Alcala Skeletor MOTU Core Art And Packaging Reveal
When the Gold Alcala Skeletor first surfaced, nobody at Mattel had even teased it yet was discovered completely by chance at a Walmart by Discovering Pandora / Masters of Grayskull, who was kind enough to send it our way, and we were thrilled to put together a full review of the figure. That whole experience felt like the kind of grassroots discovery that makes this hobby so rewarding, a figure just quietly hitting shelves before it’s official release date and finding its way into the community through word of mouth rather than a big marketing rollout. Now, thanks to Roy Juarez, we finally get the official close look at the packaging design and the incredible artwork that brings this release to life. Roy shared the full packaging reveal on Instagram along with his usual 360 video, and the presentation is absolutely stunning. The card art, handled by @axel.gimenez with colors by @dc_alonso_colorist, leans into that classic Alfredo Alcala energy that fans have come to associate with this variant, and it delivers. The figure’s packaging design and art direction came from Roy himself, with toy design by Steven Redinger, packaging engineering by L. Pukhrambam, and copywriting by Melissa Karlin. Seeing the full team credited like this is something I always appreciate because it reminds us just how many talented people collaborate to make a single carded figure feel special on the pegs. The fan-dubbed “Alcala Skeletor” name has clearly stuck, and with packaging this strong backing it up, it feels like a worthy tribute to one of the most beloved art styles in Masters of the Universe history. We also disocvered that this figure will be going up for preorder for Walmart Collector Con on March 19, 2026 so you’ll have a chance to order it soon!
MOTU Core Logo Design
A gold-toned rock burst graphic is centered around radiating metallic rays, serving as the logo reveal for the non movie figures.

The artwork highlights the detailed cross-hatching and ink line work on the stone archway and Skeletor’s blue skin. The watercolor texture is more apparent at this level, with visible color washes layering the purple of his harness and the warm gold of his cape. It also shows the detailed linework on his fingers wrapped tightly around the textured shaft. The ornate circular medallion on his chest harness features concentric ring patterns with a sunburst center and claw-like prongs radiating outward. Runic or symbolic text that’s inscribed on the stone wall behind him, which is Axel Gimenez’s signature.

This wider view of the artwork shows Beast Man carrying in Teela, which is an homage to the He-Man and the Power Sword mini comic.

Skeletor is packed on card in a clear plastic blister, posed upright with his ram-headed Havoc Staff placed to his right. The figure features light blue skin, a purple hooded cowl, a gold and purple chest harness with skull emblem, purple loincloth with gold button details, and gold-pointed boot tips. The card backing uses a black and gold radial burst design framing the blister window.

Here is the art we described earlier, now shown in its full presentation with all of the logos and text applied. Skeletor stands at the mouth of a rocky cave with both arms raised, gripping his ram’s head staff as his yellow cape flows behind him, while the blue toned armor and purple harness details stand out against the cavern setting. In the background, Beast Man moves across the rocky ground carrying Teela over his shoulder beneath a crescent moon, adding another layer to the scene as the illustration builds the moment around Skeletor’s triumphant pose. The bottom portion of the artwork includes the title “The Revenge of Skeletor” along with the additional packaging graphics and text elements layered over the illustration.

Based on the graphic on the Walmart Collector Con site, the Alcala Face Skeletor MOTU CORE figure is set to make his debut!
