Mekaneck 2026 MOTU Movie Core Figure Review

I finally got Mekaneck in hand, and since he’s my all-time favorite in the MOTU line, I couldn’t wait to really dive into this figure. Mekaneck has always been one of those characters that sits right at the heart of what makes Masters of the Universe so fun. He is weird, he is wonderful, and his power is literally having a long neck. From the vintage line to Classics to Origins, every version of this character has tried to capture that bizarre charm, and seeing him reimagined through the lens of the 2026 movie is a full circle moment I was not expecting to hit this hard given the emotional attachment I have with him. At the 5.5-inch core scale, Mattel has done a great job translating whatever the film’s design team cooked up into a compact, well-articulated figure that still feels unmistakably like Mekaneck. The sculpt carries a lot of personality, and the included additional neck piece lets you pull off his signature extended look, which is really the whole point. You also get a blaster in the box, which is a nice touch and gives him some extra display versatility. For a core figure at this price point, it all comes together really well, and I am really happy to have him sitting alongside the rest of the movie lineup as it builds out. Huge thanks to Big Bad Toy Store for sending this Mekaneck over for review, and if he has been on your must have list, you can still grab him now at Big Bad Toy Store.
Packaging
The front of the card shows Mekaneck sealed in the blister with his red helmet, blue bodysuit, and silver mechanical accessories, while the back reveals the Castle Grayskull artwork featuring Skel-Knight and Skeletor alongside Mekaneck’s character bio. True to his “Heroic Human Periscope” title, his stat bars highlight maxed-out Observation and high Intelligence and Tech ratings, reflecting his role as Eternia’s go-to recon specialist with that signature extending neck.

Figure Details
A front and back look at Mekaneck shows the full scope of his blue bodysuit, with its segmented armor sculpting on the arms, thighs, and torso broken up by the red chest armor piece and matching red helmet with green visor lenses. The back reveals the chest armor wraps around to a solid red backplate with a sculpted emblem at the center, while dark brown boots, black gloves, and silver knee guards round out the color blocking nicely.

From the side, the mechanical joint connecting Mekaneck’s upper and lower arms stands out, with a silver disc-shaped connector piece and black ridged detailing that mirrors the tech aesthetic of his neck mechanism. The red chest armor has a skeletal, open-frame design with cutout sections that let the blue bodysuit show through underneath.

The front and back close-up here really highlights how Mekaneck’s mechanical neck segments work with the red chest armor. From the front, the silver ridged neck piece sits prominently above the armor’s open-frame cutouts, with the layered mechanical vertebrae feeding directly into a silver collar that transitions into the chest plate. The back view shows the neck extension flowing out from beneath the helmet and down over the solid red backplate, with the segmented silver sculpting creating a nice contrast against the smooth armor surface.

Mekaneck’s two accessories are laid out here: a compact silver blaster with textured detailing and a neck extension piece with a ball joint at the top and ridged, mechanical sculpting running down its length. The metallic finish on both pieces has a nice sheen to it, giving them a cohesive look together.

The blaster is a compact silver and dark gray pistol with a textured grip and short barrel. It’s a clean, simple sculpt that fits well in Mekaneck’s hand without looking oversized.

Front and back views show Mekaneck posed with his blaster raised, and the real fun here is that his mechanical neck can swivel around so he’s aiming backwards while his body faces forward. It’s a clever bit of playability that leans into the character’s periscope gimmick, and honestly, it just looks cool.

My original Mekaneck had to make a cameo in this review, and you can really see how far the Core line has come when the two are side by side. The vintage figure’s simpler sculpt and flat blue torso contrast sharply with the 2026 version’s layered mechanical neck detailing, silver armor texturing, and those green-tinted visor lenses.
