TMNT Movie 5 Pack & 1988 Classic Figures Re-Release Early Look

Cowabunga! Huge thanks to @sgt.peppershobbyclub for posting these images and giving us an early look at some really cool new Playmates TMNT releases! We’ve got two exciting drops to talk about here, a brand new Cowabunga Forever 90s Movie Figures 5 Pack and individual re-releases of the 1988 Classic Basic Figures featuring all four Turtles. I love how Playmates keeps going back to the well on that original 1988 line because those figures are what started it all for so many of us, and seeing Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo back in their classic 4.5 inch basic figure format is just so much fun. And that 90s 5 Pack? Super exciting to see Playmates leaning into that radical 90s nostalgia with a dedicated Movie Figures box set. We don’t have all the details just yet on what’s included in the 5 Pack or exact release dates, but the fact that these are already showing up at retail overseas means they could be hitting shelves near us before we know it. So let’s take a look at the TMNT Cowabunga Forever 90s Movie Figures 5 Pack and the TMNT 1988 Classic Basic Figures re-release!
The packaging on this 5-pack is a love letter to the ’90s movies, with a sewer brick archway framing the window and a cityscape illustration up top showing all four Turtles peeking out from a manhole cover. The bottom panel features artwork of Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo, and Super Shredder posed in a sewer tunnel setting, each loaded up with their signature weapons and looking like they stepped right out of *Secret of the Ooze*.
Here’s a look at all four 1988 Classic Basic re-releases still sealed on their cards, and the packaging alone is a nostalgia trip. Each card features that iconic hand-illustrated artwork with the Turtles bursting through sewer brickwork, and the bright yellow bubble tray holds the figures alongside their signature weapons and accessories. You can see how each Turtle’s skin tone differs slightly across the four cards, with Leonardo and Donatello in darker olive-green shades while Michelangelo and Raphael lean into a lighter, more saturated green. The accessories are all molded in that same yellow plastic, tucked into the bubble trays alongside each figure, and it’s cool to see them keeping that original presentation intact.
