“You’ve got me?! Who’s got you?!” How exciting is this! We just got our first look at the official images for the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Elite Edition Clark Kent figure from Superman: The Movie (1978), and boy are we thrilled! Huge thanks to Heroes & Villains for posting these images. This figure is set to go up for pre-order on November 5th at 12pm EDT and will be available at retailers like our sponsors BigBadToyStore, Entertainment Earth, and Nerdzoicc. I always loved the Christopher Reeve portrayal of Clark Kent, that brilliant contrast between the bumbling reporter and the Man of Steel hiding just beneath the surface. There’s something so special about getting a Clark Kent figure rather than a suited-up Superman, and the fact that McFarlane is giving it the Elite Edition treatment makes it even more super exciting. The 1978 film is the one that made the world believe a man could fly, and it’s really cool to see McFarlane continuing to dig into that classic movie legacy for the DC Multiverse line. So let’s take a look at the McFarlane DC Multiverse Clark Kent Superman The Movie Elite Edition!
The packaging uses a stylish black and silver design, with a Daily Planet press badge featuring Clark’s bespectacled portrait tucked into the lower left corner of the card art. Through the window, you can see he comes loaded with swap-out hands, an alternate bespectacled head sculpt, and what looks like a briefcase among the accessories.

The box art on the side panel features a great close-up photo of Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent, complete with the oversized round glasses, slightly disheveled dark hair, and that perfectly knotted striped tie over a white dress shirt. It’s a nice presentation overall, with the window giving you a clear look at the figure and its tray of accessories before you even open things up.

The rear of the outer box features a classic promotional still from Superman: The Movie, with Christopher Reeve soaring through a nighttime cityscape, his red cape trailing behind him against the glow of illuminated skyscraper windows. I like how the gold “Elite Edition” text running vertically along the spine pairs with the clean white side panel, giving the whole package a premium, almost collector’s vault kind of feel.

The packaging artwork features a stylized illustration of Clark Kent mid-transformation alongside the fully coated reporter look, with the Daily Planet press badge prominently displayed between them. You can see how the box layout gives you a clear view of the included accessories, from the swap hands to the alternate head sculpt, all arranged around the suited figure.

Outfitted with the tan trenchcoat and fedora, Clark Kent looks every bit the unassuming Daily Planet reporter, with the coat’s fabric draping naturally and the belt cinched at the waist. The brown briefcase and wire-frame glasses complete the disguise, and I like how the layered suit underneath, with the dark tie and light blue collar, adds real depth to the silhouette.

Clark Kent captures that iconic transformation moment, with his dark suit jacket pulled open to reveal the Superman suit underneath. The “S” shield pops against the blue of the suit, and the light blue dress shirt and loosened tie layered over it sell the mid-change look perfectly.

Here’s a closer look at everything that comes packed in with Clark Kent. The accessory spread is impressive, with an alternate Clark Kent head sculpt, two different shirt-and-tie collar pieces, multiple swap hands, a pair of glasses, a brown leather briefcase, a fedora, a tan trenchcoat, a Daily Planet press badge, a miniature newspaper, and a lanyard with a Superman shield emblem.

Clark Kent’s head sculpt has a strong Christopher Reeve likeness, with the neatly parted dark hair and sharp jawline capturing the actor’s features well. The muted purple tie with subtle diagonal striping is a nice touch against the charcoal three-piece suit, and the sculpted lapels and vest layering underneath the jacket give the outfit real dimension.

Clark Kent captures that iconic shirt-rip moment perfectly, with his dark charcoal suit jacket and dress shirt pulled open to reveal the Superman suit underneath, complete with the bold red and yellow S-shield against bright blue. The tie is sculpted mid-flutter off to one side, and the wrinkled fabric of the unbuttoned shirt has a nice sense of movement to it, selling the urgency of the transformation.

Here’s a closer look at Clark Kent from the back, where you can really appreciate the tailored cut of the suit jacket and how the sculpted seams run cleanly along the shoulders and down the center. The slicked-back hair has fine comb lines carved into it, with just a hint of the light blue dress shirt collar peeking out above the jacket’s neckline.

I’m really digging how the fedora is caught mid-air above Clark Kent’s head, selling the urgency of the transformation moment as the hat gets tossed aside. The sculpted texture on the charcoal suit jacket has a nice leathery grain to it, and the striped tie fluttering to the side adds a great sense of motion to the whole scene.

You can see how the full spread looks laid out together, with the Daily Planet press badge scaled down to figure size and featuring a photo and “Clark Kent, Reporter” text. The included collector card with the Clark Kent portrait photo is a fun bonus, and the removable vest piece sitting alongside the trenchcoat shows just how many display options this figure offers.
