Six New MOTU Origins Listings Point To New Build-A-Figure Wave
A trusted anonymous source has shared six new listings that could be tied to Mattel’s cross-sell-inspired MOTU Origins Build A Figure line. Together, they appear to point toward a new Build-A-Figure wave, although the listings do not yet tell us what figure could be next let alone which extra parts could come with each character.
Mattel established the direction for this line at SDCC 2026, where the figures were shown taking their colors and other details from the vintage cross-sell artwork used to advertise the original toys. You can see that earlier material in our SDCC 2026 booth reveals and SDCC 2026 panel coverage. Since Mattel is already using that artwork as inspiration for this new Origins assortment, those illustrations give us something concrete to examine while we wait for the actual figures to be revealed.
Before getting into the vintage card art, Battle Ram Blog deserves a huge shoutout. Every vintage cross-sell image referenced here comes from its incredible archive of Masters of the Universe history, and without the work Battle Ram Blog has done preserving and documenting this artwork, we simply would not have these images available to study.
What About the Next Build-A-Figure?
There’s also one big piece of the puzzle we don’t know yet: the Build-A-Figure.
Mattel introduced this new cross-sell-inspired Origins line with Shadow Beast and Mask of Power Demon as the Build-A-Figures for the first 2 waves, with pieces included alongside the individual figures. If these six new listings are indeed the next figures in the Build-A-Figure line, that raises the fun question of what Mattel could have planned next.
Nothing in the information shared with Toy Habits identifies the next Build-A-Figure or tells us which figures could include its parts, so for now, it’s wide open for speculation. But that’s also part of what makes these listings so exciting. We may be looking at our first clues to the next group of figures while the biggest surprise of the assortment is still completely unknown.
With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at Fisto, Prince Adam, Orko, Battle Armor Skeletor, Hordak, and Evil-Lyn and see what their vintage artwork could tell us about how these new Origins figures might look.

Evil-Lyn
Evil-Lyn could be one of the figures I’m most interested to see Mattel revisit. Her vintage cross-sell artwork depicts her with yellow skin and an outfit with varying shades of blue, including her headpiece, armor, boots, arm pieces, and staff. But for me, the biggest potential upgrade isn’t necessarily the color scheme. It’s the face sculpt. The previous MOTU Origins versions of Evil-Lyn featured a noticeable smirk that always irked me. The expression in the vintage cross-sell artwork is much more serious and captures Evil-Lyn better, in my opinion. I’m hoping that her repaint extends beyond the colors and gives us a new head sculpt inspired by the illustration. That alone could make this my favorite Origins version of Evil-Lyn.

Fisto
Compared with some of the other characters on this list, Fisto’s cross-sell appearance remains fairly close to the character collectors know. However, the silver and blue treatment of his armor could give Mattel an opportunity to create a version distinctly based on the vintage illustration and a true vintage version, like the He-Man we saw at SDCC 2026.

Hordak
Hordak’s vintage cross-sell artwork sticks relatively close to the character’s familiar color palette while still offering some interesting differences.
The Horde leader has a gray body surrounded by black armor with bright red details. His cape is red, while his boots combine black and red elements. The artwork shows Hordak holding a red Horde symbol, with his white crossbow pictured alongside him.
Hopefully, translating the specific colors and details from this illustration could still give us a version that stands apart from previous Origins releases.

Orko
Orko retains many of his most recognizable features in the vintage artwork, including his oversized orange hat, hidden black face, and yellow eyes. Orko may not be as dramatic a departure as some of the other figures on this list, but those colors could still give collectors a noticeably different version of the Heroic Court Magician.

Prince Adam could be one of the more exciting figures in this group, especially since MOTU fans have been clamoring for a vintage-style Prince Adam in the Origins line. If Mattel closely follows the cross-sell artwork, this could finally give collectors a Prince Adam that feels much closer to his vintage roots while still offering something different from the original figure. For fans who have been waiting for a vintage-style Origins Prince Adam, this listing could be a particularly exciting addition to the line.

Battle Armor Skeletor
Battle Armor Skeletor feels like a natural addition to the line after Mattel revealed Battle Armor He-Man at SDCC. The vintage cross-sell artwork gives Skeletor his bright blue skin and yellow-green skull, with black and purple armor and his Havoc Staff. The artwork also gives us a good look at the colors and details Mattel could pull from when translating Battle Armor Skeletor into the same cross-sell-inspired style as Battle Armor He-Man. If this listing leads to the figure we expect, it would also give collectors the classic Battle Armor He-Man and Skeletor pairing in this new Origins assortment.
