Scare Glow MOTU Chronicles Official Packaging and Art Reveal
Talk about a full circle moment unfolding in real time. First, the figure just shows up out of nowhere with that unexpected in-hand look at Scareglow for the MOTU Chronicles line, and then the very next day we get the official packaging reveal confirming everything. Back in July 2025, we told you Scareglow would be kicking off the Chronicles line, and while at the time that intel felt like a bit of a head scratcher given the movie focused direction we were seeing, we knew he was coming and it was only a matter of time. Now seeing “INAUGURAL EDITION” and “CHRONICLES SCARE GLOW” printed right on the box makes it clear that this is not just another figure drop, this is the launch point. The official copy reads, “If the only thing to fear is fear itself, then no being is more terrifying than the Lord of Subternia, Scare Glow. His ghostly light can paralyze even the bravest of Eternia’s warriors,” and it leans fully into that eerie legacy fans have loved for decades. Massive credit goes to the creative team bringing this to life, with packaging design and art direction by Roy Juarez, artwork by Simon Eckert, toy design by Marko Djurdjevic, packaging engineering by Lalit Pukhrambam, and copy by Melissa Karlin and Rob Hudnut. Going from early intel, to an in hand leak, to a polished official reveal in a matter of days is exactly why we stay patient when the puzzle pieces do not quite fit at first. Sometimes you just have to wait for the moment when everything clicks, and with Scareglow officially ushering in Chronicles, that moment has arrived and we hope this is a new nonmovie subline continues with more amazing figures.
New Chronciles Nonmovie Logo
The new Masters of the Universe Chronicles logo leans into a bold, cinematic look with the classic MASTERS wordmark rendered in deep black with thick metallic gold edging that gives it a beveled, dimensional feel. The letters sit over a dark stone-like slab, adding weight and texture, while OF THE UNIVERSE appears below in a brushed silver finish that contrasts sharply against the darker backdrop. The word CHRONICLES is framed inside a rounded silver nameplate beneath, creating a tiered effect that feels distinct from previous MOTU sublines. The gradient background fades from charcoal to black, letting the metallic highlights pop and giving the entire mark a premium, almost theatrical presence. If this is indeed the branding for nonmovie figures, it sets a tone that feels expansive and story driven while still staying rooted in the core Masters aesthetic.

From the straight on front view, the figure stands upright inside the tray with neon green flame effects sculpted behind the skull head, chain details across the chest, and layered belt pieces visible through the window; the halberd rests along the left side, extra hands are positioned to the right, and the overall presentation keeps the character tightly framed against the dark interior insert.

Scare Glow’s back panel artwork shows him planted on jagged rock formations, gripping a long, curved scythe as green spectral energy swirls around him and ghostly skulls rise from the shadows below; two inset shots on the upper right highlight alternate poses, while a short character bio sits above the scene against a dark backdrop.

The Inaugural Edition window box frames the figure front and center inside a clear plastic tray, with the scythe secured along the left interior wall and extra hands arranged to the right; the side panel features a full character illustration with glowing green eyes, purple cape flowing behind him, and swirling spirits wrapping the background art.

A three quarter angle shows how the front window wraps slightly around the side, giving a clearer look at the scythe blade and the layered armor details on the chest and skirt; the character art continues seamlessly across the side panel with green energy effects blending into the darker box edges.

We have a full body illustration, emphasizing the layered armor and costume details. Skull sculpting is worked into the shoulder guard, a chain stretches across the chest and connects to circular clasps, and a winged skull emblem anchors the belt at the waist. Tattered fabric elements hang from the skirt, chains wrap around the lower leg, and in the distant background we have Prince Adam and Cringer appear within the green haze, reading as potential teases tucked into the larger scene.

This amazing art shows a three quarter view of Scare Glow with his scythe raised high, the curved blade cutting diagonally across the top of the composition. His skull face burns with bright red eyes, framed by neon green flame that licks upward and blends into swirling spectral currents behind him. The ribcage glows through darker shadowed tones across the torso, while the purple cape sweeps outward in a wide arc, creating strong contrast against the green energy that fills the background.

Finally, we have this panel tightening in on the upper torso and head, bringing attention to the cracked bone detail along the forehead and the wide, grinning jaw beneath glowing red eyes. The open skeletal hand reaches forward with elongated fingers, green flame curling above the palm, while the purple cape frames the figure from behind and the scythe handle angles upward along the edge of the composition.

Scare Glow In-Hand Images
We just got our first glimpse of Scareglow for the MOTU Chronicles line, and I have to say, this is one of those moments that makes covering this hobby so much fun. Back in July 2025, anonymous sources tipped us off that Scareglow would be kicking off the MOTU Chronicles line, which honestly had us scratching our heads since everything we had been told pointed to Chronicles being heavily movie focused. That early intel never quite made sense on paper, but now seeing an actual figure image surface starts to connect some dots in a very unexpected way. Huge thanks to the Texas Toy Addict for sending over the photo he found on Reddit showing the actual figure in hand and to Toy Hunters Holler, and from what we can see, he looks incredible. The skeletal detailing, the dark suit contrasted with those bright bone elements, and the overall presence of the figure immediately signal that this is not just a random one off rumor but something that appears to be very real. For those of us who grew up with Scareglow as that mysterious late wave character, the idea that he could lead off a brand new Chronicles line is both surprising and exciting. If this is indeed the direction Mattel is taking, then the Chronicles line may be broader in scope than we originally thought, and that opens up a whole new level of possibilities for what could be coming next.
Scareglow Packaging
And here it is in all its glory: the full front packaging reveal for the inaugural Chronicles edition. The large window display showcases Scareglow with his staff and alternate hands, while the bold Masters of the Universe Chronicles presentation frames the entire box. For a first look, this is massive. If this is how the Chronicles line is kicking off, we are in for something truly special as this is the first non-movie figure we have seen. Will he be showing up in the movie? Only time will tell!

The back of the box delivers a powerful action pose of Scareglow leaping forward with his staff, surrounded by ghostly green energy. Additional product shots highlight articulation and movement, showing off dynamic stances that match the supernatural theme. The character bio reinforces his terrifying presence as the Lord of Subternia, capable of paralyzing Eternia’s bravest warriors.

The side box art is absolutely stunning. Scareglow bursts forward in a swirl of green spectral energy, cape flowing, weapon raised. The artwork leans into that ghostly, supernatural angle with a full-on spectral warlord presence. We can also see Prince Adam and Cringer!

The side panel packaging shot confirms it loud and clear: Scareglow, Evil Ghost of Skeletor. The character art is vibrant and intense, with green spectral smoke swirling around him as he reaches forward. Through the window, you can catch a glimpse of the green flame accessory inside, teasing what’s waiting once the box is opened.

Inside the tray, the presentation is clean and bold. The purple interior backdrop frames the figure perfectly, and you can clearly see the extra hands and staff secured beside him. Even in-package, that green flame effect demands attention and gives the figure a dynamic silhouette through the window.

Literally laid out with accessories, this is where the deluxe treatment really shines. You can see the alternate skull head, the removable green flame effect, and the massive bladed staff with sculpted serpent detail wrapped along the shaft. The purple soft goods cape drapes naturally, and the layered skirt armor with hanging chains adds texture and depth to the lower half.

This close-up of the Masterverse Scareglow really highlights how clean and bold this sculpt is. The skull portrait has smooth contours with defined brow ridges and tightly sculpted teeth, giving him that classic skeletal expression. The neon yellow bone detailing across the chest stands out sharply against the matte black torso, with the ribcage and clavicle elements clearly defined and evenly layered. You can also see how the bone paint wraps cleanly around the shoulders and upper torso, reinforcing that stylized, high-contrast look that makes this version instantly recognizable on the shelf.

Scareglow looks incredible. The translucent green flame effect framing the skull creates a halo-like inferno that contrasts beautifully with the deep purples of the armor and cape. The chain detail across the chest, the layered shoulder armor, and the bone pattern sculpted across the torso all work together to give this figure a premium feel.

Side by side, this comparison is incredible. On the left, the Masterverse Scareglow delivers that bold, modern take with a deep black body, bright neon bone detailing, a smoother skull sculpt, and a streamlined staff that keeps the look clean and sharp. The purple armor and cape give him that animated-inspired Masterverse presence we know and love. But on the right, the Chronicles Scareglow feels darker, heavier, and far more premium. The bone sculpting is more dimensional and textured, the skull portrait carries stronger contours and intensity, and that translucent green flame effect completely transforms the silhouette into something truly supernatural. Add in the layered armor, sculpted chain detail, and the more ornate polearm with serpent wrapping along the shaft, and the Chronicles version doesn’t just update the character, it elevates him into a spectral warlord presence that absolutely commands the throne.
