Who ya gonna call! We have the Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 in hand and boy are we thrilled! We recently shared the full packaging reveal for this amazing vehicle and now we get to see it out of the box in all its glory. The box art alone is so freakin’ cool, but seeing this one set up in person really takes you back to those classic Kenner days. I love the blue tinted windows and those pink fins in the rear, the colors on this one really pop and give it such a fun, unique look compared to the standard Ecto-1. Getting it displayed alongside the Ecto-Glow figures is just perfection, the whole lineup together looks incredible. So let’s take a look at the Ghostbusters Kenner Classics The Real Ghostbusters Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 in hand photos by yours truly, the Toy Sorceress!

The box art on the Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 is just gorgeous, with a wild color palette of yellow, pink, and blue splashed across the classic hearse design, and the animated-style Ghostbusters crew bringing the whole scene to life. I love how the ghost is tucked into the lower left corner with his mouth wide open, adding a fun chaotic energy to the overall illustration.

Here’s a closer look at the back of the box, which leans into that bright blue layout with multiple product photos showing off the Ecto-1 from different angles, including a fun glow-in-the-dark comparison shot. A small write-up on the left describes the Ecto-1 as a “vintage hearse that’s been fully customized,” complete with a charming cartoon illustration of the vehicle mid-chase.

The Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 looks fantastic out of the box, with those green racing stripes, the pink rear fins, and the blue-tinted windows all working together to give it a ton of personality. It comes packed with a small glow-in-the-dark ghost figure, which you can see perched on the roof chair, and the classic no-ghost logo on the front door is a nice touch alongside the “ECTO-1” lettering and those fun little slime and splatter deco hits on the rear panels.

You can see how the Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 fits right in on a shelf alongside other Ghostbusters collectibles, with a little translucent green ghost figure sitting on the roof adding a fun pop of color against that pale green body. The spoke-style wheels have a clean retro look to them, and those blue accents running along the lower body panels tie in nicely with the blue-tinted windows.

Here are some fun shots of the Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 all set up with the Ecto-Glow figures, and the crew really brings this vehicle to life. Ray and Winston flank the car with their glow-in-the-dark proton packs, while Egon mans the rooftop gunner seat, and a little glow-in-the-dark ghost clings to the hood like an uninvited passenger.

You can see how those ecto splatter stickers on the roof add a ghostly, supernatural feel to the blue-tinted glass, almost like ectoplasmic residue creeping across it. Watch out, there are some uninvited ghosts on the hood of the car!

Something I appreciate here is how the full Ecto-Glow crew looks together with the vehicle, as Ray Stanz joins the scene in his pink accented jumpsuit, standing right alongside the Ecto-1’s front door with the no-ghost logo framing him perfectly. The second glow-in-the-dark ghost sits on the ground in front of the car like a little captured trophy, while the gulper ghost still clings to its spot near the front fender.

Ray Stantz’s pink and cream jumpsuit have a great contrast up close, with the bold “RAY” lettering sitting cleanly across his chest and a warm, friendly expression on his face sculpt. The door swings open wide enough to show off the no-ghost tampo on its outer panel, while that little hunched ghost on the ground has a surprisingly aggressive face for such a tiny sculpt.

Peter Venkman fits nicely inside the Ecto-1’s cabin, and you can see how his dark brown hair sculpt has some nice definition with that swept-back wave catching a bit of shape. The “PETER” lettering across his chest sits right above a blue horizontal stripe, and there’s a small green triangle detail on the jumpsuit that I hadn’t caught in the earlier shots.

Egon Spengler looks right at home in the Ecto-1’s rooftop gunner seat, with those bright orange proton pack accessories clipped onto his shoulders framing his signature blonde hair and red glasses. His jumpsuit carries the same green and pink asymmetrical striping as the rest of the crew, and the black seat cradles him snugly against the blue and white body of the vehicle.

Winston Zeddemore’s blue and orange color scheme really pops next to Ray up close, with those bright orange belt and knee pad accents breaking up the blue sections of his jumpsuit in a way the other figures don’t quite match. I like how both proton packs have that same glow-in-the-dark yellowish-green plastic with the pink cords running from their ghost traps add a nice sense of connectivity between the gear.

The rear of the Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 features a large illustrated panel with a glow in the dark Slimmer ghost bursting through a yellow energy field against a bright blue sky, and it’s a really fun detail that you don’t always get on toy vehicles. Below that, the classic no-ghost logo sits centered on the white tailgate, flanked by those hot pink rear fins that sweep outward like bat wings.

A close-up reveals just how much personality the toothy hood ghost packs into such a small sculpt, with that massive gaping mouth full of ribbed, ridged teeth and a single blue eye squinting alongside a furrowed brow line. Its spindly little arms splay outward with clawed fingertips, and the pointed head tapers up into a sharp cone that gives it an almost Hershey’s Kiss silhouette.

The second glow-in-the-dark ghost has a completely different vibe up close, with those bulging round eyes, spiky crown of horns, and a huge rectangular mouth lined with flat, blocky teeth on both the top and bottom jaw. I’m really digging the squat, toad-like proportions of this one, with its thick ridged fingers splayed wide and that hunched posture making it feel like a little gargoyle perched on the Ecto-1’s roof rack.

Winston and Ray look great side by side, and you can really appreciate how their individual color blocking works as a set, with Winston’s blue and orange pairing playing off Ray’s pink and red accents on that same cream-colored glow-in-the-dark base plastic. The proton pack mounted on Winston’s back has a complex, boxy sculpt with multiple canisters and a hook extending upward, while a pink cord trails down from his ghost trap to connect everything together.

Egon Spengler’s Gulper ghost companion is the real scene-stealer here, with that enormous gaping maw completely engulfing his head like a living helmet, revealing just his tiny face peeking out between rows of jagged teeth with that red nose and blonde hair barely poking through. The ghost’s single blue eye and furrowed brow sit high on the conical head, while its stubby arms extend outward in a way that makes it look like it’s mid-swallow, perched right there in the Ecto-1’s gunner seat.

The tailgate drops down to reveal the Ecto-1’s rear cargo bay, with that bright blue interior floor and an orange grappling hook to capture ghosts. The grappling hook pulls out and then ratchets back in when the wheels are turned. It’s cool to see how the pink fins flare out on either side of the opening, framing the whole back end while a driver figure sits up front behind the blue-tinted windshield partition.

The rear bumper scoop and translucent ghost-catching net are fun features to see deployed from the Ecto-1’s rear end, with the orange grappling hook fanning out like a jaw ready to snap shut. The glow-in-the-dark ghost sitting just below has a squat, crab-like body with pincer appendages framing its scrunched-up face, making it the perfect little target for the net.

Here are some fun shots of the full Ghostbusters shelf in action on my personal collection shelf! The Ecto-Glow Ecto-1 sits with its crew nestled right in among my collection that spans carded Fright Features figures, a plush Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and the Ghostbusters Monsters looming behind Egon. I like how the four glow-in-the-dark proton streams tower above the crew like wispy antennae, adding height and chaos to a display that also includes a second Ecto-1 on the shelf below and a scatter of ghost companions crowding the foreground. I like the way this wider shelf shot really lets you take in the full Ecto-Glow lineup as a unit, with all four Ghostbusters standing shoulder to shoulder and their glow-in-the-dark ghost companions scattered at their feet like a menagerie of tiny monsters. The carded Fright Features figures behind them provide a nice splash of cartoon-colored card art, and that Ecto-1 tucked between the crew fills out the display without crowding it.

Here’s a closer look at the full Ecto-Glow crew lined up together! Each figure’s glow-in-the-dark ghost companion has its own wild sculpt, from that multi-eyed spider-like creature near Egon to the curly-tailed lizard thing beside Peter. The wispy, swirling proton streams rising up from each figure’s back are a fantastic touch, each one a tall, freeform glow-in-the-dark tendril that gives the whole shelf a wonderfully chaotic energy.

The whole Ecto-Glow crew assembled together here really shows off the sheer volume of glow-in-the-dark accessories Kenner packed into this lineup, with ghost companions ranging from that spindly spider creature to a small blue-eyed frog clustered across the foreground like a haunted petting zoo. I noticed that the Stay Puft vinyl figure and a carded Fright Features piece peek out from behind the Ecto-1, while an unsettling skeleton figure with swirling red-and-yellow hypnotic eyes lurks to the far right, making this feel like one seriously packed Ghostbusters display.
