If you grew up popping tiny cassette Transformers into Soundwave’s chest compartment, you already know why this one hits different. The Masterpiece line from Takara Tomy has been steadily building out the Decepticon communications officer’s world, and now the full crew is ready to report for duty. Two new sets have just gone up for preorder over at BigBadToyStore, and they cover every single one of Soundwave’s classic cassette minions. First up is the MPG-21 Rumble and Frenzy set, priced at $74.99, which gives you both iconic cassette bots fully articulated and ready to transform into their micro cassette tape alt modes. Each one comes packed with a pair of press arms and blasters, so you can recreate those piledrivers-into-the-ground moments from the cartoon. Then there is the MPG-22 Jaguar, Buzzsaw, and Ratbat set at $109.99, bundling the three animal-mode cassettes together with that same meticulous G1-inspired deco and full transformation engineering. Both sets are designed to combine with the separately sold MPG-19 Soundwave, which means collectors building out that display will finally have the complete squad. The January 2027 ship date is a ways off, but that is the nature of Masterpiece collecting, and locking in preorders early is always the smart move with Takara Tomy releases that tend to sell through quickly.
Where to Buy
You can preorder the figures at the following retailers below

Transformers Masterpiece G MPG-21 Rumble & Frenzy Action Figure Set
Rumble and Frenzy are displayed side by side in robot mode, each sporting oversized piledrivers attached to their arms. Rumble, on the left, features a purple and blue color scheme with yellow and white accents on his legs, while Frenzy, on the right, is primarily red and black with yellow chest detailing and dark blue lower legs. Both figures share the same general body structure and proportions, with small silver horns on their heads and compact, blocky torsos.

Both Rumble and Frenzy are shown alongside their respective cassette tape alternate modes, with Rumble’s cassette rendered in purple and Frenzy’s in red and blue. Each figure holds a silver blaster weapon with a three-pronged barrel in one hand, and the cassette modes feature sculpted reel and spool details on their surfaces.

Soundwave stands prominently in robot mode at center, with his yellow-framed chest cassette door visible, serving as a scale reference for the surrounding cassette minions. Rumble and Frenzy are positioned at his feet in robot mode, flanked by Ravage in beast mode between them, while Ratbat, Buzzsaw, and Laserbeak hover in their animal alternate modes around Soundwave’s upper body.

Jaguar, Buzzsaw, and Ratbat are displayed together in their beast modes. Buzzsaw, at the upper left, takes the form of a yellow and black bird with folded dark wings and a rectangular sensor on his head. Ratbat, at the upper right, is shown in a wide-winged bat form with a maroon and yellow color scheme, translucent purple head crest, and circular red-orange chest sensors. Jaguar is posed at the bottom center in a quadrupedal feline mode rendered in silver and dark gray, with a sleek, angular silhouette and articulated legs.
Transformers Masterpiece G MPG-22 Jaguar & Buzzsaw & Ratbat Action Figure Set

Each of the three cassette figures is shown in both beast and cassette tape modes, with arrows indicating the transformation between them. Jaguar’s cassette form is predominantly black with silver reel details and purple faction insignias on each side, while Buzzsaw’s cassette is yellow and gray with a central slot detail. Ratbat’s cassette mode is rendered in deep maroon and black, matching his bat form’s color palette.

Seen here from slightly different angles than the previous group shot, Jaguar’s feline mode reveals panel line detailing along the back and haunches, with small pointed ears and a narrow snout. Buzzsaw’s bird form shows tapered wing tips with sculpted feather-like segments and a small tail fin at the rear, while Ratbat’s outstretched wings display etched geometric panel work across their undersides.

Six cassette figures are arranged in their tape alternate modes in front of Soundwave in his cassette player form, with Jaguar, Buzzsaw, and Ratbat in the front row alongside three additional cassettes in the back row. The grouping highlights the relative uniformity in size among all the cassette modes, each fitting neatly to scale with Soundwave’s chest compartment door.

Soundwave towers at center in robot mode, surrounded by all six cassette minions in their respective beast and robot forms. Ravage crouches at his feet between Rumble and Frenzy, while Laserbeak and Buzzsaw flank Soundwave at shoulder height in their bird modes and Ratbat spreads his wings above to the left.
