Wave 6 -LJN Toy Colors
Wave 6 Toy Recolors consists of Cheetara, Lion-O, Monkian, and Mumm-Ra the Ever Living. This exciting Wave is finalizing production and leaving the factory very soon. This Wave will be shipping to collectors in late-February! From the protype and renderings we have seem, they are looking absolutely amazing and is the Wave I am most excited for! I have a huge vintage toy collection, and my vintage LJN Lion-O is my favorite figure in my entire collection because the Baroness of Toys gave it to me as a gift many years ago! Well, when Super7 announced that they were making an Ultimate version of the LJN Toy Lion-O, I was over the moon with excitement and happiness!! Well now thanks to our friend over at Ken at the Retro Toy Escapades on Instagram, we get to see actual In Hand images and a great review video review (link also down below) of the Super7 Ultimate Wave 6 Lion-O Toy Variant version! Now we get to see actual in hand final production photos of what we are going to get in hand, and this Lion-O is the vintage inspired Ultimate figure we have always wanted!!
Super7 has been killin’ it for the past 2 years on their Thundecats Ultimate figures! I personally own several of them myself, but I am a child of the 80’s like many of you adult collector’s out there, and like many of you, I grew up playing with the original LJN Thundercats action figures. So when Super7 first came out with Ultimates, a part of me always wanted them to be more LJN like! The first Wave was a remake of the Mattel molds they had acquired when they got the license, and as cool as the first Lion-O was, he was not my LJN vintage style Lion-O I loved as a kid. Super7 has done an amazing job recreating the TMNT line in that Playmates “vintage” Ultimates style, and I always wished they would do the same for the Thundercats line. They came very close with Panthro and Tygra, as those look very close to there vintage counterparts. Well, now with this new Wave 6, I finally get my wish! These are not simply re-paints of the existing Super7 Ultimates figures, but totally brand new body and head sculpts! These new Wave 6 figures totally pulls at those nostalgia strings big time!!! Let’s take a look at who’s included in this new LJN vintage inspired Wave!

Thanks again to Retro Toy Escapades on Instagram for posting these images and video of the Ultimate Lion-O Toy Variant version! Ken said he found this figure at a local toy shop in Malaysa, and according to Super7’s last update, these figures were going to be shipping out to collectors some time in February! So maybe we will get them sooner than we thinkl ! Let’s take a closer look at the actual production figure! As you can see from the wonderful photos that Ken from Retro Toy Escapades on Instagram posted, this new Toy Variant Lion-O is a perfect homage to the vintage LJN figure!

2022 Designer Con
During last year’s DesignerCon 2022, the Wave 6 LJN Vintage prototype figures were on display and they looked amazing! I can’t tell you how excited I am for these!! Lion-O looks incredible with his vintage inspired orange and blues! He can hold the sword of Thundera way up high and summon his fellow ThunderCats! Mumm-ra looks spectacular and towers over the rest of the figures as well! He has his vintage inspired LJN colors as well with that teal-colored skin tone, and his red headdress, I really love how he is coming out! Monkian and Cheetara both look amazing as well! We will dive into each of these figures separately down below.
Lion-O
What can I say, Lion-O looks freaking spectacular, I am blown away and speechless!! It a beautiful homage to the vintage LJN figure, Super7 has hit it out of the park on this one!! It looks like Super7 took my vintage LJN figure and super articulated him! And yes, that is a photo of my vintage red-haired Lion-O and Snarf, from the Toy Sorceress’ personal collection! The new Wave 6 Lion-O features pin-less joints and a whole new sculpt! He comes in the vintage inspired orange skin tone, red hair, with light blue outfit and bright blue boots! He even has the reddish orange Thundercats logo on his blue belt, just like the vintage figure. Lion-O’s stance also resembles that of the vintage figure, as you can see the comparison of all 3 versions below. The new Lion-O totally resembles the stance and build of the vintage figure. He has the same light orange outlines around his eyes and mouth, just the like vintage figure. Lion-o comes with an alternate head, 2 sets of alternate hands and his vintage-colored orange claw and sword of Thundera. I have got to say I am head over heels in love with this new figure and can’t wait until next spring to have him in hand!!!
