Yo Joe! There is nothing quite like tearing open a retro cardback and finding a fresh new Joe underneath, and today we’ve got one that’s had me grinning ear to ear since I pulled him out of the box. Crazylegs is one of those characters I’ve always had a soft spot for. Back in the original 1987 line, he was the team’s Assault Trooper, the guy who’d parachute in while humming Beethoven and drag you out of a firefight without breaking a sweat. That combination of cool competence and quirky personality made him stand out in a roster already loaded with memorable characters. He was a deep cut that vintage collectors have been hoping would get the Classified treatment, and Hasbro finally delivered. This retro cardback release leans hard into that vintage nostalgia, giving us the classic packaging feel while packing in everything we love about the Classified Series. The sculpt looks sharp, the color palette stays faithful to the original figure’s look, and the accessory count is generous. You’re getting a removable helmet, goggles, a submachine gun, pistol, knife, backpack, and even a figure stand. That’s a full loadout worthy of a guy whose specialty is dropping into chaos. So let’s take a look at the Retro Cardback Crazylegs GI Joe Classified Series in hand review! We want to give a huge thanks to Big Bad Toy Store for sending us this Retro Cardback Crazylegs GI Joe Classified Series for review, and if he has been on your must have list, you can still grab him now at Big Bad Toy Store.

Crazy Legs in mid freefall descent after a hair raising parachute jump!

Packaging
The card artwork depicts Crazylegs mid-descent with a yellow and red zigzag pattern behind him, capturing his assault trooper persona with goggles pushed up on his helmet and a harness full of gear with that classic digital burst explosion behind him! The figure in the blister comes with a solid spread of accessories, including a red helmet, tan backpack, submachine gun, pistol, knife, and a set of removable goggles.

The back of the card features Crazylegs’ file card with his bio text in multiple languages, alongside the classic portrait showing him in his tan and red gear with goggles resting on his helmet. Three small reference photos along the bottom show the figure in different poses with his accessories, set against the signature yellow starburst pattern.

The clear plastic tray shows Crazylegs out of his cardback with the full accessory spread laid out around him, including the tan backpack, red helmet, goggles, submachine gun, pistol, knife, and a black figure stand at the base. His red and gray uniform with the tan harness strapping across the chest looks great, and that head sculpt is really solid.

Figure Details
Crazylegs stands in a full frontal view, showing the gray and red color-blocked uniform with its quilted red chest panel and red piping running down the inner legs. The quilted texture on the red vest sections of his uniform really comes through here. The tan full-body harness with its central circular buckle sits over the torso, and a black holster rests on his right hip.

From the side, the gray sleeves show segmented sculpting at the shoulder and elbow joints, with the quilted red panels wrapping around the upper back. He has on tan gloves and the black boots with their chunky treaded soles round out the color blocking nicely.

From the rear, the tan back panel features a small red Cobra-style emblem near the top and sculpted rivet details running down its center panel. The black strapping of the harness wraps around the waist and connects at the lower back, with a small black pouch hanging off the left hip.

From this side profile, the segmented gray cargo pants show sculpted pocket flaps along the thigh and knee area, with a slight gathering of material at the ankle where the pant leg meets the boot. The head sculpt catches the eye here, with Crazylegs’ short black hair neatly parted and a confident expression on his face.

A close-up reveals the aggressive expression on Crazylegs’ face sculpt, with his mouth open showing gritted teeth and sharply defined brows adding real intensity. The quilted texture on the red chest panel is even more pronounced up close, and the tan harness straps show crisp buckle detailing where they converge at the chest.

A close-up reveals the sculpted lines around Crazylegs’ jaw and chin, with the open-mouth expression showing individually sculpted teeth and a tensed lower lip. The skin tone has subtle shading around the eyes and along the bridge of the nose, and his dark brown eyes have a focused, intense look to them.

The sculpt on Crazylegs’ right arm shows the gray sleeve’s segmented armor plating at the shoulder, transitioning into a smoother forearm section that ends at the tan glove gripping the submachine gun. I like how the black harness strap loops over the shoulder with a small molded buckle detail where it connects to the chest webbing.

The left arm shows the quilted red shoulder panel transitioning into a gray sleeve with sculpted cargo pocket flaps and subtle wrinkle lines at the elbow joint. A tan knee pad with textured crosshatching sits just below the forearm, and the large tan backpack with its gathered fabric sculpting rests against the upper arm.

The sculpt on the backpack shows layered fabric folds cinched together with a wrapped cord detail across the midsection, giving it a convincing look of a stuffed rucksack with real weight to it. A small flap at the bottom has a sculpted drawstring loop, and the overall tan color is consistent with the harness and gloves.

Armed with a black submachine gun, Crazylegs is posed in a wide, aggressive stance with the tan harness strapping pulling tight across his torso. The red helmet with goggles pushed up on top and the holstered pistol on his hip complete the look of a figure loaded up and ready to go.

Crazylegs is posed gripping his submachine gun close to the chest, with the red helmet and pushed-up goggles framing that intense open-mouth expression. The mix of red quilted panels, gray sleeves, and tan gloves and harness creates a really clean color palette that pops in a full-figure action pose like this.

Crazylegs is posed with the red helmet and goggles on, his pistol raised high while his other hand grips the harness strap at chest level. The tinted olive-green lenses on the goggles sit flush against the helmet’s face opening, and the aggressive open-mouth expression works perfectly with the action pose.

Crazylegs is kneeling with a pistol drawn, his helmet and goggles removed to show the intense gritted-teeth expression while a tan duffel bag rests under his free hand. Laid out beside him are the red helmet, black submachine gun, and his removable goggles.

If you have a flightstand, you can have some fun with Crazylegs as he is jumping out of a plane! Posed with both arms raised and hands curled as if pulling parachute risers, Crazylegs looks like he’s in the middle of a freefall descent. The black boots and gray knee armor catch the light well here, and I’m really digging how the open-mouth expression sells the action of the pose.

Sporting the red helmet with goggles pushed up top, Crazylegs is caught mid-air with both arms thrown overhead and a submachine gun gripped tight. The tan harness straps pull across the quilted red vest as the gray pant legs and black boots hang loose beneath him, selling the freefall effect.

And for good measure, the parachute jump pose one more time for fun!
