MOTU Origins and MOTU Chronicles 2027 Early Information

This is the kind of news that a lot of us have been waiting to hear, and it comes at just the right time as SDCC 2026 is right around the corner. We’ve received early intel from an anonymous source that gives us a look at what’s ahead for both the MOTU Origins and MOTU Chronicles figure lines in 2027, and the headline here is one that should make a lot of collectors very happy: Mattel appears to be ramping down the heavy movie push that has dominated recent waves and refocusing both lines on non-movie Masters of the Universe figures. That shift back to the roots of what makes these lines so beloved is exactly what many of us have been hoping for, because while the movie tie-in releases have had their moments, there’s a deep well of classic characters, designs, and lore that collectors have been eager to see prioritized again. The MOTU Origins information we’ve received is surprisingly specific, though we don’t yet know which particular sub-lines the figures fall under, so there’s still a layer of mystery to unpack as more details surface. On the MOTU Chronicles side, the details are thinner for now, but one name that keeps coming up is Clawful, which lines up with earlier intel we shared about Clawful heading to the Chronicles line and makes it increasingly likely that he’ll be among the non-movie figures seeing release in 2027. With SDCC 2026 so close, we’re hoping to see some of these names and concepts realized in plastic very soon, and I’ll be keeping a close eye on everything that comes out of the show. The prospect of both Origins and Chronicles leaning back into the classic MOTU universe is genuinely exciting, and 2027 is shaping up to be a year where these lines get back to what collectors fell in love with in the first place.

2027 Early Intel

The intel we go for the Chronicles line is pretty spare as the figure names we saw were simply labeled simply as Figure 1, Figure 2, and Figure 3, with no character names or specific details revealed yet. The three confirmed figure slots for the wave are listed here, and we’ll have to fill in the blanks as time goes on. As we reported back on May 9, 2026, Clawful is headed for the MOTU Chronicles and could be part of this assortment, and hopefully we’ll hear more before SDCC 2026, so we’ll keep everyone posted if we do.

MOTU Chronicles 2027 Early Information Pre SDCC 2026

Whether these will land as MOTU Origins proper, 200x MOTU Origins, or an entirely new MOTU Origins subline is still unknown, but the figure slots themselves are confirmed. While the exact direction of the line remains unclear, the figure names themselves may be the biggest clue coming out of these early listings. At this stage, we know that He-Man, Beast Man, and Battle Armor Man-At-Arms are associated with a 2027 Wave 1 assortment. What we don’t know yet is whether these will be traditional MOTU Origins releases, 200x-inspired Origins figures, or part of an entirely new Origins subline that Mattel has yet to officially announce. The product descriptions currently only identify the character names, leaving plenty of room for speculation about the style, tooling, and overall direction of the line. Battle Armor Man-At-Arms is particularly noteworthy because it points to a specific character variant rather than a standard release, suggesting Mattel may be looking beyond simple core character refreshes. Whether that means vintage-inspired updates, 200x interpretations, or something entirely new remains to be seen.
