DAY 3 of Reveals!! NEW MOTU Origins figures were revealed today, including 200x Skeletor, Mantenna, Grizzlor, Leech and Snout Spout and a freaking Roton!!!

Wow Mattel is going all out this week with it’s new Masters of the Universe reveals! On Day 3, they revealed Origins – 4 Villians, 1 Hero and an all new Vehicle!!

Last week, Mattel released a teaser image of upcoming Masterverse and Origins figures Pixel Dan’s Twitter feed. Fans were left to decipher the silhouettes, which lead to some interesting character interpretations! And now we have gotten some amazing Origins reveals so far!! Mattel unveiled yet again more new Masters of the Universe Origins Figures this morning thru their Facebook and Instagram pages! We don’t have pre-order information yet, but the figures are supposed to be coming this fall!

Masters of the Universe Origins New Reveals March 2022 Villians

The new Origins Figures unveiled today include 5 new figures and a vehicle:

  • 200 X Skeletor
  • Grizzlor (standard release)
  • Mantenna
  • Leech
  • Snout Spout
  • Roton Flying Assault Vehicle

200X Skeletor

Based on the Mike Young productions 2002 He Man and the Master of the Universe animated series, this version of Skeletor is supposed to be an update to the 1980’s Filmation version. This version of the cartoon was set on the futuristic planet of Primus and explored the origins for each character. Mattel release a line of action figures to coincide with this cartoon series, and this new Origins release is a direct homage to that 2002 version of Skeletor. This version of Skeletor has an all new head sculpt, and seems to share arms with the Keldor because he has the blue wrist bracers. He is sporting all new shin armor with an elaborately detailed design including a red jeweled accent. He is wearing a newly design skirt piece, and newly painted chest armor as well! The chest armor seems to be the same as the previous design but has purple, red and black paint applications He has an all new Power sword to match the 200x style design. His Havoc staff seems to be the Skeletor standard issue. I’ve got to say, this new version of Skeletor looks amazing!

Grizzlor (Standard Release)

Grizzlor, member of the Evil Horde, nemesis to She-Ra and her band of Rebels on the planet of Etheria, the Evil Horde is an interstellar empire, bent on dominating the Universe! Grizzlor was often featured in Hordak’s throne room, where many a time, Hordak would send poor Grizzlor thru the famous trap door. Dark Face Grizzlor has been previously released in the 2021 Power Con Exclusive Origins Evil Horde 4-Pack, but now we are getting the more common version of Grizzlor in his lighter skin tone and fur color. His head has real fur rooted hair and he is wearing a “fur” body suit in 2 halfs which allows his body to retain the interchangeability as the rest of the origins figures with the removeable torso section and removeable arms! I already own the Power Con exclusive version; I don’t know about you, but I am certainly going to pick up the standard release as well! It will be so cool to see this furry guy on own individual card back! I am so excited for this one and can’t wait to get him in hand!!

Mantenna

Mantenna is now yet another member to fill out the Evil Horde roster! This 4-legged creature with the red face and popping eyes was always a Horde favorite of fans. There was always a debate on how Mattel would handle the legs on Mantenna when they released him for the Origins line; were the 4 legs going to be side by side stuck together like on the vintage figure or was he going to have 4 separate legs like on MOTU Classics? Also was he going to have the eye-popping feature like the vintage figure? Well, guess they answered that today! Mantenna is getting 4 separate articulated legs and YES he has his eye popping feature as well!! Looks like the eye-popping feature is activated by pressing down on his head, unlike the vintage action figure that had a button on his back. Mantenna also comes with his classic grey crossbow! I am sooooo excited for this one!

Leech

We get one more member of the evil Horde, with Leech! Leech was also featured on the 1980’s She-Ra Princess of Power cartoon, but his action figure did not resemble the cartoon version. This Origins version of Leech, I have got to say is fantastic! In amazing homage to the vintage Leech action figure, this new Leech features the big red Horde symbol on his chest, suction cup feet but this time comes with 2 heads and 2 sets of hands! The alternate heads are in both Filmation head style and suction cup mood! He also has interchangeable suction hands! This new Origins Leech is freakin’ rad and the Leech I have always wanted! You bet I am going to pick this one up!!

Snout Spout

Snout Spout the Heroic Eternian Firefighter is back for MOTU Origins! He looks just like his vintage counterpart, with a robotic elephant face, orange body red gloves, blue shorts and black boots. This Origins version of Snout Spout looks to have an articulated snout that can stretch open and bend! He also comes with an additional nose attachment to resemble the Filmation version. He also is equipped with a water tank backpack by which you can fill and spray his firefighting water spray action feature! He comes with his firefighting axe as well! This will be a fun one to pick up!

Released by Mattel in 1986, the vintage version of Snout Spout was a kids favorite as he featured a cool water squirting action feature!

According to the Wiki Grayskull

Snout Spout is a fictional character in the popular Masters of the Universe franchise. He is a cyborg with a human body and a metal elephant head. He serves the Heroic Warriors as a firefighter, his main power being to spray jets of water, stored in a special pack on his back, from his trunk, which he refills periodically from rivers and lakes.

Snout Spout also appeared in the She-Ra and the Princess of Power cartoon from the 80’s under the name Hose Nose until his official Masters of the Universe figure release where they branded him Snout Spout! The Battleramblog wrote a fantastic article called SNOUT SPOUT: HEROIC WATER-BLASTING FIREFIGHTER about Snout Spout so be sure to read that too!

Roton- Flying Assault Vehicle

We are finally getting a Roton and we couldn’t be more excited!! We predicted this one as we cover in our Vehicles and Playsets teaser article. If you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend the article, as it was a blast to write and a very fun read! We chronical in great detail all the vehicle and playsets Mattel has teased thru their artwork thus far. If you want to read that, click HERE!

In classic Origins Style, this new Version of the Roton harkens right back to the vintage 1984 version, with the same monstrous red eyes, red laser cannons and red turning sawblade! But in classic Mattel fashion, they have upgraded this puppy to be a more deluxe version, similar to the MOTU Classics Roton BUT actually, it shares more in common with the Roton from the Monogram Snap Tite model kit series!

It comes with additional accessories that include a top cage and red monstrous face mask for the from. It’s hard to tell if that is an interchangeable piece or sits on the front of the Roton as a mask, but none the less it is very cool! Can’t wait to get this one in hand and start those clicky clack sawblades a spinin’!

The Roton, evil flying assault vehicle, was prominently used throughout the 1980’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Filmation cartoon. Skeletor and his minions were frequently spotted sporting around in it!

First released by Mattel in 1984, the Roton was a fan favorite and so much fun to play with! I just loved sitting Skeletor in the seat and pushing the Roton forward. Then it started making that clickity clack sound and got the sawblade spinning! It was so much fun and brings me right back to childhood! I could play with that thing all day, and I will with the new Origins one!
