Masters of the Universe MOTU Transformers Crossover in Development
Hasbro and Mattel make strange bedfellows but when they come together, some great ideas come from their collaboration. The Transformers line has been creating some amazing mashups with other properties for a long time but I think fans have always wanted a MOTU x Transformers crossover but never expected it to happen. According to multiple sources across the web, there are reports of a Masters of the Universe x Transformers collaboration crossover in the works. One of those sources, yo_tengo_el_poder, among many, is reporting that “Hasbro’s list of future releases for the different Transformers collections, including the Collaborative, where there is a slot reserved for a collaborative with Masters of the Universe.”

MOTU x Transformers Concepts
We love to think about the possibilities for mashups like this so we are drawing inspiration from Gnaw The Sharkticon, who posted some amazing Masters of the Universe x Transformers concept illustrations by artist Bobby Ginnings!
Autobot x Heroic Warriors
Gnaw The Sharkticon has four concepts of an Autobot Heroic Warrior mashup with He-Man x Optimus Prime, Bumblebee x Battle Cat, Braun x Ram Man, and Ironhide x Man-At-Arms
He-Man x Optimus Prime
A mashup of the two leaders of the free toy world make total sense as this concept combines both the human elements of He-Man, the leader of the Heroic Warriors, and the robotic parts of Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. The color scheme is perfect and it’s cool to see He-Man’s cross emblem smack dab in the middle of Optimus Prime’s cab, which doubles as the chest armor.

Bumblebee x Battle Cat
Not that He-Man x Optium Prime can climb into this Bumblebee x Battle Cat mashup, we see what He-Man’s trusty steed and one of Optimus Prime’s right hand men could look like. This is interesting because Bumblebee is a scout/spy for Optimus Prime’s Autobot squad and one of the smallest and weakest. What he lacks in physical strength, however, he makes up for with his speed and reconnaissance skills. When you think about it, it actually makes sense as Cringer, who is weak and timid, can turn into the mighty Battle Cat.

Braun x Ram Man
Brawn is the Autobots’ demolitions expert, amazingly strong for his size and a bit aggressive at times. Due to his small stature, he often attempts to overcompensate by playing up his macho personality. Ram Man is a member of the Heroic Warriors, characterized by his bulky, spring-legged appearance and flat-topped metal helmet. Originally tagged by Mattel as the ‘human battering ram’, his special ability is to knock opponents or obstacles down with his super-hard helmet. This mashup makes perfect sense and you can see Braun’s helmet shape in place of Rammy’s traditional head armor.

Ironhide x Man-At-Arms
It’s cool to see what an Ironhide x Man-At-Arms mashup would look like! Ironhide is one of the oldest and toughest Autobots. Combining him with Man-At-Arms makes sense as the role of a Man-at-Arms was an inventor and advised the ruling planetary monarch and the Royal Guard on military and police affairs on Eternia.

Decepticon x Evil Warriors
Gnaw The Sharkticon has four concepts of an Autobot Heroic Warrior mashup with Megatron x Skeletor, Bumblebee x Battle Cat, Braun x Ram Man, and Ironhide x Man-At-Arms
Megatron x Skeletor
This mashup of two of the most sinister baddies is freakin amazing! Combining the subtle aspects of Skeletor, like his boney face, havoc staff, and waist armor with Megatron’s robot form with his huge cannon mounted on his right arm is perfect! The Decepticon x Evil Warriors sigil looks awesome!

Starscream x Stinkor
Although Stinkor is an interesting choice to mashup with Starscream, it could have been the alliteration that made this crossover come together. Combining Stinkor’s markings and Starscream’s robot mode, he does give the seeker a very interesting look!

Trap Jaw x Soundwave & Ravage x Panthor
A Trap Jaw x Soundwave & Ravage x Panthor mashup makes perfect sense and is one of my favorite crossover concepts of the bunch! Soundwave is one of Megatron’s most reliable troops, and he has positioned himself comfortably and irreplaceably in Megatron’s upper command structure. He stands at the Decepticon leader’s side as a confidant. Though “only” Communications Officer, he is comparable to Starscream and Shockwave in rank and is the only one of the three to display consistent loyalty to Megatron. While Trap Jaw is more of a thug, Trap Jaw was Skeletor’s wizard of weapons. Despite his relatively low intelligence; he created and maintained all of his various arm attachments and manufactured instruments of destruction for Skeletor. Ravage was one of Soundwave’s cassettes and a scout and it’s cool to see Panthor, Skeletor’s steed mashed up with him!

Shockwave x Tri-Klops
An interesting choiece to mashup Shockwave and Tri-Klops, it works! In the Transformers lore, Shockwave has been referred to as “a computer on legs.” While logic rules Shockwave’s thought processes, he sees emotion as a weakness and a distraction. Tri-Klops, on the otherhand, is a strong warrior and has three eyes that are three different shapes (circular, triangular and square) and possessed the powers of Nightvision (the ability to see in the dark), Gammavision (the ability to see through solid objects), and Distavision (the ability to see far distances). They also enabled him to see in every direction at the same time. This mashup combines the intellectual prowess of Shockwave with Tri-Klops vision and strength, making this a deadly combination!

We want to hear from you!
What would you rather see? A MOTU vehicle or a Transformers vehicle?
