Cowabunga! Huge thanks to @mondonews for revealing this super exciting SDCC 2026 exclusive! Slash is back and absolutely dripping in mutagen glory. Mondo is releasing a Mutagen Variant of their incredible Slash Soft Vinyl Figure, and I just love how they describe it as “emerging fresh from the ooze.” How amazing is that?! For those who grabbed the original Slash soft vinyl, this variant takes the whole concept and reimagines it with that classic ooze-green mutagen colorway that we all associate with the substance that changed everything in the sewers of New York. That translucent glow is something else, and I can already picture this one looking stunning on a shelf under any kind of light. Slash has always been one of my favorite deep cut characters from the TMNT universe, that rage-fueled snapping turtle with a grudge and a spiked shell, and seeing Mondo continue to give him the spotlight in their soft vinyl line is so much fun. Slash is a wild one in this mutagen variant, with that translucent soft vinyl body letting all the interior color bleed through in greens, pinks, and purples. The gold plastron and metallic purple accents on his armor and mask create this incredible contrast against the glow-ready vinyl, and those spiked accessories have a frosted pink finish that ties the whole mutagen-soaked look together.

Here’s a closer look at the sheer size of this thing, and at 8.5 inches tall, Slash has a real heft to him sitting in hand. The soft vinyl catches light differently across every curve and spike, with that frosted pink mace head looking almost candy-like against the pearlescent teal of his skin.

I’m really digging the depth of color layering on Slash’s face here, where the metallic purple mask sits over that pearlescent teal skin with just a hint of the translucent vinyl catching warm tones around his grimacing jaw. The vertebrae-styled club has a really organic, almost coral-like texture up close, with the frosted pink material making each knobby segment look wet and freshly pulled from the ooze.

Surrounded by all four Turtles, Slash absolutely towers over them, and you get a real sense of how much chunkier the soft vinyl sculpt is compared to the more traditionally proportioned figures flanking him. Something I appreciate here is how the mutagen color palette reads as genuinely alien next to the classic green, brown, and olive skin tones of Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo, making Slash look like he just crawled out of a completely different dimension of ooze.

Here’s a closer look at the back of Slash’s shell, and the sculpt work is genuinely impressive, with each section featuring its own distinct pattern of concentric swirls and organic bumps that give the whole carapace a lived-in, mutated feel. A jagged spine of white, bone-like protrusions runs down the center where the shell meets his body, and you can spot clusters of pinkish crystalline growths erupting from the edges like the mutation is still actively spreading.

Covered in that pearlescent teal, Slash’s arm and shoulder armor really pop here, with the metallic purple fins sweeping back from his shoulders and catching warm light that shifts them between violet and magenta. The spiked mace in the foreground has a gorgeous gradient through each individual spike, fading from frosted pink at the tips to a deeper magenta at the base where they meet the ball.

The glow-in-the-dark effect on Slash’s face is downright eerie up close, with those blank white eyes burning through the darkness while the teeth and jaw ridges hold the brightest concentration of green luminescence. His wrist wraps and the dark recesses around his nostrils and eye sockets stay pitch black, creating pockets of shadow that make the glowing features feel almost like they’re floating.

What really catches my eye is how the glow-in-the-dark effect transforms Slash into something completely different from the standard release, with that bright green luminescence pushing through the translucent vinyl and pooling intensely in the thicker sculpted areas like his toes and shell spikes. The dark brown and black deco details on his wrist wraps, knee pads, and belt buckle stay shadowy against all that green glow, creating this cool X-ray-like effect where the sculpted texture of his plastron and loincloth still reads clearly even in the dark.

You can see how the shell becomes the real star in the dark, with those raised bumps and ridged panels glowing brightest where the vinyl is thickest, almost like each node is its own little light source. His spiked blade accessories maintain a ghostly white luminescence that separates them cleanly from the deeper green saturation of the body.

Slash comes with a solid spread of accessories, and this layout gives you a good sense of the full arsenal: a spiked mace, a serrated blade with a circular guard, and what looks like a bony, vertebrae-styled club, all cast in that same frosted translucent pink. The orange “S” buckle on his belt and the warm gold patches on his knees and toes add pops of warmth that keep the cooler teal and purple palette from going monotone.
