MOTU Origins Slime Pit Revealed and Confirmed

We’ve been keeping an eye on this one and it’s finally here in full color. Back in December 2025, we shared early intel that a Slime Pit was on the way for MOTU Origins, and now In Demand Toys has pulled back the curtain with official images that confirm the playset is very much real and very much happening. Feast your eyes on the Origins take of one of the most iconic and gloriously gross playsets from the vintage Masters of the Universe line, a piece that defined an entire era of Eternian villainy and gave every kid a reason to ruin their carpet in the late 1980s. The original Slime Pit was one of those toys that transcended the action figure hobby because it wasn’t just a display piece or a backdrop, it was an experience, and seeing Mattel bring that concept into the Origins aesthetic is the kind of thing that hits the sweet spot for collectors who grew up pouring green slime over Hordak’s helpless victims. From what we can see in the images, the sculpt looks like it carries over the spirit of the vintage mold while fitting right in with the scale and style that Origins has established, and I’m really into how this rounds out the playset offerings for the line in a way that gives it more depth beyond figures and vehicles. This is the kind of release that reminds you why MOTU Origins has been such a rewarding line to follow, going from whispered intel months ago to a full reveal that lands exactly the way you hoped it would. Can’t wait to see pricing and availability details as they come in.

The MOTU Origins Slime Pit Playset has finally been revealed, confirming what we reported back in December 2025. The playset features a rocky base with a red-framed doorway, a large beast skull perched on top, and skeletal claws reaching outward from the sides, with a He-Man figure (sold separately) positioned at the center surrounded by a glowing slime effect.

These newly revealed images from In Demand Toys give us our best look yet. The stone doorway features a sculpted face embedded in the rockwork, flanked by those iconic skeletal arms with their bony, clawed fingers.

Early Intel From December 2025

It looks like the Horde Invasion is roaring into 2026, and I can’t tell you how fired up I am to finally say this out loud because it feels like we’ve all been waiting forever: a MOTU Origins Slime Pit is officially in the works! As someone who grew up loving those compact, small form factor playsets, hearing that this iconic set is coming back instantly brought back that rush of nostalgia. And get this…according to an anonymous source, it will actually come with slime! Yes, real slime. I mean, what would a Slime Pit even be without slime, right? That gooey, messy, glorious drench-your-figure mayhem is practically its whole identity, and the fact that they’re leaning into that is amazing! No word on whether a Zombie Slime Pit He-Man is also in the works but they would be silly not to make one! We’ve been tracking ALL of the Slime Pit teases and we never thought this day would coWith the Horde tightening its grip on Eternia heading into 2026, this feels like the perfect addition to keep the invasion energy going, and I’m already imagining how wild the official reveal is going to be and I can’t wait to dig deeper into everything this set offers once more details surface, but for now, knowing it exists is exciting enough to keep the hype train rolling into the new year. For now, let’s take a trip down memory lane!

The Slime pit itself has already been teased to us on the spectacular artwork that housed the amazing 2021 Power-Con Horde 4 pack, as we covered in our article What MOTU Vehicles and Playsets are Next in the Origins Line? If Slime Pit He-man is being Teased in this mini comic, and we have already seen the Slime Pit in a major piece of packaging artwork, you start to put the pieces together and it looks like a forgone conclusion right? Tracking all of the teases has finally paid off and we are so thrilled that Mattel will be producing this for fans!

According to the Wiki Grayskull

The Slime Pit is the name of two different Masters of the Universe locations. The original Slime Pit was released with the original Mattel storyline, with the other coinciding with the MYP/Four Horsemen MOTU series in 2003. Both locations were made as playsets for the toylines and both playsets came with sticky green slime for play value. The original Slime Pit belongs to the Evil Horde, it is a dinosaur skull-shaped device and a claw, which Hordak uses to trap Eternian Warriors inside it. The dinosaur head then tips forward to coat its unfortunate victim with slime. In the In the MOTU universe, the effect of the slime transforms everyone covered by it into a lumbering, mindless slime-monster, stripped of their own free will, and instead carrying out Hordak’s evil bidding.

The Slime Pit playset was released in 1986 and jumped on that 1980’s slime craze band wagon, like so many other toys back then! It was the Lair of the Evil Horde to torture their unsuspecting victims.

It was a fairly simple playset; a dinosaur claw would come out of a pit and hold your figure in place to lay wait for the oncoming slime that fed from a dinosaur skull above.

Mattel had also sold separate containers of Horde branded slime, so that you could constantly keep your slime pit well stocked.
