Extendar Official Images
Official Product Description: Extendar was one of the last figures released in the vintage MOTU line back in the 1980s. This Hordak experiment-turned-hero uses an extendable body to leap great distances and his powerful reach to fend off attackers. We brought Extendar back and now, for the first time, he’s in Origins form with a unique body that extends. Our figure has 16 points of articulation and extendable limbs to set him above and beyond any collection.

” AWESOME BY EXTENSION: We brought back a cyborg warrior from the 1980s. Hordak’s “experiment,” Extendar, was one of He-Man’s most courageous allies and is now an Origins figure.”

” KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR: In addition to his extending body, our robotic knight has 16 points of articulation and wards off enemies with his folding shield.”

“WITHIN REACH: Victory in battle against The Evil Horde is always possible with Extendar on your side. His extending limbs and head will make him the hero of your collection.”

Extendar
Extendar was also a very unique figure and looked nothing like previous figures that were released in the line. Taking on more of a knight appearance, this figure came out very late in the line and was not featured in the cartoon but he does have a mini comic backstoryAccording to the Wiki Grayskull:
Occasionally referred to in comics as the ‘Tower of Power’, Extendar was introduced into the Masters of the Universe toy line in 1986, at a stage when the toy line was breaking away from its roots in pure fantasy, and introducing more robotic and mechanical characters. Given that the accompanying cartoon series had been cancelled by the time his toy reached the market, he never appears in animated form. However, he features prominently in various comics and storybooks, and is introduced in the Mattel mini-comic “The Warrior Machine”. This comic showcases him as a friend of Prince Adam who is an ordinary knight, but yearns for special powers of his own after witnessing the skills of the Horde warrior Dragstor. Hordak subsequently grants his wish and subjects him to scientific experiments which turn him into a mechanical cyborg warrior with the power of extension. Invincible at full height, he is set upon He-Man, but manages to throw off Hordak’s curse and join the Heroic Warriors. Subsequent mini-comics portray him as one of the most powerful members of his ranks.
Extendar
Extendar’s gimmick was pretty cool! He could grow larger by pulling on his neck, arms, and legs.

Extendar In Hand Images
Extendar is one of the more unique figures in the Masters of the Universe line and this updated version does not dissappoint!

Here is a review by Mr. Home Arcade!
His overall paint app is silver with gold accesnts on the shoulders, hands, boots, and various places on the figure to break up all of the silver paint app. His knight armor, funny enough, has some killer ab detail and, on the back, his design makes it look like he has armor plates with rivets on his back.

His shield can unfurl into a larger shield, which clips around his wrists.

Extendar is big boy and he towers over Man-At-Arms and he is taller than the Turtles of Grayskull Krang.

He looks amazing fully extended as his neck, waist, and arms retain his action feature.

With the card back, we can see a cool scene with Extendar fighting off the Evil Horde! Dragstor is finally teased as well as the Fright Zone so we can’t wait for more MOTU!

Extendar SDCC2023 Reveal
Coming Spring 2024, Extendar’s extension pieces are separate parts to help maintain elbow articulation. He has removable parts just like the rest of the figures. His head and torso extend from inside his body and he comes with his transforming shield.

Extendar Teases
Extendar is also seen atop Grayskull Tower as the latest tease was from the Eternia box art.

We first saw Extendar on Kobra Khan’s card back art! These are some spectacular character teases! With two appearances, it is more likely we see Extendar coming to the line soon and we can’t wait!

He is also teased on Squeeeze’s and Spikor’s card art!

Fright Zone Tease
The Fright Zone playset was released by Mattel in 1985. More of a diorama piece, the Fright Zone was a simple looking playset that consisted of that famous green colored craggily stone, a rustic dungeon door, a tunnel for a puppet snake to come thru and a scary looking tree complete with scarecrows. This playset was a huge departure for the vast environments that Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain brought, but I think it holds a special place in the hearts of Evil Horde fans. It didn’t resemble the techno-future location depicted in the Filmation cartoon at all, but it was still cool!

First illustrated on the 2020 Power Con exclusive She-Ra figure card back artwork, the Fright zone was featured on both the front and rear of the card back art. Shown below, you can see Hordak attacking Adora at the fright zone. It is also pictured on the front of the fold out artwork in stunning color showing Hordak’s minions Mantenna, Grizzlor and Catra atop Clawdeen her evil pink lion at the steps of the Fright Zone near the evil tree.

Power-Con She-ra exclusive Artwork

The Fright Zone shown for a second time on the Origins Hordak card back artwork. Again with a bevy of his minions by his side. This time a pair of Horde Trooper, Grizzlor, Leech, Mantenna and Modulock join him.

We see the Fright Zone for the third time featured center stage in all its 1980’s style glory on the 2021 Masters of the Universe Origins Power Con Exclusive Horde 4 Pack – lamp shade box, as I like to call it. This time depicted in stunning wrap around artwork by the great Axel Gimenez. In all 3 cases, your will notice that the Fright Zone is depicted as it was in 1985 Mattel playset release and not what the Filmation cartoon location looked like. Again, giving us a hint that perhaps Mattel in classic Origins style has its sights set for a Fright Zone Origins release?! Only time will tell…..

Dragstor Tease
This is our second tease of Dragtor as he first appeared in the massive battle scene on the Mattel Creations Eternia playset. According to the Wiki Grayskull, Dragstor was Etherian peasant who was captured by Hordak and transformed into an evil cyborg. Due to Hordak’s modifications, he became one of the fastest beings on Etheria, with a wheel embedded into his chest and an engine on his back. Dragstor later displayed a rebellious attitude, exposed in his rivalry with the newest Horde warrior, Mosquitor. When He-Man asked him “Who’s your new friend?”, Dragstor replied “Mosquitor… and he’s no friend of mine!”

Terror of the Technomancer
In the vintage mini comics, Extendar was a friend of Prince Adam and was an ordinary knight, but yearned for special powers of his own after witnessing the skills of the Horde warrior Dragstor. Hordak subsequently granted his wish and subjected him to scientific experiments, which transformed him into a mechanical cyborg warrior with the power of extension. Invincible at full height, he was set upon He-Man, but managed to throw off Hordak’s control and ultimately joined the Heroic Warriors, becoming one of the most powerful members of their ranks. This looks like it is a continuation of Extendar’s tale!

Extendar, being the kind hearted soul he is, responded to a cry for help on the outskirts of King Randor’s castle. He heeds the call and follows the cry deep into the forest. As Extendar tries to come to the maiden’s aid, the maiden and swamp creature disappear to reveal some Horde Troopers, who drag Extendar to the Fright Zone! captured and in front of Hordak, Extendar is reminded who transformed him in the first place, as told in the vintage mini comic, The Warrior Machine!

Hordak has Extendar on the examination table once again and vows to fulfill his promise to transfer total power to another worthier dark knight. It is here, while Extendar is on the table, Modulok, with syringe in hand, looks on!

Cracking Extendar’s chest open to reveal the Eternium Ore matrix (which looks a lot like Optimus Prime’s from the Transformers), the source of Extendar’s powers, is revealed. Suddenly, Extendar breaks free and grabs Hordak’s face while kicking Leech back! Extendar goes back through the portal and find He-Man where he tells him that he has regrets for succumbing to Hordak’s offer many years ago. Extrendar says, “Never again will I look to others with jealously for their success, but admiration instead,” and strives to be the best version of himself. Hordak let him go and did not pursue him as Hordak’s end game is to give Extendar’s power to a new dark warrior born of pure evil.

Modulok Teases
Modulok is pictured behind the Manitsaur as we have all Horde Hands on deck on the box for Eternia!

Previous Modulok Card and Box Art Teases
As we covered in our Masters of the Universe Origins Teased Figures From Card Art article, Modulok has already appeared on several card back artwork. A gaggle of evil Horde henchman appear on the Sorceress’ card art as well as Hordak’s, including Mantenna, Modulok, Leech, and Grizzlor, make up the bulk of this section. Since we have now seen Modulok on 2 card back artworks and the trademark has recently been renewed, we can probably make this one a given to come to the Origins line in the near future!

Modulok MOTU Origins Tease and Trademark Renewal
Modulok is another very gimmicky MOTU Character. To sweeten the possibility, we discovered that his trademark was renewed on 03/25/2021. Shortly after his figure was release in 1985, Modulok appears on the toy line’s accompanying cartoon series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Filmation. Consisting of 22 Body parts and a 2-part laser gun, Modulok was the first of its kind for the MOTU line! Coined ” Evil Beast of a thousand Bodies”, this Ultimate Transforming Creature was a member of the Evil Horde. Although the Evil Horde are used as the main villains Filmation’s spin-off series, She-Ra Princess of Power, rather than He-Man, Modulok is given the unique honor of making his debut on He-Man instead. Halfway through the first season of, She-Ra: Modulok is incorporated into the She-Ra series, the only character from either show to be transferred permanently from one to the other. This occurs in the episode “Gateway to Trouble” in which Modulok builds a device for Skeletor which can open a portal to Etheria to transport his whole army to the planet. This character is interesting because we recently got the reveal for a 4 legged Mantenna, and that new 4 legged sculpt has set the stage for perhaps how they can also pull off Modulok in the Origins style.
