As you can see we have Rattlor, Kobra Khan and Snake Armor He-Man. Oddly enough Bolt-Man was missing from today’s reveal line up. We have already seen these revealed at last month’s SDCC, but it’s awesome to see official reveal images and Card back art!
I just love the way they have incoporated the Snake Men logo rising up from behind the Masters of the Universe Logo! It looks amazing! Plus there is also an added Snakemen sticker to the front and the bubble is supposed to have scales on it as well along the bottom.

Last but not lease we see Rattlor’s card back art work. Here he is battling against Snake Amor He-Man, which we know is part of this wave. Yet another tease at Snake Mountain which has neem shown on countless MOTU Origins Package art. Can it be we are getting closer to getting a Snake Mountain? Only time will tell!

Rise of the Snake Men 2023
As Mattel exclaimed at the introduction, 2023 will be the Rise of the Snake Men featuring brand new figures and brand-new packaging. The Rise of the Snake Men harkens back to the 200x Snake Armor theme with the snake hunters with the serpent claws! They made a point to let us know that this is Wave 1 of multiple Snake Men Waves!!! As we know from the original vintage Snake Men, the Origins versions come with new tooling, so it was exciting for the design team at Mattel to work on these.
Card Design
The Rise of the Snake Men packaging features the Snake Men graphic looming over the Masters of the Universe logo. The blister features snake pattern detail and texturing, and the faction logo, which is an updated version of the vintage Snake Men logo. As you can see, Mattel has really stepped it up on the cardback packaging by not only adding theSnake Men factions sticker to the front of the blister bubble, but they have added spectacular Snake Men art to the top of the cardback!

Wave 1
Snake Armor He-Man
This version of He-Man will come with all of the weapons and accessories that the 200x version of Snake Armor He-Man. You can see a better photo of him as he was on display in the Eternia scene in the Mattel booth! This version of He-Man will come with all of the weapons and accessories that the 200x version of Snake Armor He-Man.

Snake Armor He-Man Card Art
Amazing to see Squeeeze represented in the card art as Snake Armor He-Man looks like he is fending off a surprise attack! If we are not mistaken, could this be Snake Face in the lower right corner? We’ll need better photos to confirm but, until then, we will go with that!

Origins of Snake Armor He-Man
It looks like Mattel is making more 200x variants for the Origins line, as He-Man and Skeletor were introduced in brand new sculpts back in mid-March and we just saw their carded images for the first time back in April. First introduced in the MOTU 200x line, Snake Armor He-Man features a brand-new design based on the Mike Young Productions Masters of the Universe Cartoon Series that aired back in 2002. With a pronounced piece of shoulder armor plus his right arm wrapped in protective armor, he can fend off any attack from the Snake Men. He-Man has to lead with his right as his entire left side is exposed but we are certain he will prevail! His special pincer attachment on his right wrist guard will also give him the upper hand! In addition to his armor on his upper body, his torso and right leg are also wrapped in armor with some very cool texturing and designs. The addition of the Snake Men symbol completes the look and is set off in a nice red and gold color palette. He-Man also received an upgraded power sword that features a hidden projectile that he can stow on the back of his armor. This oversized sword has a the same hilt and cross guard design as the first release of 200x He-Man but this one is oversized to accommodate the projectile. We are looking forward to Snake Armor He-Man joining the Origins line in 2023!

If you want more backstory on Snake Armor He-Man, his MOTU Classics bio sheds some light on this new version:
When the Snake Men returned to Eternia from their banishment in the Void, Adam used the Power of Grayskull to create upgraded armor more adapted to combat his new reptilian enemy. Equipped with a venom-proof shield and a cordite snake pincher. Adam is now fully protected in his Snake Armor, ready to fight off King Hssss and his army of snake warriors! Eventually, Adam was forced to used his armor to battle against his former friend and mentor Duncan who had been hideously transformed by the Serpent’s Ring into a Snake Man. Refusing to kill Duncan, Adam’s Snake Armor was destroyed by Snake Man-At-Arms’ newly invented neutralizer blaster which could disrupt the Power of Grayskull itself!
Snake Armor He-Man MOTU Classics Bio
Bolt Man (Rulers of the Sun)
The newest faction, the Rulers of the Sun, is joining the fight against the Snake Men helping He-Man and friends!

Bolt Man Card Art
It is great to see Bolt-Man’s card art and how they are including him in the lore now. He is fighting off Kobra Khan in a cool looking swamp scene!

Origins of Bolt Man
Continuing with the Rulers of the Sun line in 2023, Bolt-Man is making his first appearance in the MOTU Origins line. Released in 1986, Bolt Man has the power to heal and recreate the life force of molecules. He can regenerate and restore that which has lost its energy force and people only need to touch this band to do so. Doing this, two bolts of lightning will pass through his chest like a stroke of light. Speaking of bolts of lighting, it looks like he carries these strapped to his back armor, which makes him appear taller and more a more formidable force.

Rattlor
Rattlor In the vintage design, Rattlor had the neck extension but in the Origins version, in order to keep the parts swapability and all of the removable parts, they added a neck extension piece which is FULLY ARTICULATED!!!

Rattlor Card Art
Snake Armor He-Man is fending off Rattlor and, it is hard to tell but Snake Face might also be on the card art as well!

Origins of Rattlor
Unveiled on March 19, 2022 during their live stream, CANAL DOS ROSMINEIROS, revealed the first of Snake Men coming to Origins in 2023 were none other than Rattlor and Tung Lashor, although this current information we have is just Rattlor slotted for a January 2023 release! This is very exciting news since fans have been clamoring for Snake Men to be included in the line for a very long time now and it is great that Kobra Khan is getting a buddy to pal around with to conduct his Snake Men hijinks. A completely new sculpt, Rattlor’s body is a little smaller than the standard MOTU figure to accommodate his cool extending neck action feature. He features a similar tail, like Whiplash, but it is attached at his mid back versus his shoulders. The snake markings on his arms and legs add some depth and dimension to this mostly maroon red snake and he’s got a gaggle of yellow abs in classic MOTU fashion.
Rattlor was first released by Mattel in 1986. Unlike most of the previous MOTU figures that came before him, with commonly reused parts, Rattlor was unique in that it had a completely new body, new tail, new head and popping neck feature! His chest sculpt was all new as well and his body was covered in a scaly texture. The snake attack action feature was activated by pressing a button on his back, which was hidden with the rubber tail, made the spring-loaded elongated neck pop up. If you notice, Rattlor had an especially long torso, and that was by design to accommodate the elongated neck inside. Rattlor also included a Rattling sound that was made by shaking him, so mimic the noise of a Rattle snake. He was packed with a burgundy snake shaped staff. Will the new Origins version include Rattlor’s trademark action features? Only time will tell!
According to the Wiki Grayskull:
He first appears in the “King of the Snake Men” MOTU minicomic, where he and Tung Lashor are called from another dimension by King Hiss. When they appear, Kobra Khan says they “are from the Evil Horde on Etheria!”, but both Snake Men swear allegiance again to their former leader King Hiss.
He also appears in the She-Ra: Princess of Power TV series as a member of the Evil Horde and, in later episodes, one of Skeletor’s Evil Warriors. The original MOTU cartoon had come to a close by the time his figure was released.

Kobra Khan
Kobra Khan will feature the same parts as the Mattel Creations Camo Khan sans the MOTU Classics head. They did not say what other parts will come with him, but we are guessing it will be his orange blaster that the vintage figure was packed with (possibly the Mace too).

Kobra Khan Card Art
We see Kobra Khan spitting venom with Thunder Punch He-Man, who as already been teased on the Wave 8 Horde Trooper Card art, with Extendar looking on!

Origins of Kobra Khan
According to a leak that Kobra Khan and the Snake Men were coming in 2023 that we helped cover back in mid-March, an image shared to us directly from CANAL DOS ROSMINEIROS shows a grainy image that is tough to pick out the finer details, but it is clearly Kobra Khan! Fans have been clamoring for the Snake Men to be produced for the Origins line and it is amazing to finally see these figures in person!
Kobra Khan was released by Mattel in 1984. He was actually originally considered a member of the Evil Warriors as he often made apperances as one of Skeletor’s henchmen on the 1980’s Filmation cartoon. He was later considered one of the Snake Men following their introduction to the line in 1986. Unlike the other two Snake Men covered above, Kobra Khan did have some shared parts to the previous MOTU figures. He was made of the same monster type arms and legs as Skeletor. But he did however have a brand-new torso and head sculpt. As a matter of fact, his head and torso was a completely new design as it allowed kids to lift off the head and fill the torso with water. By then replacing the head and pressing it down, Kobra Khan would release his “venom” spray feature misting out the water thru an opening in his mouth! His torso’s design featured a scaly design with brown scale straps and an all new belt design as well. Kobra Khan came with a simple red laser pistol, the same as came packed Zodac.
According to the Wiki Grayskull:
Kobra Khan was introduced into the Masters of the Universe toy line in 1984. His action figure’s special feature is to spray water. The figure’s head is removable, and the hollow torso can be filled with water, so that when the head is back in place, it can be pushed down to spray water from its mouth.
Kobra Khan appears on the cartoon shortly after his figure was released. He is one of the few Evil Warriors on the cartoon to be portrayed in a darker, more serious manner as opposed to being used for comedy value. He is usually paired with Webstor and the two of them are often seen to work as a duo. They are first paired in the episode “Disappearing Dragons” which portrays Khan as the leader of the two. He is portrayed as a sly, scheming and sullen character, capable of taking on numerous opponents at once with his sleep mist. Never fearful or bumbling around the Heroic Characters, his low, whisper-like, hissing voice provided by Lou Scheimer enhances the portrayal of him as a reserved and sinister character.

King Hiss Deluxe Figure
He will also be included in the line coming Spring 2023 with some really cool add ons! The original King Hiss featured two halves of a torso and a head that you peel off.The panel made a joke about King Hiss feeling like Mr. Potato Head as you now have to assemble King Hiss’ snake parts on him! Now, you need to remove the arms and head then his armor harness comes off to reveal his snake torso! Then, the snake arms plug back in and he comes with an extra snakehead to complete his alternate look to achieve the fully transformed King Hiss! As a side note, they mentioned that they wanted to “plus up” the snake arms because the vintage figure wasn’t as “cool” as the new Origins ones!

Weapons and Accessories
- Snakemen Shield that slips right over his wrist
- Green snake Staff
You can also mix and match the arms and head to make any flavor of King Hiss that appeals to you!

Here are more photos of King Hiss as shown at the panel!

Origins of King Hiss
First introduced to the Masters of the Universe line in 1986, King Hiss was the leader of the of the Snake Men. He looked like a human, but underneath, he was really a snake man. The King Hiss action figure was made of several parts of a human head / torso and arm shell pieces that would clip onto the figure to conceal the slithering snake body underneath. His legs were human shaped as well but did not transform. He wore green armor with golden yellow gloves. His accessories included a red shield and a green snake staff. This was the same staff as came packed with most of the other Snake Men. King Hiss was an all-new figure sculpt due to the transforming nature of the character and was released much later in the line, when there were tooling dollars to pull off such a new character.
According to the Wiki Grayskull:
King Hiss (also known as King Hssss[1]) is a character in the Masters of the Universe franchise. He was the villainous leader of the Snake Men and one of He-Man‘s more powerful enemies. Although he never appears in the original animated series by Filmation, which had ceased production by the time the figure was released. Hiss makes a belated animated debut in the 2002 relaunch of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Mike Young Productions, this time as the major villain of the second season.

Mattel Creations Exclusive Camo Kahn Figure
This new Camo Khan Figure looks absolutely amazing! Collector friendly where you can slide out the card and unfold it into a trifold card which reveals a really nice diorama. The trifold card features the backstory on Camo Kahn and how he came into the Masters of the Universe. The card also sports the Rise of the Snake Men Origins theme, which is the first card art to feature this (#spoileraltert)! Camo Kahn was a variant that came with lobster hands like Clawful. He has his regular vintage style head that we all know from Kobra Khan and also the flared Cobra head that we first saw from the Masters of the Universe Classics line two swappable heads.

Camo Khan comes with the following
- Green Mace that is VUM
- Orange blaster
- Extra set of hands to reflect the more vintage looking style
- Water effect: In order to maintain the customizability of the figure that Origins is known for. There is a hole in the MOTU Classics and standard head where the water effect piece fits into.

We also want to thank Pixel Dan for covering the 2022 SDCC MOTU Origins panel, where got the images below.

Card Art
With absolutely stunning artwork by Axel Gimenez, the Camo Khan cardback features all sorts of exciting MOTU characters. We can see Lazer Light Skeletor in the background, along with a host of Powers of Grayskull characters. We have Megator, King Hiss riding the Tyrantisaurus Rex. We can also see Tung Lashor who was also teased to be coming to the Origins line! King Grayskull is riding Bionatops, and as we saw on the Eternia display, there was an Origins version of King Grayskull as well! Then we see teases of Moss Man and Sharella, as we covered in Wun-Dar Card Art Teases New MOTU Origins Characters. Also pictured is Eldor, Squeeze and Tytus as well! There are so many characters here that we have either predicted thru previous card art teases or haven gotten leaks on, so it is very exciting to see these characters on this artwork!

History of Camo Khan
The origins Camo Khan interestingly enough was never part of the original Mattel Masters of the Universe line, but really a version of Kobra Khan by the Argentinian toy maker Top Toys!
According to the battleramblog.com:
Interestingly, there was a version of Kobra Khan that did have the snake symbol on his chest– a variant made by Argentinian manufacturer Top Toys, called Kobra Khan Camuflado. Known as Camo Khan to many fans today, the figure had a green and black camouflage style paint job, gold boots and belt, and strangely, Buzz-Off’s clawed arms. He was given Clawful’s green mace as a weapon.

MOTU Classics Camo Kahn
