July 15, 2025 Update: Mutant Module Spotted at Target Stores
The TMNT Classic Reissue Mutant Module has officially been spotted in the wild! Thanks to a tip from website visitor Bethany and photos shared by @themancollects on Instagram, we now have confirmation that this classic vehicle has landed on shelves at Target. Priced at $42.99, the Mutant Module’s DPCI is 087-26-1779, so be sure to check your local stores or plug the code into the Target app to track one down. This reissue brings back a fan-favorite vehicle from the original Playmates line, so don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
Sewer Lair Classic Reissue
The front of the packaging is a wonderful recreation of the vintage original. The artwork has the same vintage style and charm that made the original such a sought after piece! It has Bebop peering from behind the fence and Mikey swinging by, and Raph popping up from the Sewer. They you can see a whole scene going on below the surface of the Sewer Lair. Splinter is meditating and Don is looking through the periscope. Leo is ready to take on an approaching foot soldier.
The back of the package features a nice product shot pointing out all the playset features.

Mutant Module Classic Reissue
The front of the Mutant Module package is a wonderful recreation of the vintage packaging. It features Shredder piloting the Mutant Module with Foot Soldiers hanging onto the side. It is drilling through the sewer walls and going after Raph!
The rear of the packing features a phot of the actual Mutant Module and points of the vehicles action features.
The Mutant Module has a translucent canopy, and driller front end, plus all those cool details all over! Below you can see the Mutant Module Hi Res Images. You can see that Shredder can ride inside and there is a clear cockpit window. It looks amazing, just like the vintage vehicle! It’s amazing that Playmates is going down this route!
The cockpit window splits open in the middle to reveal the figure piloting the Mutant Module inside. You can also have two foot solider riding on the sides as well!
The Vintage Sewer Lair Playset
The Playmates 1989 Sewer Lair Playset was a popular toy released as part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toyline. The playset was designed to mimic the look of the Turtles’ underground hideout in the sewers of New York City.
The playset featured multiple levels for the Turtles to play and hang out, including a street-level entrance and a sewer pipe slide for quick escapes. It also included features like a trap door, a working periscope, a zip line, and a spinning turntable.
The playset was designed to work with the action figures from the TMNT toyline, allowing kids to recreate scenes from the animated TV show and comic books. The playset was a popular item among fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and is now a highly sought-after collectible for both toy collectors and lovers of the TMNT franchise.
The Vintage Mutant Module
The 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Module was a toy vehicle released as part of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toyline by Playmates Toys. The Mutant Module was a three-wheeled, amphibious vehicle that resembled a futuristic motorcycle that could transform into a hovercraft. The Mutant Module featured a cockpit for one of the Turtles to sit in, as well as various weapons and gadgets that could be attached to the vehicle.
The toy also came with a detachable sidecar that could be used for additional Turtle figures to ride in. The Mutant Module was a popular toy among fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise due to its unique design and features. It was released in conjunction with the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, which helped to increase its popularity even further.
