The Scare Glow saga continues to unfold and at this point it really feels like we are watching the entire reveal play out step by step. It started months ago when we first reported back in July 2025 that Scare Glow would be kicking off the MOTU Chronicles line, which at the time raised a lot of questions since Chronicles seemed so closely tied to the upcoming movie. Fast forward to just a few days ago and we suddenly saw the first in hand images surface online, followed quickly by the official packaging reveal and the product details that confirmed this figure as the Inaugural Edition of the line. Mattel then followed that up with the official product images, fully bringing the story together. Now the next chapter comes from the UK based online retailer The Whole Shebang, which is firing the opening salvo by showing how MOTU Chronicles Scare Glow will actually be sold overseas. Seeing the retail presentation gives us yet another piece of the puzzle and helps collectors understand how this new 1:12 scale line is being positioned at retail. As we learned from the news shared by He-Mania, collectors in the United States should expect Scare Glow to be a Walmart exclusive. We learned today that retailers like The Whole Shebang appear to be carrying the figure internationally, as he is now up for preorder. If you live in a region that The Whole Shebang ships to, you may want to head over and secure this amazing figure because if the reaction over the past few days is any indication, Scare Glow is already shaping up to be one of the most talked about Masters of the Universe releases of the year.
March 12. 2026: Discovered at Walmart Stores
Sometimes the hunt delivers surprises when you least expect it, and it looks like that might be happening right now with the upcoming MOTU Chronicles line. Huge shoutout to @cgtvrn (via Toy Shiz) in Los Angeles, California for the find and photos, because the Masters of the Universe Chronicles “Inaugural Edition” Scare Glow has reportedly started hitting shelves earlier than anticipated. Seeing this figure out in the wild already definitely got my attention, especially since Scare Glow is kicking off the entire MOTU Chronicles line, making this an especially exciting sighting for collectors who have been following the build up to this release. The packaging clearly calls out that inaugural edition designation, which adds an extra bit of intrigue for those of us keeping track of how Mattel is launching this new sub line. If you are planning to do some toy hunting this weekend, it might be worth keeping your eyes peeled just in case your local stores received stock a little ahead of schedule. A barcode has also been shared (see below) that collectors can try scanning in store, which could make tracking this figure down a little easier.

Official Images and Release Details
This Scare Glow story has unfolded quickly over the last few days and has come completely full circle since we heard Scare Glow would be kicking off the MOTU Chronicles line and now we finally have the official images from Mattel to bring everything together. First we saw the unexpected in hand figure surface online, then we dug into the product details that hinted at something much bigger for the Masters of the Universe Chronicles line, and now Mattel has officially posted the images confirming what we suspected. As the inaugural item in the new MOTU Chronicles collection, Scare Glow is clearly being positioned as the launch point for this new 1:12 scale format. According to the official description, the figure features 32 points of articulation for dynamic posing along with intricate sculpted detail from head to armor. Special elements include glossy translucent green flames surrounding his head, matte and metallic finishes throughout the body, an elegantly curved Scythe of Doom accessory, and an extra set of hands. The character copy leans fully into the mythos as well, noting that “If the only thing to fear is fear itself, then no being is more terrifying than the Lord of Subternia, Scare Glow. His ghostly light can paralyze even the bravest of Eternia’s warriors.” What continues to stand out most, however, is the broader description of the line itself: “The Chronicles collection celebrates Masters of the Universe and the stories of Eternia and Preternia at 1:12 scale.” That wording reinforces the theory we explored earlier that Chronicles is designed to reach beyond just movie figures and instead serve as a platform for the wider mythology of the brand. Scare Glow may be the Inaugural Edition figure, but if these official details are any indication, he is also the opening chapter of what could become a much larger storytelling focused collector line for Masters of the Universe. Huge thanks to the amazing AJ over at He-Mania for the release date and distribution information as this amazing figure is, unfortunately, going to be a Walmart exclusive in the U.S. and hits shelves on April 25, 2026!

MOTU Chronicles Scare Glow is now scanning up on the Walmart App and website!

Scare Glow from the MOTU Chronicles line is posed with his large scythe raised high, the long silver blade curving forward while the staff extends down past his shoulder. The figure features a skeletal face with bright green translucent flame effects rising from the back of the skull, paired with a bone colored body sculpt and darker armor elements on the chest, forearms, and boots, along with a tattered purple cape that spreads behind him. I really like how the green energy effect frames the skull while his open hand reaches forward, giving the whole figure a dramatic display pose with the scythe ready overhead.

The translucent green skull head is sculpted with hollow eye sockets, a defined nasal cavity, and individually sculpted teeth, while flame shaped energy rises from the top and back of the head. The glow in the dark plastic extends slightly down into the neck area, creating a bright contrast against the darker chest armor. The green flames arc backward behind the skull, giving the head a dramatic spectral silhouette against the purple cape.

The glow in the dark head is shown illuminated in a dark setting, with the translucent green skull emitting a bright neon glow. The sculpted eye sockets, nasal cavity, and teeth remain visible through the glowing plastic, while the flame shaped energy rising from the top of the skull appears even more pronounced when lit. The glowing green head stands out sharply against the darkened body and cape, highlighting the spectral design of the character.

The Scare Glow figure is shown standing with his scythe held to the side, but the real focal point here is the glow in the dark head sculpt. The skull is cast in translucent green plastic with flame shaped energy rising from the back and top of the head, giving it a spectral look even before the lights go out. The eye sockets, nose cavity, and teeth are sharply sculpted into the skull, and the glowing plastic extends slightly down into the upper neck area, creating a bright contrast against the darker armor and the purple cape behind him.

Scareglow Packaging
And here it is in all its glory: the full front packaging reveal for the inaugural Chronicles edition. The large window display showcases Scareglow with his staff and alternate hands, while the bold Masters of the Universe Chronicles presentation frames the entire box. For a first look, this is massive. If this is how the Chronicles line is kicking off, we are in for something truly special as this is the first non-movie figure we have seen. Will he be showing up in the movie? Only time will tell!

The back of the box delivers a powerful action pose of Scareglow leaping forward with his staff, surrounded by ghostly green energy. Additional product shots highlight articulation and movement, showing off dynamic stances that match the supernatural theme. The character bio reinforces his terrifying presence as the Lord of Subternia, capable of paralyzing Eternia’s bravest warriors.

The side box art is absolutely stunning. Scareglow bursts forward in a swirl of green spectral energy, cape flowing, weapon raised. The artwork leans into that ghostly, supernatural angle with a full-on spectral warlord presence. We can also see Prince Adam and Cringer!

The side panel packaging shot confirms it loud and clear: Scareglow, Evil Ghost of Skeletor. The character art is vibrant and intense, with green spectral smoke swirling around him as he reaches forward. Through the window, you can catch a glimpse of the green flame accessory inside, teasing what’s waiting once the box is opened.

Inside the tray, the presentation is clean and bold. The purple interior backdrop frames the figure perfectly, and you can clearly see the extra hands and staff secured beside him. Even in-package, that green flame effect demands attention and gives the figure a dynamic silhouette through the window.

Literally laid out with accessories, this is where the deluxe treatment really shines. You can see the alternate skull head, the removable green flame effect, and the massive bladed staff with sculpted serpent detail wrapped along the shaft. The purple soft goods cape drapes naturally, and the layered skirt armor with hanging chains adds texture and depth to the lower half.

This close-up of the Masterverse Scareglow really highlights how clean and bold this sculpt is. The skull portrait has smooth contours with defined brow ridges and tightly sculpted teeth, giving him that classic skeletal expression. The neon yellow bone detailing across the chest stands out sharply against the matte black torso, with the ribcage and clavicle elements clearly defined and evenly layered. You can also see how the bone paint wraps cleanly around the shoulders and upper torso, reinforcing that stylized, high-contrast look that makes this version instantly recognizable on the shelf.

Scareglow looks incredible. The translucent green flame effect framing the skull creates a halo-like inferno that contrasts beautifully with the deep purples of the armor and cape. The chain detail across the chest, the layered shoulder armor, and the bone pattern sculpted across the torso all work together to give this figure a premium feel.

Side by side, this comparison is incredible. On the left, the Masterverse Scareglow delivers that bold, modern take with a deep black body, bright neon bone detailing, a smoother skull sculpt, and a streamlined staff that keeps the look clean and sharp. The purple armor and cape give him that animated-inspired Masterverse presence we know and love. But on the right, the Chronicles Scareglow feels darker, heavier, and far more premium. The bone sculpting is more dimensional and textured, the skull portrait carries stronger contours and intensity, and that translucent green flame effect completely transforms the silhouette into something truly supernatural. Add in the layered armor, sculpted chain detail, and the more ornate polearm with serpent wrapping along the shaft, and the Chronicles version doesn’t just update the character, it elevates him into a spectral warlord presence that absolutely commands the throne.
