Gentle Giant known for their amazing jumbo recreations of Kenner Star Wars vintage figures has done it again with this fantastic 12″ Jumbo recreation of the vintage Kenner Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Figure! This is a jumbo sized version of the quintessential version of the Kenner 1982 Indiana Jones Action Figure that will take you back in time! The charm and simplicity of this jumbo Indiana Jones figure is something that I really love about it! This Indiana Jones figure is totally a jumbo nostalgic buzz and will that will take you back to your childhood where we would spend hours recreating the adventures from the movies in our own backyards! And now you can display a jumbo 12″ version of him, complete with his whip, pouch and pistol. This fully articulated 12″ version features 7 points of articulation, and comes packaged on a retro-style resealable blister card with a vintage-style card back as well! This new figure is set to be released in September 2023.
A stunning jumbo recreation of the vintage original 1982 Indy action figure, he comes with his signature whip, and revolver. I really love his classic outfit with his brown leather jacket, white shirt and tan pants. He has 2 holsters, one for his revolver on his right hip, and a hook for his whip on his left hip. We have yet to see what the packaging looks like, but if past is prologue, Gentle Giant never disappoints, and I am sure we are going to get a beautiful card back recreation of the original Kenner Indiana Jones figures of the 1980’s. with the original logo, and hieroglyphic piping around the edges. Im am sure it will look like the recently released Retro Collection Indiana Jones- Raiders of the Lost Ark figure.
Indy includes holsters on each of his hips. On his right hip, he has a holster for his revolver, which you can fanagile in but it is loose. On his left hip is a hook for his whip. His waist features a thin molded belt that wraps around the back and is connected to the moldered holder and hook on each of his hips. They are all painted in dark brown. He is wearing tan pants and has on light brown shoes. You can see here his simple knee articulation. But at the time this was a huge improvement to the previous 5 POA Star Wars Kenner figures, because it allowed Indy and his friends to bend their knees when they sat in vehicles!
His head features that Harrison ford, Kenner style vintage sculpt with his classic brown Fedora. “Fortune and glory, kid. Fortune and glory.” Yes this classic brown Fedora hat is part of the head sculpt for Indy, but is a quintessential part of his character.
You can see Indy is wearing his essential dark brown, almost black leather jacket and dusty white button shirt underneath. That back has some simple sculpted details and includes the Hasbro product stamp. His arms are clad in his leather jacket. And at this scale, he has some very nice details on his leather jacket with the pockets, nice wrinkles and even his zipper. His shirt has sewn edges and buttons.
History of the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones Figure
Released in 1982 by legendary Kenner toys, the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones Figure capitalized on popularity of the 3 3/4″ Star Wars figures, and came out with The Adventures of Indiana Jones Toy line, that improved on the popular 5 POA Star Wars figures, and added knee articulation. These new figures had 7 points of articulation so you can sit Indy and his friends comfortably in all those cool Jeeps and vehicles that this new line was going to bring!

The Adventures of Indiana Jones was a 1982 toy line from Kenner based on Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Although it was presented on the packaging as The Adventures of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Kenner held the rights to the follow-up movie, the company opted out of releasing toys based on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom after reading the screenplay, feeling it was skewed towards an older audience than their target demographic. The rights were returned to Lucasfilm Ltd. and picked up by LJN instead.
In 2023, Hasbro released the Indiana Jones Retro Collection based on and inspired by the Kenner figures which expanded to encompass other movies in the Indiana Jones film series
