SDCC 2023 Reveals
These new figures were on display at this year’s SDCC 2023, and they look incredible! It’s amazing to finally see Mon Mothma in vintage style figure form!

The box layout features the stills of the characters as they appeared in the Return of the Jedi movie!

The assortment of figures for the 6-pack includes Admiral Ackbar, Mon Mothma, Gamorrean Guard, Royal Guard, Wicket, & Yak Face.

Wicket
We get our first Ewok in the retro collection and it is none other than Wicket! Wicket W. Warrick was the brave young Ewok who willingly joined the Rebellion and aided in the battle against the Empire on the forest moon of Endor. Even before he encountered the Rebels, Wicket had devised methods for defeating the Imperial machines, plans which were implemented after the Ewok befriended Princess Leia and recruited his tribe to the Alliance’s cause. During the Battle of Endor, Wicket fought valiantly alongside his new allies.

Royal Guard
The Royal Guards are an iconic figure in the Star Wars line! Resplendent in crimson robes and armor, the Imperial Royal Guard protected the Emperor. Secrecy shrouded the Guard, with rumors abounding about the sentinels’ backgrounds and combat capabilities.

Admiral Ackbar
Another iconic figure in the retro collection is Admiral Ackbar! A veteran commander, Ackbar led the defense of his homeworld, Mon Cala, during the Clone Wars and then masterminded the rebel attack on the second Death Star at the Battle of Endor. Ackbar realized the rebels had been drawn into a trap at Endor, but adjusted, with his fleet buying valuable time for the attack to succeed. After the Battle of Endor, Ackbar became a Grand Admiral in the New Republic, winning many victories including the pivotal Battle of Jakku. He retired to Mon Cala, but was coaxed back into service with the Resistance by Leia Organa.

Gamorrean Guard
This figure has a very special place in my heart as I owned one as a kid and absoultly loved this figure! Once loyal to Jabba the Hutt and later Bib Fortuna who usurped his throne, Gamorrean Guards protected what was long known as Jabba’s palace. In the time of Boba Fett’s rise to power as Daimyo, they refused to surrender and vowed their loyalty to their new leader.

Mon Mothma
Making her first appearance in the vintage retro line, Mon Mothma worked in secret as one of the founders of the Rebel Alliance, Senator Mon Mothma of Chandrila carefully navigates the dangerous shadows of Coruscant politics in her efforts to build a viable rebellion. Once a leader of the Galactic Senate’s Loyalist faction, Mon Mothma opposed Supreme Chancellor Palpatine’s policies during the final days of the Republic. After the rise of the Empire, Mothma continues to serve her constituents on Coruscant while working on her ultimate goal: the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Yak Face
It’s amazing to see Yak Face in the Star Wars Retro collection because the cost of this figure on the secondary market is insane! Saelt-Marae, known by many as Yak Face, was a long-lived Yarkora confidence trickster and information broker who lived for several centuries during the waning days of the Old Republic and the reign of Emperor Palpatine. Marae kept details surrounding himself secret, so little was known about his early life. He spent two hundred years courting his chosen mate, and she later bore at least one child of Marae’s. Eventually he left her to continue in his life of crime, which was common among the Yarkora people.
