Laser Light Skeletor MOTU Origins Mattel Creations Exclusive Hi-Res Artwork Revealed

I have the power! Well, in this case, Skeletor has the power, and it’s laser light power at that! Huge thanks to @axel.gimenez for posting the incredible hi-res packaging artwork for the upcoming Laser Light Skeletor MOTU Origins Mattel Creations exclusive. The line art is by Axel himself, with colors by @dc_alonso_colorist, and design and art direction by @manuel_eduardo_caritas, and I have to say the results are absolutely stunning. Laser Light Skeletor is one of those deep cut characters that so many of us have been waiting to see get the Origins treatment. The original vintage figure was part of that amazing late-run era of Masters of the Universe where things got really wild and creative, and seeing the Evil Master of Light Energy reimagined for the Origins line is super exciting. The artwork on this packaging is something else, I love how they’ve captured that energy and menace with Skeletor surrounded by those glowing crystals and that incredible staff. And eagle-eyed fans will notice some really cool details in the cardback art too, including appearances by Blade and Saurod! How amazing is that?! Be sure to check out our deep dive into the teased characters on our Laser Light SKeletor Box Art Teases Saurod, Blade, and Skelcons article. The community is already buzzing about how the light-up glow feature on the staff might work in Origins scale, and I can’t wait to find out more. This is exactly the kind of release that reminds us why MOTU Origins continues to be so much fun for collectors who grew up loving these characters. Club Grayskull members get first access through Mattel Creations on October 12, 2026, at 9:00 am PT, while the preorder opens to everyone else on October 13 at 9:00 am PT. The figure is priced at $33, and Mattel lists October 12, 2026, at 9:00 am PT as the release/ship date. So let’s take a look at the Laser Light Skeletor MOTU Origins hi-res packaging artwork!

The card art is gorgeous here, with Skeletor rendered in rich blues and deep purple, clashing with He-Man against a backdrop of crystalline caverns. The illustration by Axel Gimenez and colored by DC Alonso is packed with energy, featuring Blade and Saurod lurking in the background alongside those unmistakable translucent red accessories nestled inside the window box below.

Here’s a closer look at the back of the packaging, and the composition is just as striking. Skeletor dominates the scene in a cybernetic, almost techno-organic suit with vivid magentas and deep reds, his yellow skull face grinning beneath that signature purple hood while a glowing energy blade erupts from his gauntlet.

The full artwork by Axel Gimenez really shines here, with Skeletor’s Havoc Staff glowing an intense red at the tip while Blade and Saurod flank him in the shadows of what looks like a massive industrial stronghold. Down below, He-Man’s laser-powered sword blazes a brilliant yellow-orange, and you can just make out rows of Skelecons assembled in the hazy blue light behind the main clash.

You can see how the full illustration opens up into a sweeping crystal cavern scene, with towering purple and violet crystal formations jutting out from the rocky terrain in every direction. Small orange creatures scramble across the lower cliffs, adding a sense of scale and chaos to the moment unfolding above. What really catches my eye is the contrast between Skeletor’s glowing red energy beam firing from his chest-mounted cannon and He-Man’s blazing yellow power sword cutting through the haze above. The Skelecons scrambling along the rocky ledges below sell the scale of this environment beautifully, their wiry orange forms dwarfed by the massive jagged crystal spires rising all around them.

Clad in a deep purple fabric hood and cape, Skeletor cuts an imposing figure with that yellow-green skull face and piercing red eyes peering out from beneath the cowl. The translucent red Havoc Staff has a gorgeous jewel-like quality to it, and the bronze chest armor is loaded with intricate mechanical detailing, tubes, and gears that pair nicely with the matching shin guards and clawed boots.

With the light-up feature switched on, Skeletor’s eyes glow deep red while his right hand burns orange-red. The eyes are the stronger effect for me, giving that fixed skull grin a wonderfully eerie spark of life.

The deep furrows in Skeletor’s forehead run into sharply angled black eye sockets, while the fine vertical lines across his teeth give the skull sculpt an especially severe expression.

The huge curled horns atop the translucent Havoc Staff are ridiculous in exactly the right way.

Skeletor’s bright red right hand looks almost borrowed from another figure beside the blue left hand, a wonderfully odd bit of asymmetry even before it lights up.

A chunky bronze housing rises from Skeletor’s back, covered in ribbed edges, raised symbols, and a small circular mechanical panel.
