Skel-Knight MOTU Origins Movie Deluxe Figure In-Hand Images

Fresh in from Mr. Home Arcade, we’ve got a solid set of in-hand images for the Skel-Knight Deluxe figure from the MOTU Origins movie line, and this one is worth a closer look. From what these images show, Mattel leaned into a design that blends classic Skeletor DNA with a more armored, film-inspired aesthetic to create an entirely new army builder. The sculpt carries a lot of personality, particularly in the head and chest armor, where you can see the movie’s darker, more textured approach. The Deluxe treatment means we’re getting a healthy spread of accessories and swap-out parts, which is always what separates a good Origins release from a great one. The proportions look solid in hand, and the paint applications appear clean from what I can see across these shots. For collectors who’ve been following the movie figure reveals, seeing how these translate to an Origins figure is always the real test and so far we like what we see as Skel-Knight seems to hold up well on that front. The front of the box gives you a full view of Skel Knight filling out the window display nicely, while the back showcases outstanding illustrated card art by the talented fetch.franciscoetchart, depicting the character mid-battle against a volcanic, lightning-streaked Eternian landscape with Snake Mountain in the background. You can see how the artwork leans into a dark fantasy tone with flowing robes and a menacing stance that sets the mood for the figure inside.

The side panels of the box carry two distinct pieces of artwork, one a tight close-up of the skull helm wrapped in tendon-like armor detailing, and the other a full-body action pose wielding both a sword and hooked staff. The dark, smoky palette and painted texture give the whole package a grim fantasy aesthetic that wraps around the box beautifully.

It’s a helpful visual guide that shows just how modular the build really is, giving you a clear picture of how much customization is baked into the design.

The front view shows the full contour of the layered shoulder pauldrons curving up toward the helmet, with ribbed grooves running across the torso and waist armor creating a skeletal, segmented structure from neck to waist. Flipping to the back, Mr. Home Arcade captures the scalloped plating along the spine and the way the tattered robes split into uneven strips below the knee, adding a worn, battle-damaged texture to the lower half.

From this side perspective, the layered construction of the pauldrons becomes really clear, with each curved plate stacking outward from the shoulder and the trim lines wrapping around to connect with the chest armor’s ribbed framework. The skirt drapes in deeply sculpted pleats that fan out naturally from the belt, and you can trace the chevron-patterned grooves running down each upper arm where they disappear under the gauntlet edge.

The alternate armor swaps in a completely different silhouette, replacing the ribbed skeletal framework with a smoother, broader chest plate that carries a cross-shaped relief on the back and cleaner shoulder caps with less aggressive contouring. Mr. Home Arcade shows you just how far a little creativity can go when army building, taking Ninjor’s body with the red paint stripped from the arms and swapping in Tri-Klops’ black boots to build out a Skel Knight grunt on the left. It’s a smart proof of concept for collectors looking to fill out their legion using parts already available in the Origins line, and paired next to the Movie Deluxe version on the right, the kitbash holds up surprisingly well.

You can see how the sculpted stock, barrel, and trigger guard give it a more tactical feel compared to the medieval weapons in the rest of his arsenal. The contrast between that chunky firearm and all that tattered, armored fantasy gear is a fun clash that adds some unexpected versatility to the character.

The tighter framing here really lets you appreciate the sculpted line work running down the gauntlets and chest plate, with those cream-edged grooves creating a layered, segmented feel across the entire upper body. The bayonet rifle tucks in close against the torso, and from this distance you can pick out the carved panel lines and grip texturing along its length.

Stripped down to the bare buck, you get a clear look at the full muscular sculpt underneath all that armor and fabric, with deeply carved ab lines, defined pecs, and ridged segmentation running through the thighs and calves. The bone-colored skull mask and grey hood sit on top of an otherwise head-to-toe dark body, and those cream-striped forearm guards are the only armor pieces left in place.

This is where buying multiples really pays off, as Mr. Home Arcade lines them up to show the darker gunmetal chest armor with its layered plate sculpt against the bone-trimmed black variant, making it easy to compare how different the same base design can look with a simple armor swap. The flowing robes and matching skull masks tie them together as a cohesive unit, but those contrasting chest pieces give each one its own identity on the shelf.

Lined up together, you can see how the center Skel Knight from the Origins Movie line differs from the two core versions flanking him, with a bone-toned skull mask, cream trim on the chest armor, and tattered, mud-spattered robes setting him apart. The core variants share the same ribcage-sculpted breastplate and flowing skirt but split between a darker gunmetal scheme on the left and a muted lavender-grey finish on the right, giving you three distinct looks from what is essentially one shared body design.

Laid side by side, the size and detail difference between the two is immediately clear, with the left sword carrying far more depth in its sculpt work.

The Skel Knight goon squad closes in on He-Man from both sides, one leveling the halberd while the other swings the hooked staff, and the sheer visual contrast between their dark, ribcage-carved armor and his bright, bare-armed look sells the scene. Mr. Home Arcade staged this one perfectly, using the pair to frame He-Man and show just how well these figures work as an intimidating army-builder unit.
