Fresh in from Mr. Home Arcade, we’ve got a fantastic set of in-hand images showcasing the Whiplash 200x MOTU Origins deluxe figure, and this one is going to turn some heads. The 200x redesign of Whiplash gave the character a much more menacing, reptilian presence compared to his vintage counterpart, and from what these images reveal, Mattel has done a solid job translating that updated aesthetic into the Origins scale. The sculpt carries a lot of the angular, almost dinosaur-like aggression that defined the 200x era, with the spiked tail, clawed hands, and that distinctive head sculpt all looking sharp and faithful to the source material. The armor and accessories appear well done too, capturing that heavier, more armored look that separated the 200x version from the classic. Color choices lean into the deeper greens and purples that fans of the Mike Young Productions series will immediately recognize. If you’ve been building out a 200x-themed Origins shelf, this Whiplash feels like one of those releases that really ties the display together. If you’re looking to secure one for your collection, you can only find the Whiplash 200x MOTU Origins Deluxe over on eBay right now (check stock status after the jump). Packaging

Whiplash fills the entire box window with his massive frame, those broad shoulders and thick limbs pressing right up against the edges of the packaging. Mr. Home Arcade gives a great look at just how much real estate this figure commands on the card, with barely any space left around him.

The side panel artwork depicts Whiplash in a crouching stance, his spiked tail curving overhead with a massive mace-like tip, while bony ridges and rib-like plating cover his hulking torso. The fiery red and orange gradient behind him gives the illustration a classic comic book energy, with crumbling rock beneath his clawed feet.

The back of the box features an incredible battle scene with Whiplash front and center, tail swinging as King Randor braces to defend himself, while Evil-Lyn and Skeletor loom in the purple haze behind them and Beast Man clashes with Man-At-Arms near the gates of Castle Grayskull. The bottom strip shows off cross-sell art for Clawful, Roboto, and Whiplash alongside a callout for his rotating tail feature.

The opposite side panel gives you a tight close-up of Whiplash’s snarling face, fangs bared and brow furrowed, with every ridge, bump, and horn on his skull rendered in heavy, detailed linework. Below the head, the rib-cage armor is prominently featured, its segmented bone plates layered over a dark torso against that same smoldering red backdrop.

Figure Details

The sculpt nails the 200x animated design, from the layered rib-like chest plating and bony shoulder spikes down to the segmented blue loincloth and ornate belt buckle with its spiral emblem. Those thick, clawed bare feet and squat proportions perfectly capture Whiplash’s brutish, top-heavy silhouette from the show.

From this straight-on front view, the contrast between the green skin tones and the blue wrist cuffs, knee guards, and loincloth panels really pops, with the warm orange belt buckle breaking up those two dominant colors right at the midsection. Those wide, clawed hands with their knuckle spikes hang naturally at the sides, and you can appreciate how the spotted patterning on the thighs adds a reptilian texture that separates the legs from the smoother upper body.

From the side, you get a perfect read on how the tail connects at the base and curves outward with a natural arc before terminating in that wicked spiked club. The ribbed underside of the tail shows distinct segmented sculpting all the way through, and you can see how much clearance it needs behind the figure just to display properly.

From the back, that spiked tail club practically leaps out of the frame, the forced perspective making it look like it’s about to burst right past you. The rear sculpt is loaded with bony protrusions running down the spine and scattered across the shoulders and upper arms, details you really only appreciate from this angle.

The opposite side profile shows off the sculpted muscle definition running down the upper arms and into those thick forearms, with the belt’s orange trim and buckle clearly visible wrapping around the waist. From here you also get a clean look at how the blue knee guards sit snugly over the calves, each one sculpted with a subtle raised trim along the edges.

You can see the loin skirt from above here, confirming it’s permanently glued in place rather than being a removable piece. The concentric ring pattern on the interior and the small center peg show how it’s molded as a single fixed unit that wraps tightly around the waist with no separation point.

I like the way the large circular plug section is fully exposed here because it gives a clean look at how the tail assembly connects directly into the blue back panel with a peg-style attachment system. The shell armor wraps over the upper back with an orange top layer sitting over the darker blue base, and Mr. Home Arcade did a great job framing the shot so the engineering details of the attachment point are front and center.

You can see that massive tail trailing behind him, thick and lined with ridged segments that taper down to a heavy spiked club at the tip. Mr. Home Arcade framed this to really show off how far back the tail extends, giving you a sense of the sheer length and bulk it adds to the figure’s overall footprint.

With both arms raised and that extra pair of limbs splayed wide, you get a clear sense of how much range the shoulders and elbows offer across all four arms. The head is tilted slightly upward too, showing off the neck joint’s ability to shift his gaze beyond just a straight-ahead stare.

Comparison Shots

Lined up between the Filmation Cartoon Collection version on the left and the vintage-style Origins release on the right, you can immediately see how much larger and more heavily sculpted the 200x Whiplash is compared to both. The Filmation version shares a similar bright green palette but with a much leaner build, while the vintage-style figure on the right leans yellow-green with a rounded shell-like chest piece, making the 200x redesign’s layered bone armor and exaggerated proportions feel like a completely different beast.

From the opposite side, the vintage-style Origins figure’s smooth, rounded back and compact tail sculpt on the right look almost toy-like next to the 200x version’s densely textured spine ridges and sprawling segmented tail. The Filmation version on the left splits the difference with its cleaner lines but still can’t match the sheer volume of overlapping bone detail and exaggerated mass that defines the 200x redesign from every angle.

The rear view really sells the differences in tail design across all three, with the 200x version’s thick, spike-tipped club dwarfing the Filmation figure’s smoother, more tapered tail on the left and the vintage-style Origins version’s compact, curled tail on the right. You can also see how the 200x back sculpt is covered in layered spinal ridges and scattered bone spurs, while the other two keep things far simpler with relatively clean, uncluttered backs.

Whiplash absolutely dominates the lineup of Deluxe 200x figures, towering over Beast Man on the left and Clawful on the right despite both of them being beefy, oversized figures in their own right. His broader torso and thicker limbs make the other two look almost lean by comparison, really driving home just how much extra mass the Deluxe treatment gave him.

Stacked up against the Deluxe Heroic Warriors, Whiplash holds his own next to Ram Man’s stocky, armored build but is clearly outsized by Roboto, whose towering blue and gray frame with those massive blocky shoulders makes him the largest of the entire Deluxe lineup. It’s a fun comparison that shows how varied the scaling runs across the 200x Deluxe figures, with each one occupying a very different silhouette.

Whiplash 200x MOTU Origins Deluxe In Hand Images 20

You can see just how huge Whiplash is towering over the rest of the 200x Evil Warriors lineup, especially considering Beast Man and Clawful are already massive figures in their own right. Flanked by Evil-Lyn, Skeletor, and Tri-Klops up front, he still dwarfs nearly everyone from the back row.
