One of the coolest things to come out of New York Comic Con 2026 was the chance to see the 2027 G.I. Joe Classified Series mainline figures in their packaging. Following the reveals covered in our G.I. Joe Classified Series NYCC 2026 panel report, Hasbro put Shipwreck, Oktober Guard Daina, Hardball, and the Cobra H.E.A.T. Viper on display for an up-close look. The panel’s digital renders gave us the initial reveal, but seeing the actual figures inside their boxes provides a much better idea of their final appearance and what collectors will eventually find on the shelf. I’m especially pumped about the H.E.A.T. Viper. He has always been one of my favorite vintage G.I. Joe figures, with that awesome Cobra helmet, bright orange and purple armor, and oversized launcher making him impossible to mistake for anyone else. Getting him in Classified Series form is a big one for me, and seeing the packaged figure makes the wait for this 2027 assortment feel a lot more real.

Daina

Daina is presented in a white tank top and camouflage trousers with an extra blonde hairpiece, a backpack and plenty of field gear. I love the tiny DAINA name patch on the backpack, while the Oktober Guard crest gives the box a welcome bit of team identity.

The side illustration gives Daina a guarded expression beneath her brown cap, with blonde bangs across her face and ammunition lined along her waist. It’s a strong portrait that suits the no-nonsense military gear.

The back artwork drops Daina into a ruined street amid smoke and flames, giving the package a proper action scene instead of another plain character portrait.

Hardball

Hardball’s white jersey is marked “G.I. Joe 22,” with blue piping and sleeve stripes matched by the star on his cap. The olive harness and utility belt worn over the baseball uniform make for a wonderfully odd mix of ballplayer and field gear for a GI Joe figure and of course, pays homage to his vintage design.

The side illustration gives Hardball a slight, confident grin, while the back artwork shows him loaded down with gear on a city street.

The back spotlights his backpack and baseball bat, carrying the baseball theme beyond the uniform.

HEAT Viper

HEAT Viper’s bright yellow suit and smooth helmet with its narrow black faceplate make for a wonderfully strange Cobra look that I fell in love with as a kid. The alternate masked head and bulky gray equipment also give the window display plenty to show beyond the figure itself.

The side panel features a large illustration of H.E.A.T. Viper’s orange helmet and silver visor against a green background, with black straps running across his chest. It’s a great close-up of the character’s distinctive design, while the adjacent panel shows him in action.

The back artwork puts HEAT Viper in a burning industrial complex filled with heavy machinery, pipes and smoke.

Shipwreck

This version of Shipwreck takes the character in a different direction from his classic sailor appearance, giving him a more modern, tactical look. Hasbro showed him during the NYCC panel wearing a dark blue sweater, black knit cap, and tactical gear, complete with his signature beard. The figure also comes with Althea, his parrot, rather than the more familiar Polly. It’s an interesting update to Shipwreck, and I like that Hasbro is exploring another version of the character instead of simply revisiting his original 1985 design. The in-package display gave us a closer look at the figure’s head sculpt, clothing details, and accessories.

Shipwreck’s side portrait gives him bright green goggle lenses beneath heavy black headgear, a surprisingly severe look for him.

The back artwork places him in a smoke-filled ruined street with a firearm in each hand.
