Mosquitor Coming To New Eternia Etheria Masterverse Line

As the Fall 2025 Masters of the Universe catalog drop has come and gone, we are turning our attention to figures we could see at San Diego Comic Con 2025. The Masterverse line has been on fire lately and we’ve found hard evidence that Mosquitor will be joining the New Eternia (or New Etheria) Masterverse line! With the branding of the 40th Anniversary Masterverse She-Ra figure as New Etheria, it remains to be seen whether Evil Energy Draining Insectoid will be branded New Eternia or New Etheria as all we have to off of is a name right now. The New Eternia Masterverse line has been on fire lately and we can’t wait to see how this figure will turn out. For now, since we don’t have any official images, we will take a trip down memory lane and revisit the MOTU Classics design and also highlight a concept from darkspectredesignworks!

Mosquitor MOTU Classics

Mosquitor is a striking addition to the Masters of the Universe Classics line, featuring a detailed sculpt that captures the perfect balance of mechanical and organic elements—a signature look of the Evil Horde. The head sculpt is especially strong, with an eerie, insectoid vibe that reinforces the character’s menacing presence. One of the standout features is the chest harness, which visually recreates the vintage figure’s blood-pumping effect using a translucent red plastic. While the action feature is no longer functional, the “filled” blood chamber gives the impression that Mosquitor has just fed, adding a gruesome touch to the design. The figure also includes small insect-like legs attached to the chest harness, similar to those seen on Buzz-Off and Webstor. While they offer some added visual texture, they feel somewhat unnecessary given Mosquitor’s already unique design, and can be posed folded down for a cleaner look. The sculpt also introduces new parts like softer plastic shorts, forearms, and hands, which allow for more flexible posing, though the joints—particularly at the elbows and wrists—should be handled with care. Altogether, Mosquitor stands out as a visually impressive figure with a few debatable design choices. If you want to still pick up the MOTU Classics version, you can find him HERE.

Mosquitor New Eternia Masterverse Concept

Dark Spectre Design Works created a very cool concept of a Masterverse Mosquitor and he posted a video on his YouTube channel about how he created this figure. In the video, he walks us through the custom creation of a Masterverse-style Mosquitor figure, merging elements of the classic toy with a more modern, articulated aesthetic. The core goal was to preserve the iconic blood-pumping action feature from the original figure while upgrading the sculpt and proportions to match the sleeker Masterverse line. To achieve this, he used the upper torso from the original MOTU Origins Mosquitor and combined it with a donor Masterverse Skeletor figure, carefully modifying limbs, adding a new head, and repainting the figure to give it a cohesive, high-end look. I love the addition of the wings since Mosquitor is a flying insect, it never made sense that he had spider legs attached to his back like Buzz-Off and Webstor.

Despite facing some filming limitations, especially during complex torso and limb integration, Dark Spectre Design Works shares valuable insights into the process—from part swapping and sculpting with materials like epoxy, to preserving articulation and action functionality. The result is a faithful yet refreshed version of Mosquitor that retains its nostalgic charm while fitting seamlessly into a modern collector’s display. The project showcases not only technical skill but also a deep respect for the character and community, blending creativity and craftsmanship with fan appreciation.
