Playmates Loses TMNT License

In a sad turn of events, after it was announced today that Playmates will lose their Master TMNT license by Dec 31, 2026. This truly marks the end of an era, when Playmates seem to be hitting their stride with awesome vintage reissues and incredible new remastered figures! There was such a bright future ahead with all the latest exciting releases from Playmates. From the Classics reissues of the Technodrome, the Mutant Module, the Sewer Lair and the Foot Cruiser to the new Remastered Target Exclusive 6 Pack, the latest releases from Playmates for TMNT have been incredible! And then their brilliant and funny homage to toy collectors with their Knock Out Knock Off two packs, we got such amazing releases from Playmates. It is a very sad day for us TMNT Playmates collectors to think this will all come to end this time next year.

In looking at the letter Playmates released, you will see that come Dec 31st 2026, they will lose their license rights and cease to sell products 90 days thereafter. This is truly an end of an era, as Playmates has been the main Toy Company to produce and sell Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys. This news really makes me sad, and it leaves us with some many questions as to the future of the Master License for TMNT.
