Man-At-Arms v2 MOTU Chronicles Wave 4 In Hand Review

“I have the power!” We recently brought you a look at the Man-At-Arms v2 MOTU Chronicles in-box images, and now the wait is finally over because we got our hands on this figure for an early in hand review! I always loved Man-At-Arms as a kid, and Duncan has been one of those characters I just can’t get enough of in any toy line he shows up in, so getting to crack this one open and really examine what the Version 2! If you are wondering what the difference is between V1 Man at Arms and V2, V1 is how Man At Arms appears thru most of the movie is his battle worn armor. V2 Man At Arms is the way he looked at the end of the movie when all the Heroes of Eternia were celebrating the defeat of Skeletor and the rebuilding of the city of Eternos! V2 is my favorite look for Duncan and I’m so excited to have this one in hand! The more classic styling with that green armor, the gold chest harness, and those rounded gold shoulder pieces give him a look that feels like a love letter to the vintage aesthetic, and the metallic paint applications across the armor are really cool to see up close. The Masters of the Universe Chronicles Man-At-Arms Version 2, and the figure lines up with the MAA V2 included in an upcoming Entertainment Earth case assortment. So let’s take a look at the Man-At-Arms v2 MOTU Chronicles in hand review!

Packaging

The box art on the right side features a gorgeous illustration of Man-At-Arms in dark, weathered armor under fiery orange lighting, with a rocky, lava-filled landscape behind him. His gold mace is displayed alongside the figure in the packaging, and you can see a small blaster tucked in below as well.

Here’s a closer look at the side panel of the box, which features a striking illustration of Skeletor draped in a purple hood, his skull face rendered with glowing red eyes and deep bone-colored detail. Man At Arms peeks in from the left edge with his sword cutting across the composition, and the cosmic background of swirling purple energy and a planetary eclipse ties the whole scene together beautifully.

Here’s a closer look at the opposite side panel, which shows the character portrait of Man-At-Arms in his heavy, copper-toned armor with a spiral emblem on the shoulder, framed against that same fiery orange backdrop. You can see his gold mace through the upper window and a peek at the figure’s boots through the lower cutout, giving you a nice sense of what’s packed inside before you even open it.

Here’s a look at Man-At-Arms fresh out of the box with the plastic tray still holding everything in place. You can see the swap-out hands and what appears to be a small fabric cape or cloak piece tucked in alongside his gold mace and blaster.

Figure Details

Man-At-Arms comes loaded with accessories here, including his gold mace tucked at hip level and a compact blaster with a black barrel and dark red grip. The brown wrist cuff on his left forearm has a layered, segmented sculpt that adds a rugged contrast to the smoother metallic armor plating elsewhere.

You can see how the gold mace has a really satisfying chunky sculpt to its head, with concentric ring details and a textured cap that give it a weighty, medieval feel. The rounded gold shoulder pads on both arms are a nice departure from the more angular plating on the rest of the armor, softening the overall silhouette.

I’m really digging the brown boots here, which have a split-toe design and a worn leather texture that grounds the figure nicely against all that gold and green above. The thigh armor plates feature sculpted line work that mirrors the angular detailing on the chest harness, keeping the whole suit feeling cohesive from top to bottom.

Outfitted with the brighter green bodysuitunderneath layers of copper-gold armor plating he wears at the end of the movie, Man-At-Arms has a classic, militaristic look that feels distinctly Eternian. I like how the silver accents on the chest plate, belt buckle, and wrist gauntlets break up the warm metallic tones, and the concentric circle detail on his left shoulder pad is a nice touch you might miss at first glance.

A close-up reveals the excellent face sculpt on Man-At-Arms, with a subtle mustache and a focused, serious expression that carries a lot of personality at this scale. His silver helmet sits snugly over green ear cups, with copper-orange accents running through the sculpted vents and side panels that tie it nicely to the armor below. You will notice he is now wearing a silver colored helmet rather than the blue helmet the V1 version comes with.

Something I appreciate here is the sculpted forearm guard, which has recessed rectangular panel lines etched into the copper-gold surface, creating a layered, segmented look that feels like functional armor plating. The silver utility pouches on the belt each have their own individual sculpted buckle and latch detail, and the way they sit against the green bodysuit’s ribbed midsection texture creates a nice visual break between the upper and lower armor sections.

The sculpt on the left arm shows the concentric spiral rivet on the shoulder pad, which has a satisfying mechanical quality to it, like a functional bolt holding the rounded armor piece in place. I noticed that the forearm gauntlet has silver-accented vent slats and a banded silver strip at the wrist joint, details that give the lower arm its own distinct armor profile separate from the shoulder and bicep plating above it.

Here’s a closer look at the torso area, where you can really appreciate the sculpted grid pattern on the green midsection beneath the gold chest harness. The utility belt is loaded with small sculpted pouches and compartments in a weathered silver tone that pairs well with the copper kneecap armor peeking in at the bottom of the frame.

Here’s a closer look at the lower half of Man-At-Arms, where the copper-gold thigh guards sit over dark brown under-armor with sculpted geometric panel lines that give them a real armored plating feel. The green bodysuit material peeks through at the knees and upper thighs, and you can catch a glimpse of his gold mace handle tucked right at hip level.

Here’s a look at the back of Man-At-Arms, where the gold chest harness wraps around into a full backplate with sculpted rectangular panel details and a central silver spine running vertically between the shoulder blades. The brown holsters strapped to each thigh have small gold weapon handles poking out, and the silver belt buckle hardware continues cleanly around to the rear with its own set of sculpted clasps.

Here’s a closer look at the back of Man-At-Arms’ helmet, where you can see copper-orange claw mark scratches etched into the silver surface, a detail that’s easy to miss from the front. The backplate’s rectangular vents are evenly spaced across both sides with a silver spine column connecting to the collar area, and the whole assembly sits tight against the green bodysuit without any visible gapping.

From the rear, the brown thigh guards show sculpted notch details along their edges where they meet the green bodysuit, and the copper-orange banding on the shin guards wraps around cleanly to the back. The silver belt has a slightly different profile from this angle, with wider clasps and a flatter buckle plate compared to the front.

V1 vs V2 Comparison

Here are some fun shots comparing Man-At-Arms V2 shown on the right side by side with the original V1 release on the left, and the color shift between versions is immediately apparent. The V1 on the left l, leans into muted, desaturated copper tones with sandy tan leg plating, while V2 shown on the right pushes everything toward a richer, more saturated gold-orange with brighter silver chest panel accents and a distinctly cooler silver helmet replacing the blue one.

Comparing the two versions from the back, you can see how V2’s backplate has a noticeably warmer, more saturated gold finish shown on the right, compared to V1’s muted copper, with the panel line sculpting appearing sharper and more defined on the newer release shown on the left. The silver helmet on V2 also has a more angular crest compared to V1’s softer blue helmet shape, and the shoulder armor on V2 sits slightly higher on the frame.
