini format.

Man-At-Arms and Beast Man
Man-At-Arms and Beast Man are shown here in their Mighty Masters window boxes, each standing upright inside the compact red packaging with the figure clearly visible through the front panel. Man-At-Arms displays his teal bodysuit, orange armor, and helmet with face guard, while Beast Man shows off his bright orange body, blue trunks, and fang filled grin. In the upper left corner of each box, the circular graphic highlights their pull back action feature with a small illustrated version of the character in motion, keeping that vintage inspired play pattern front and center even in this smaller format.

The side panels on these boxes feature full character artwork that runs vertically and really leans into that classic Eternian fantasy style. Man-At-Arms is illustrated with his blue helmet and orange armor, mechanical details across his chest, and a cityscape rising behind him. Beast Man’s panel shows his red fur, blue face markings, sharp fangs, and chained harness medallion, with jagged mountains in the background. The colors are bold and saturated, and even on this smaller scale box, the artwork fills the entire side panel with no empty space.

The opposite side panels use a bright yellow layout to clearly show the action feature in a step by step visual format. At the top, illustrated versions of Man-At-Arms and Beast Man are shown with curved red arrows indicating the pull back motion, followed by a second image demonstrating the movement after release. Below that, the contents section lists what’s included, with a small image of the figure and their accessory so you can see exactly what comes in the box. The layout is simple and very direct, focusing on play value and contents without any extra graphics.

The bottom of the back panel clearly shows the UPC barcode for each figure, and that can be a huge help when you’re hunting these down in stores. If you can’t find them on the shelf, having an associate scan the UPC can quickly tell you if they have any in the back or if more are expected in shipment. It’s a small detail on the box, but for collectors tracking these down, that barcode can make the search a lot easier.

Mighty Masters Man-At-Arms stands noticeably shorter than the standard Masters of the Universe figures around him, barely reaching their waists, which really highlights that compact mini scale. Even at the reduced size, he keeps that classic vintage look with the teal bodysuit, orange chest armor and shoulder guard, brown trunks, and matching brown boots. The helmet with the orange face guard and the small mace accessory are straight out of the original design, just tightened up into a smaller format, and I’ve got to say it’s wild seeing all that familiar detail shrunk down but still instantly recognizable on the shelf.

Mighty Masters Beast Man is standing front and center and right away I can see how he scales next to the larger Masters of the Universe figures, coming in at a much shorter, almost mini companion size while still keeping that classic silhouette. He’s got the bright orange body, light blue trunks, red wrist bracers, and that familiar snarling face with white fangs and blue chest emblem that mirrors the vintage look almost beat for beat, just compressed down into a smaller format. I love how they kept the proportions and details so close to the original figure, it really feels like someone hit the shrink ray on the 80s release and dropped him right onto the shelf.
