New Eternia Kobra Khan Masterverse In Hand Images & Snakemen Teases
Huge thanks to The Man Child for sending us photos of the Masterverse New Eternia Kobra Khan! Not only does Kobra Khan look spectacular, he also comes with a hood attachment and clawed hands! Plus his packaging teases two new Snakemen characters! That’s right, the packaging has images of both Tung Lashor and Rattlor on the box! This is super exciting to think we might be getting those in the Mastereverse line. Kobra Khan being the first of the Snakemen release falls in line with how he was also released in the vintage line. So without further ado, let’s take a look at these New Eternia Kobra Khan Masterverse in hand images and Snakemen teases thanks to The Man Child !

Be sure to check out The Man Child’s video review, you can watch it here:
Here we can see the stunning packaging art from the from and rear. The cool thing about this art work is that the front of the package clearly teases Tung Lashor!

Here we can see the beautiful art on the sides of the box. One side clearly teases Rattlor! Can this mean we are getting more Snake Men coming to the line? The other side has illustrations of Kobra Khan with both his hooded and unhooded heads.

Views of Kobra Khan with his regular hands and articulated clawed hands. He also includes his classic green club and an orange blaster rifle.

You can see that you can remove the Snakemen logo from his chest and replace it with a plain chest piece that gives him more of his vintage figure look.

Here you can see how Kobra Khan looks like with both his vintage chest plate piece and the Snake Men logo on his chest as well.

If you take the small piece off the back of Kobra Khan’s head, you can attach his hooded head piece to it in that notch shown.

Another view on how the Kobra Khan with his hooded head piece attaches is below. Plus you can see the accessories he comes with. You can attach the spray effect piece to his blaster rifle.

Close ups of New Eternia Masterverse Kobra Khan with his hooded head piece on. You also get good views of his Snake Men logo chest plate and his articulated jaw.

Kobra Khan MOTU Classics
Kobra Khan was released in 2012 in the MOTU Classics packaging can obscure the head sculpt, particularly the second head, but for MOC collectors, the consistent design is important. For those who open their figures, this is not an issue. His bio reads, “A descendent of the ancient Snake Men, Khan became fascinated with the many legends of their victories in the Great Wars. Breaking into the archives of Eternos Palace, he learned that the great King Hssss had been locked in the Void at the end of the war. In a ruse to free his King, Khan joined forces with Skeletor and, with the help of Evil-Lyn, they acquired Zodak’s staff, the key to freeing his Snake Men brethren. Together he and Evil-Lyn opened the Snake Pit portal releasing Hssss and his ageless army, returning their terror to Eternia. Khan went on to loyally serve Hssss, controlling his prey with his evil hypnotic mist!”

For the March 2012 release, Kobra Khan, the ambassador between Skeletor and Hssss, has been included. This character has appeared in both the original series and the 2002 reboot, and the new release features subtle references to both versions of the show.

Tung Lashor
Tung Lashor Vintage Figure
Tung Lashor, first introduced by Mattel in 1986, was the first of the Snake Men to be released. He was made of all new parts and resembled the look of a poison dart frog, more than a snake. He featured a unique 3 figured hand design that resembled a tree frog. His bright pink and purple colored body really stood out and he sported a green Snake Men logo on his chest. He come with his own distinct action feature, his signature lashing tongue! This action feature was activated by rolling the wheel on his back and it made the tongue dart in and out of Tung Lashor’s mouth. He came with a purple snake staff and teal colored dragon fly cross bow.
According to the Wiki Grayskull
Tung Lashor was introduced into the MOTU toyline in 1986. He first appears in the “King of the Snake Men” minicomic, in which he and Rattlor are called from another dimension by King Hiss. When they appear, Kobra Khan says they “are from the Evil Horde on Etheria!”, but both Snake Men swear allegiance again to their former leader King Hiss, explaining that after his banishment they felt they had nowhere to go other than to serve the Horde.
Although the Snake Men as a group never appear on the toy-line’s accompanying cartoon series Tung Lashor appears in She-Ra as a member of the Evil Horde. He is one of several newer characters from the toy line to be featured on the She-Ra’s Princess of Power cartoon series in order to promote the toy in the absence of the He-Man series, discontinued to make way for She-Ra.

Origins vs. Vintage & Classics Comparison
As you can see, Mattel did an excellent job in recreating the look and charm of the vintage Tung Lashor figure, but with modern MOTU Origins 16 points of articulation. The one glaring difference between the two is the lack of the action feature on the MOTU Origins one. Obviously, the design of the new Tung Lashor now has a ball jointed neck so he can look up, down and all around, where the vintage’s head didnt move because the tung action feature was activated through the mouth by scrolling the wheel on his back. So, in one case we get a fun tongue “lashing” action feature on the vintage figure, but on the other hand, we get all the modern posing and interchangeable parts we have come to expect and love out of the MOTU Origins figures. So, which do you prefer? Guess to each their own. For me, the jury is still out!

Comparisons of the Origins and Vintage Tung Lashor.

Here we can see the MOTU Origins Tung Lashor next to the MOTU Classics version. They are very similar in style, both without any action feature, but the Classics version came with swappable heads, rather than a tongue insert. But in either case they both resemble their vintage counterpart.

Rattlor
Unveiled on March 19, 2022 during their live stream, CANAL DOS ROSMINEIROS, revealed the first of Snake Men coming to Origins back in 2023 were none other than Rattlor . A completely new sculpt, Rattlor’s body was a little smaller than the standard MOTU figure to accommodate his cool extending neck action feature. He features a similar tail, like Whiplash, but it is attached at his mid back versus his shoulders. The snake markings on his arms and legs add some depth and dimension to this mostly maroon red snake and he’s got a gaggle of yellow abs in classic MOTU fashion.

Release in 2012, the MOTU Classics line also released a Rattlor figure which is more to scale with the Masterverse line.
