Thanks to Mr. Home Arcade on YouTube, we finally have a great in-hand look at the upcoming MOTU Origins Movie Teela, and I really like how this figure turned out. We’ve been following Teela for quite a while, going all the way back to when the MOTU Origins Movie Teela prototype appeared on the Fright Fighter box, followed by her official reveal and Target exclusive preorder alongside Skeletor. Those earlier looks gave us a pretty good idea of what to expect, but seeing the actual production figure gives us a much better sense of how everything came together. Teela has a very different look from the classic version of the character, and I think Mattel did a really nice job bringing the movie design into the Origins format. There’s a lot going on with the sculpted armor and costume details, and I’m particularly happy with how the headsculpt turned out. The in-hand images also give us a clearer look at the paintwork, colors, textures, and accessories, all of which help sell this as something distinctly different for an Origins shelf while still fitting comfortably alongside the rest of the line. He also gets creative and makes a custom figure, which you can find out who below! Be sure to check out Mr. Home Arcade’s full review on YouTube, and scroll down for all of the in-hand images.

The front card frames Teela against a rock-burst Castle Grayskull design, with the red debris radiating around the blister. Mr. Home Arcade pairs it with the back card, where @fetch.franciscoetchart does an amazing job illustrating Teela standing before Castle Grayskull with her sword drawn.

Figure Details

The front view shows the bodice’s ribbed waist panels and asymmetrical dark harness, which crosses the hips and loops around both thighs. At the back, the harness forms a broad X beneath a pointed gold waist plate, with a center seam running down the bodice.

The opposing side views emphasize the costume’s asymmetry, with a plain brown wrap on one forearm and a gold-plated dark bracer on the other. Layered white, gold, and dark panels also give each side of Teela’s hip armor a different profile.

With all of her removable parts detached, Teela’s plain white bodysuit and brown forearm wraps are fully exposed. The separate gold armor pieces, sword, and dark weapon make the layered construction of her movie costume especially clear.

A metallic-gold finish covers the sword, while the raised central ridge and angular facets give the long blade a more dimensional sculpt.

The head swap places Teela’s more naturalistic movie portrait on the cartoon body at left, while the angular cartoon portrait sits on the movie body at right. The contrast in facial style and hair sculpt makes the two interpretations easy to separate even without their original bodies.

With the heads swapped, Teela’s broader movie portrait sits on the original body at left, while the smaller original portrait rests on the movie body at right.

From left, the six Teela versions are 200X Cartoon Collection, Filmation Cartoon Collection, Movie, original Origins, Turtles of Grayskull, and the Zoar two-pack release. Mr. Home Arcade’s lineup makes the broader 200X build and heavily armored Turtles of Grayskull design particularly easy to compare with the other interpretations.

Movie Teela has a broader, more compact build than Core Teela, whose narrower torso and longer legs produce a leaner silhouette. The tied-up hair and silver-trimmed bodice also separate the movie design from Core Teela’s loose curls and gold chest armor.

Reversing the portraits puts Core Teela’s head on the movie body and the movie head on the Core body, with closely matched skin tones keeping both swaps visually cohesive and they look great!

Beside Teela, Mr. Home Arcade’s custom Lucy contrasts the movie costume’s clean white-and-gold styling with blue trousers, black boots, a spiked shoulder guard, and a blood-marked blade.

On the left is Mr. Home Arcade’s custom Lucy from Fallout, built with the Teela head after he noticed its resemblance to the actress, and I have to agree. The brunette and red-haired versions make the shared facial sculpt especially clear, even as the paint app on the figures take it in completely different directions.

Mr. Home Arcade assembles the movie heroic-warrior lineup with Ram Man, He-Man, Roboto, Man-At-Arms, Teela, Moss Man, and Battle Cat from left to right. The group makes the size differences especially clear, with Roboto and Battle Cat towering over the everyone.

The back-to-back side view isolates the movie portrait on Core Teela’s body, with the ridged high bun, gold headband, and loose face-framing strand defining the profile.
