MOTU Chronicles and Core Figure Mattel Creators Breakfast Booth Tour
I have to tell you, as someone who has been covering this hobby for years and grew up on 80s toys, getting invited to the Mattel Creators Breakfast at Toy Fair 2026 was one of those full circle moments that just hits differently. Walking into the River Pavilion at the Javits Center in New York and seeing Mattel take over the entire space was honestly breathtaking, and I could feel that kid in me lighting up all over again. The booth was massive, polished, and buzzing with energy, and what made it even more special was the hands on, personalized experience with the Mattel team. We were able to slow down, ask questions, take in the details, and really appreciate the craftsmanship across their brands, but if you know me, you know exactly where my focus was locked in. Masters of the Universe. While we had already shared images of the Masters of the Universe Chronicles and Core figures from other creators leading up to the show, nothing compares to standing in front of these figures in person, seeing the scale, the sculpted details, the paint applications, and how they command space in a display. Photos are great, and we are grateful for early looks, but being there, seeing the line with our own eyes, that is a completely different experience. This was one of those moments where you realize just how big a year 2026 is shaping up to be for MOTU, and I could not have been more excited to be there soaking it all in.

As you walk up to the Creator Breakfast entrance at the Javitz Center, the scale immediately commands your attention. Two towering red structures frame a broad staircase with escalators running up both sides, each column marked with a large circular Mattel emblem mounted high above. The doorway at the top glows with red lighting, pulling you straight into the space, while the soaring ceiling, exposed steel framework, and glass walls of the pavilion surround this massive façade that completely dominates the hall.

As you step into the Masters of the Universe section, you’re greeted by a full Castle Grayskull environment built at towering scale, with stone turrets rising on either side and red vines climbing across the weathered walls. The massive skull entrance dominates the center, its deep eye sockets and oversized fangs framing a dark doorway that guests walk through, while a large He Man statue stands to the left wearing his chest harness, bracers, and fur loincloth, gripping his sword at his side against a backdrop of glowing orange foliage. To the right, premium format figures are arranged in clear display cases with their detailed packaging standing upright behind them, as attendees pause to snap photos beneath the sweeping Masters of the Universe backdrop that stretches across the entire wall.

As you move along the Castle Grayskull display, one of the stone statues comes into view standing tall on a square pedestal, carved with a crowned, skeletal faced figure gripping a long sword with both hands, the blade pointed straight down to the base. The sculpted robe drapes cleanly to the platform beneath him, and the weathered stone texture gives the entire piece a chiseled, ancient look, set against a turret wall wrapped in red vines and framed by dense orange foliage lit from below with warm accent lighting.

As you continue through the display, two massive character statues anchor the space, and standing between them really shows off their scale. On one side, Skeletor is sculpted with a hooded cape flowing behind him, gripping his ram headed staff while his armor, layered skirt plates, and textured boots are carved with sharp detail on a rocky base. On the other side, He Man stands upright on his own stone platform wearing his chest harness with the red cross emblem, bracers, fur loincloth, and tall boots, his sword resting at his side as he faces forward. Both statues are mounted on themed bases with the Masters of the Universe branding along the front edge, and we were told these large scale pieces will eventually be available for purchase at a premium price point.

MOTU Chronicles and Core Figures
As you step over to the Chronicles and Core display, a tiered black riser showcases a mix of fully posed figures and packaged samples arranged at different heights so you can take in the full lineup at once. Front and center on the upper platform, characters are spread out in dynamic stances, including a green Battle Cat crouched low with a pink saddle, flanked by armored heroes and villains holding swords, staffs, and blasters, while boxed figures stand upright behind them with character art visible through the windows. On the lower level, additional figures are spaced individually on clear acrylic stands, including Skeletor in a darker armored look displayed carded, with more characters posed in ready stances around him, all set beneath a large screen playing footage above and framed by the towering He Man statue and red foliage to the side.

Core Skeletor is posed in a wide stance on a clear round display base, gripping his ram headed staff horizontally across his body with both hands. He wears a deep purple hooded cape that drapes down his back, layered skirt armor at the waist, and tall boots with sculpted folds and straps, while his blue skin contrasts sharply with the bright yellow skull face peeking out from beneath the hood. The staff features a curved horned skull at the top with painted details in the eyes.

From the rear, Core Skeletor’s deep purple hood and cape take center stage, with textured folds sculpted into the fabric as it drapes down to just above the clear round base. The cape splits slightly at the bottom to allow for leg movement, revealing the blue arms gripping the staff and the layered purple armor pieces at the waist from behind. His tall boots show sculpted straps and wrinkles along the calves, and the metallic staff extends upward past his shoulder, with the ram skull detail just visible at the top as he leans back in a braced stance.

Core He Man is posed on a clear oval display base with his sword raised in his right hand, angled upward as if mid strike, while his left arm is bent forward in a ready stance. He wears the classic chest harness with the red cross emblem centered on the silver plate, matching bracers on both forearms, a brown belt with circular buckle, and a sculpted brown loincloth with layered panels hanging at the front. The tall brown boots feature defined straps and folds, and his blonde hair is sculpted in thick waves that frame his face.

Core Teela stands on a clear oval display base with her right arm extended forward, gripping a blaster aimed straight ahead, while her left hand holds a sword angled behind her. She wears a fitted yellow armored top with sculpted panel lines and texture, light gray pants with a black thigh holster strapped to her right leg, and tall red boots with layered folds at the ankles. Her long red hair falls over her shoulders in defined strands, and the figure is posed in a balanced stance that highlights the articulation through the hips, knees, and shoulders.

Core Beast Man is posed mid stride on a clear round display base, with one leg lunging forward and his torso angled aggressively as he swings a long black whip overhead. His bright orange fur is sculpted with thick texture across the arms and legs, contrasting with the large red mane that frames his head and shoulders, complete with small horns protruding through the hair. He wears black spiked wristbands, a black belt with a red loincloth, and clawed feet planted firmly on the base, while his snarling face features sharp fangs and a wide open mouth sculpt that adds to the feral look.

Skel Knight stands elevated on a clear display riser, posed with his sword raised high in his right hand while his left arm bends forward in a guarded position. He wears sculpted bone styled chest armor with rib like detailing, matching shoulder plates, and a hooded skull helmet that partially obscures the face beneath. The black tattered skirt hangs in layered strips down to the ankles, contrasting against the lighter armor pieces, and the long sword features a broad blade with defined edges as the figure leans slightly forward in a battle stance.

From the rear, Skel Knight’s hooded helmet flows into layered armor plating across the upper back, with sculpted ridges running down into the bone styled chest piece. The black skirt hangs in torn, textured strips that taper unevenly toward the calves, revealing the figure’s lower legs and boots planted on the clear riser. His right arm is raised with the sword angled upward, showing the gauntlet detailing from behind, while the layered belt wraps around the waist and anchors the darker fabric elements in place.

Skel-Knight is displayed sealed in a clear blister attached to a cardback featuring a fiery orange and purple cosmic backdrop. The figure is positioned upright inside the plastic bubble with his sword accessory placed alongside him, while the bone styled chest armor, hooded helmet, and black skirt are clearly visible through the front window. The Masters of the Universe logo is printed across the top of the card, and the name Skel-Knight appears along the bottom panel with character artwork printed to the side of the blister.

The back of the Skel-Knight card features a vivid purple and orange landscape with jagged rock formations and a lava filled cavern in the background. Character renders of Skeletor, Mekaneck, and Skel-Knight are displayed across the scene, with Skel-Knight shown holding his sword in a ready stance. A bio panel on the right identifies him as an evil warrior of Skeletor and includes a stat chart listing strength, combat, intelligence, tech, and evil.

The back of the Skel Knight card gives a first look at Mekaneck, shown standing on a rocky ledge against a purple and orange Eternian landscape. He is labeled Mekaneck with the subtitle Heroic Human Periscope, and the character art shows him in a blue bodysuit with a bold red chest harness design, red helmet, and green visor, holding a blaster in his right hand. Black boots and gloves complete the look, and the sculpted armor details are clearly defined in the illustration.

MOTU Chronicles
MOTU Chronicles Evil Lyn is posed in a wide stance on a clear display base, holding a staff topped with a translucent purple orb in her right hand while her left arm is raised forward as if casting a spell. She wears a dark metallic armored bodice with sculpted ribbed detailing, matching shoulder accents, and a horned headpiece with sharp protrusions framing her face. A deep blue fabric cape flows down her back, contrasting against the glossy black leggings and tall black boots, with the facial sculpt capturing a focused expression and clean paint applications around the eyes and lips.

From the side, MOTU Chronicles Evil Lyn’s profile highlights the sharp sculpt of her horned headpiece and the layered detailing along the armored bodice and shoulder trim. The deep blue fabric cape drapes down her back in two panels, showing a textured weave that contrasts with the smooth sheen of the black leggings and tall boots. Her right arm is bent to support the staff topped with the translucent purple orb, while the left hand is held open in front of her, with visible articulation at the elbow, wrist, and knee as she holds a balanced, mid step stance on the clear display base.

Skeletor is posed on a clear oval base with his ram headed staff held upright in his right hand while his left arm is raised, fingers spread as if mid spell. He wears a textured purple hood and cape that drape down his back, layered purple waist armor with sculpted paneling, and matching bracers and boots over his blue body. The skull face features a hinged jaw that opens and closes, revealing sculpted teeth inside the mouth, and the ram skull atop the staff shows curled horns and painted eye details that add contrast against the darker handle.

From the rear, Skeletor’s hooded cape dominates the view, sculpted with heavy vertical texture that runs the full length toward the lower legs. A raised seam detail travels down the center of the cape, adding layered dimension to the fabric look, while the hood wraps tightly around the head and neck. The shoulder armor flares slightly over the upper arms, the bracers and boots feature defined ridges and panel lines, and the ram headed staff curves upward at his side with the horned skull clearly visible from behind.

Skeletor’s extra accessories include an alternate blue hand sculpted in a gripping pose and a secondary weapon with a skull shaped head at the top. The weapon features a dark handle with metallic paint applications and a red circular detail set into the top of the skull, surrounded by small raised spikes. The alternate hand shows defined knuckles and finger sculpting, matching the blue skin tone of the figure for seamless swapping.

Trap Jaw is posed in a wide stance with his left arm raised and clawed hand extended forward while his mechanical right arm ends in a curved hook attachment. He wears a metallic shoulder harness with rivet detailing, a brown strap crossing his blue torso, and a black skirt piece at the waist over armored legs with green thigh panels and sculpted mechanical elements at the knees. His pink helmet frames a green face with a hinged jaw that opens and closes to reveal sculpted teeth inside, and the silver boots feature angular plating that completes the armored look.

From this side angle, Trap Jaw’s hinged mouth is clearly visible, with the lower jaw sculpted as a separate piece that opens downward to reveal the inner teeth and mechanical detailing along the hinge line. The pink helmet wraps tightly around the head with panel lines and rivet details, contrasting against the green face and blue torso. The metallic shoulder armor shows layered plates and raised spikes, while the mechanical arm features segmented sculpting that leads down to the curved hook attachment, and the black skirt and armored legs display textured surfaces and teal thigh accents.

Trap Jaw’s extra accessories include an alternate blue gripping hand with a gold wrist cuff, a detachable arm cannon with black and metallic paint applications and sculpted panel lines, and a large blade attachment with serrated detailing along the spine. The blade features mechanical sculpting at the base where it connects, including circular and angular elements that match the industrial look of his armored arm. Each piece carries weathered paint accents that highlight the edges and molded details.

Teela is posed mid stance with one hand extended forward and her sword resting across her shoulder, the blade stretching back behind her head. She wears a fitted green and gold textured top with sculpted paneling, gray pants with a brown belt and thigh holster, and red boots with layered strap detailing around the calves. Her reddish hair is pulled back, and the bracers on her forearms feature ridged sculpting that complements the armored knee pads and defined seam lines running through the legs.

From the rear, Teela’s textured vest shows sculpted paneling down the back with subtle seam lines that taper toward the waist. Her reddish hair is tied into a compact bun with a headband wrapping over the crown, and the brown belt connects to a thigh holster secured by layered straps around the leg. The pants feature a mix of smooth and scaled textures with reinforced knee sections, and the red boots display stacked strap detailing that wraps firmly around the calves.

Battle Cat is shown in a low, prowling stance with a heavily textured green body marked by bold yellow tiger stripes along the legs, torso, and tail. The red armor set includes a sculpted saddle with ornate surface detailing and layered plates that wrap over the shoulders, while the matching red helmet features sharp, angular lines with pointed accents framing the feline face. Black claws and defined musculature in the limbs add to the powerful silhouette, with the harness straps sculpted to contour tightly across the torso.

He-Man is posed riding atop Battle Cat, gripping a silver Power Sword raised behind his shoulder. He features shoulder-length blond hair, a brown harness with a red cross emblem at the chest, silver wrist bracers, and a gray skirt with sculpted panel details and small geometric accents. His brown boots and belt are sculpted with layered textures, and his arms are bent to create a dynamic seated battle pose over the red armored saddle.

From this angle you can see how the shoulder, elbow, and wrist articulation work together to let He-Man reach back and draw the Power Sword from the sheath on his back. The range of motion in the upper torso and arms allows him to twist and pull the blade free in a natural motion, creating a convincing unsheathing pose while seated on Battle Cat.

The close up on Battle Cat’s unarmored head highlights the detailed sculpting around the eyes and muzzle, with yellow striping layered over the green fur texture and small fangs peeking from the mouth. The paint apps around the nose and eyes are clean, and the surface texture across the cheeks and forehead really stands out at this distance.

Tri-Klops is outfitted in layered green and bronze armor with a detailed chest harness and segmented shoulder plates framing his upper body. His signature visor wraps across the helmeted head, and he grips a long-barreled rifle with both hands, showing off the articulation in the elbows and wrists. The lower half features textured green pants with armored knee pads and strapped boots, giving him a tactical, tech-driven presence that fits the Chronicles aesthetic.

From this closer angle, Tri-Klops’ visor dominates the look, with the red lens set into a bulky, gold-toned headpiece that wraps fully around the helmet. The layered shoulder armor shows sculpted panel lines and a worn metallic finish, while the ribbed tubing across the upper chest connects into a vertically textured chest plate. His gloved hands grip the rifle at the trigger and foregrip, highlighting the detailed gauntlets and the mix of matte and metallic paint across the forearms.

From this angle, the scale of the premium format pieces really comes into focus. Skeletor towers with a heavily textured hooded cape flowing down his back, gripping a massive ram’s skull staff with deeply carved horns and a long, weathered shaft, while the sculpted striations across his blue torso and layered armor details stand out under the booth lighting. Beside him, He-Man stands poised with the Power Sword angled downward, his chest harness and emblem sharply defined, skirt panels individually sculpted, and bracers and boots showing layered armor plating, giving both statues a cinematic presence and a clear sense of height and mass.

I got a chance to meet Adam Krell, and amazing person who is head of Global Brand Communications for Vehicles, Action Figures and Building Sets for Mattel!

I also got to make myself into a digital action figure at the selfie booth!

We also got amazing gift bags and it was a truly one of a kind experience.
