MOTU Chronicles Mekaneck 2027 Wave 1 In-Hand Images Show Off His Bendable Neck
Of all the characters in Masters of the Universe, Mekaneck has always been my favorite. He was my favorite MOTU figure growing up, and I’ve never lost my appreciation for Eternia’s heroic human periscope. I loved seeing him in the 2026 Masters of the Universe movie, and I’ve been particularly excited about his return in Mattel’s new Chronicles line. After all these years, we’re finally getting a Mekaneck with a bendable neck, and I couldn’t be happier about that!
A huge thanks to Instagram collector @nostalgicheart78 for sharing these fantastic in-hand photographs and video. We’ve previously covered the MOTU Chronicles 2027 Wave 1 preorders and the in-package images featuring Mekaneck, Clawful, and Flight Armor He-Man. We also recently got a closer look at Flight Armor He-Man, complete with his unexpected hairstyle.
This Chronicles release follows Mekaneck’s appearance in the 2026 Masters of the Universe movie, with a more elaborate mechanical design and a long, bendable neck. The photographs offer a good look at both the armor and just how far that neck can curve. And yes, some of these shapes are absolutely ridiculous!
Packaging
The MOTU Chronicles packaging continues the black-and-gold presentation used throughout the line, with the Masters of the Universe Chronicles logo across the top. The side-panel illustration features a more aggressive interpretation of Mekaneck, like he appeared in the movie, with his mouth open beneath his familiar red helmet. I also love that the packaging identifies him as the “Heroic Human Periscope,” a nickname that still makes me smile after all these years.

Figure Details
The movie-inspired design gives Mekaneck an open, ribbed red chest plate over darker mechanical sculpting. His blue bodysuit has silver components along the arms and knees, while the brown boots and red helmet keep the color scheme I’ve always associated with him. The helmet’s angular lenses fit right in with the armored approach used throughout this version.

A closer look reveals the red framework running down the torso, with darker sculpting between the ribs. Silver detailing continues around the waist, shoulders, and forearms. The helmet has a central silver stripe, dark triangular lenses outlined in silver, and circular components over the ears. It’s a much more armored interpretation of Mekaneck, in keeping with his movie styling.

Now this is the Mekaneck I’ve been waiting for! His neck extends far above his shoulders, with sculpted mechanical segments running along its length. The bendable feature is a big part of what has me excited for this movie-inspired release. Even nearly straight, that extension is something else.

The extended neck has several sculpted patterns running along its length, including raised segments and narrow ridges that resemble mechanical components. The slight curve in this photograph offers an early indication of what the flexible construction can do. I can already imagine Mekaneck towering over the rest of my MOTU collection, looking over everyone’s shoulders whether they like it or not.

The sculpted mechanical details continuing all the way from the chest armor to the helmet. I’ve wanted a Mekaneck with this kind of flexibility for years, and seeing the feature demonstrated in these photographs is even better than I imagined.

Mekaneck’s neck can also bend into an exaggerated S-shaped curve. I’ve always appreciated how wonderfully bizarre this character’s signature ability is. A heroic warrior who can stretch his neck to absurd heights? That’s Masters of the Universe for you!

The neck curves in opposite directions before bringing Mekaneck’s head back above his body. I have a feeling I’m going to spend an unreasonable amount of time experimenting with this feature when I finally get him. Some things apparently never change.

The close-up reveals narrow vertical ridges, raised rectangular segments, and a repeating chevron pattern along the neck. The helmet’s silver-trimmed triangular lenses, central stripe, and circular components over the ears are especially clear here. There’s plenty to examine in this movie-inspired sculpt.

I’ve been looking forward to this Mekaneck ever since the Chronicles assortment was announced, and these photographs have only made the wait harder. Between my childhood attachment to the character, how much I enjoyed seeing him in the 2026 movie, and that wonderfully bendable neck, this is easily one of my most anticipated MOTU releases. Another huge thanks to @nostalgicheart78 for sharing these photographs and video!
