MOTU Masters of the Universe First Ones Mattel Brick Shop Listings Discovered
I love when the breadcrumbs start forming a trail, and right now the Masters of the Universe movie toy trail is getting very interesting because once again we have to give a huge shoutout to El Cofre Geek for spotting three new MOTU First Ones listings tied to the Mattel Brick Shop, which immediately sent me down the rabbit hole trying to connect everything we have been tracking since we discovered the trademark renewal for a Fright Fighter building set. We already saw the shift from the internal First Ones name to Core on the action figure side, we reported on Amazon Mexico listings for characters like Man-At-Arms and Trap Jaw thanks to El Cofre Geek’s sleuthing, and now these brick based listings add an entirely new dimension to what we think is the movie’s merchandising strategy. We can probably bank on the First Ones being a code name that covers the Masters of the Universe movie toys as this is the second time the code name has been used to reference movie toys. While the product names are currently hidden behind code names that do not reveal much at face value, when you layer this discovery with the a Big Bad Toy Store leak of a Brick Shop Havoc Staff and the trademark renewal our very own Allison Troy (aka Retro Toy Princess) uncovered pointing to a Brick Shop Fright Fighter, it becomes hard to ignore the pattern that is forming. Everything suggests the Masters of the Universe movie is gearing up for brick vehicles, minifigures, and prop builds, which should absolutely make longtime MEGA collectors smile knowing that Eternia is continuing in construction form. It also appears that the MEGA brand for MOTU is transitioning into what is now being positioned as Mattel Brick Shop, signaling a new chapter for Mattel’s in house building system just as the movie approaches. I cannot make heads or tails of the specific code names yet, but when you step back and look at the trademarks, retailer leaks, and international listings together, this feels coordinated and deliberate, and I am genuinely excited to package all of this together and share the full breakdown because the movie line is clearly expanding beyond figures into full world building territory.

MEGA —> Mattel Brick Shop
What really helps bring this all into focus is the official announcement from Mattel confirming that the company is expanding its portfolio into building sets under a new brand called Mattel Brick Shop, which tells me this is not just a quiet rebrand but a strategic evolution of its construction category. According to the Business Wire release, Mattel Brick Shop is being positioned as a dedicated building sets brand that will sit alongside Mattel’s powerhouse franchises, signaling a broader push into the construction aisle with a fresh identity and long term commitment. For those of us who have followed MEGA over the years, this feels like a formal turning of the page as Mattel consolidates and refines its approach to brick based play under a unified banner. When you line that up with the recent First Ones listings El Cofre Geek uncovered and the earlier retailer and trademark clues we have been tracking, it starts to look less like coincidence and more like coordinated rollout timing tied to the Masters of the Universe movie. I have to admit, seeing Mattel publicly plant its flag with Mattel Brick Shop makes all of these MOTU brick rumors feel far more grounded because now we know the infrastructure is there, the branding is in place, and the category is officially part of Mattel’s forward looking strategy.

Fright Fighter Trademark Renewal and Movie Trailer Appearance
Could the Fright Fighter be swooping into the MOTU MEGA line now called Mattel Brick shop? It sure looks that way, and I have to give a huge shoutout to Allison Troy, aka The Retro Toy Princess, for catching Mattel’s latest trademark renewal for the Fright Fighter! What’s got my collector senses tingling is the specific wording in the filing as it mentions “construction toys,” which she also called out, which strongly hints at something MEGA-sized rather than another MOTU Origins vehicle. Given that Mattel seems to be taking a breather from releasing new vehicles in the Origins line, this little detail might just be the clue we’ve been waiting for. The MEGA line has been a favorite of mine with its mini buildable vehicles so the Fright Fighter would fit right in as a perfect fusion of nostalgia and creativity. I can already picture the sleek bat-like design rendered in MEGA bricks, maybe with some play features built right in! While we have not seen a MEGA MOTU set in a while and we had high hopes that the Laser Bolt and War Sled were coming back in October 2023, it remains a mystery if we will see the Fright Fighter. Whether this is coincidence or a carefully planned move by Mattel, the possibility of finally seeing a Fright Fighter set in the MEGA lineup has me more than intrigued than anything else. We know from the Masters of the Universe Movie trailer that the Fright Fighter has been spotted and we don’t know form it will actually take but it’s exciting news!

The Fright Fighter trademark renewal filing specifies that it falls under the category of Construction Toys, indicating that the mark is intended for use with building or assembly-style toy products. This classification covers items such as toy construction sets, vehicles, and related accessories within that toy category, like you’d see in the MEGA line.

We can also see that the trademark renewal is for Contruction toys, which points directly to Mattel Brick Shop

Fright Fighter Vintage MOTU Vehicle
The box art for the Masters of the Universe Fright Fighter showcases the “Evil dragonfly attack vehicle” in vivid detail, featuring Skeletor piloting the purple and magenta craft against a fiery orange background. The artwork highlights the vehicle’s large translucent wings, insect-like legs, and forward-facing claws, with heroic figures depicted below to emphasize its scale. The side panels show product photography with a child demonstrating the wing-flapping and grabbing features, giving a clear look at how the vehicle functions in play.

The Fright Fighter vehicle features a sleek, insect-inspired design with long, translucent black wings accented by teal striping and a deep magenta body. The cockpit canopy is tinted brown with blue trim, leading to a sculpted front section that includes two red, claw-like pincers and dual mounted blasters underneath. Dragon Blaster Skeletor is shown seated in the cockpit, giving a sense of scale and fit, though the canopy remains open due to his Dragon, standard MOTU figures would fit inside and allow the cockpit to close properly.

Fright Fighter Mattel Brick Shop Custom Concept
We love to feature concepts and this one comes from David from Facebook and although this custom Fright Frighter concept leans heavily into the vintage toy look, we would welcome this to the line with open shelves! As for a movie style version, we are likly to see sleeker design based on the appearance in the trailer.

This custom Mattel Brick Shop Fright Fighter is built in bold pink and blue bricks with a compact cockpit framed by a dark translucent canopy, and I can see a pilot seated inside gripping the controls as those four long black rotor blades stretch out from the top hub.

The front end narrows into a rounded pink nose with dual gray cannons mounted on either side, while bright orange pincers clamp down on Roboto, who is caught mid-air with his silver helmet, clear chest dome, and mechanical limbs visible as he’s lifted off the ground, poor guy. From the alternate angle, the rear tail boom extends back in solid pink with a small gray turret at the end, and the clear stand underneath props the vehicle up to simulate flight, letting those rotors movie freely while the pincers snap open and closed like a true action feature we would absolutely love to see brought to life.

Brick Shop Havoc Staff Leak
Adding even more fuel to the Brick Shop momentum, a listing has also surfaced for a Masters of the Universe 2026 Mattel Brick Shop Skeletor Havoc Staff 1/2 Scale Replica, further reinforcing that the movie merchandising strategy is expanding beyond figures and vehicles into prop builds. While the listing itself does not provide detailed imagery or specifications, the product title alone strongly suggests a buildable display piece inspired by Skeletor and his signature weapon. Given that the Havoc Staff from the upcoming film was physically on display at San Diego Comic Con 2025, it feels very likely that this brick replica will be modeled after that cinematic version rather than a vintage interpretation. If that proves true, this would mark a major step in translating full scale movie props into construction form under the Mattel Brick Shop banner, giving fans a new way to bring Eternian power into their collections.

BBTS Preorder and Listing
This is a 1/2 scale Skeletor Havoc Staff replica from the Masters of the Universe line, released under Mattel’s new Brick Shop building brand. Made up of 966 pieces, the set recreates Skeletor’s iconic ram skull-topped staff at nearly 40 inches long, complete with a light-up feature and articulated jaw.
