It has a maximum speed of Mach 3.2 and is capable of short sprints at Mach 3.5 (2,310 mph), in the film g.i joe:the rise of cobra it is said to do mach 6 making it the fastest conventional aircraft in the entire world, even faster than the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, on which it is based. The dual “Viper” XF turbojet engines, based on a ramjet design, only increase in power as the jet moves faster. The Night Raven is used for covert and intelligence-gathering missions as well as high-speed pursuit attacks.
Night Raven: JoePedia

Raven
A female Cobra Night Raven pilot who was forced to cooperate with Slip-Stream when they shot each other down onto an island Dr. Mindbender had planned to regain. Despite her devotion, the B.A.T.s guarding the island nearly strangled her before Slip-Stream saved her. She eventually revealed what the island’s lab was for and they narrowly escaped from the bio-annihilator. She removed her Cobra arm patch on the chopper ride out of there and defected to the Joes.

Here is Raven’s appearance in the GI Joe cartoon as she denounces Cobra.

Previous Rumors
As our countdown to San Diego Comic Con 2024, we are turning our attention to heavily rumored GI Joe HasLab. The internet is speculating that the next GI Joe HasLab will be a GI Joe Classified Series scale Cobra Rattler. In the annals of GI Joe history, few vehicles have commanded the awe and excitement of the 1984 GI Joe Cobra Rattler. A fearsome predator of the skies, the Rattler isn’t just a toy, it reminds us of an experience we had as kids as we engaged in countless dogfights with the Sky Striker. As the cornerstone of Cobra’s aerial supremacy, and a marvel of design that translated Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II into the coolest Cobra single-seat, twin-turbofan, straight-wing, subsonic attack aircraft.

Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, affectionately known as the “Warthog,” is one of the most iconic and effective ground-attack aircraft in military history. Developed to meet the United States Air Force’s need for a rugged, survivable, and highly effective close air support (CAS) platform, the A-10 has played a crucial role in numerous conflicts since its introduction. According to Wikipedia, the A-10 Thunderbolt II was “developed by Fairchild Republic for the United States Air Force (USAF). In service since 1977, it is named after the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, but is commonly referred to as the “Warthog” or simply “Hog”. The A-10 was designed to provide close air support (CAS) to ground troops by attacking enemy armored vehicles, tanks, and other ground forces; it is the only production-built aircraft designed solely for CAS to have served with the U.S. Air Force. Its secondary mission is to direct other aircraft in attacks on ground targets, a role called forward air controller-airborne; aircraft used primarily in this role are designated OA-10.”

Vintage Cobra Rattler
From the moment you lay eyes on the Cobra Rattler, you’re struck by its sleek, dark blue fuselage, emblazoned with Cobra insignia. The Rattler immediately sets it apart from anything else in the GI Joe arsenal although a case can be made that the Sky Striker is just as iconic. The Rattler is a beast both in appearance and function, bristling with weaponry and ready for any mission.

The Rattler’s design draws clear inspiration from the real-world A-10 Thunderbolt, but it takes this formidable war machine to the next level with a series of thrilling modifications. Its rotatable turrets, detailed cockpit, and swing-wing design provide both authenticity and playability.

A modification that Cobra made to the A-10 was the addition of the Gunner Station that allows anyone in the Cobra army to hitch a ride with Wild Weasel and provide some additional air cover. The Rattler comes with a series of bombs and removable panels, providing a gateway for our imagination when we were kids to drum up stories about daring bombing runs and detailed maintenance scenarios with the removable panel accessories.

In 1984, the Rattler was originally sold as part of the vehicle packages of the A Real American Hero series. It was sold in 1984 and in 1985. It included a Wild Weasel action figure.
Wild Weasel’s action figure is characterized by a striking red flight suit, which sets him apart from the predominantly blue-clad Cobra troops. This red uniform not only makes him instantly recognizable but also ties him visually to the Cobra Rattler, emphasizing his specialized role. Wild Weasel has a unique, fully enclosed helmet with a large, black visor that conceals his face, adding an air of mystery. The helmet design includes a “muzzle” detail around the mouth area and two large protrusions at the back, possibly representing communication equipment or stabilization aids for flight. Adding a touch of flair, Wild Weasel wears a blue scarf around his neck, which could be seen as a nod to classic aviator style or perhaps a playful homage to characters like Freddy from “Scooby-Doo.” His flight suit is detailed with a painted black harness and four large cargo pockets on the torso, reflecting practical, real-world aviation gear. The harness design continues to his belt, ensuring a cohesive look.

Wild Weasel File Card
File Name: Classified
Birthplace: Classified
Primary Specialty: Ground support pilot
Wild Weasel cut his teeth in the bus wars of South America and Africa during the last decade. His knowledge of close support aircraft ranges from jury-rigged civilian conversions to ultra state-of-the-art flying weapons platforms. A mouth injury inflicted during a strafing run is rumored to be the cause of the characteristic sibilance in his speech pattern.
Wild Bill says: “He may be a back-shootin’, low down snake in the grass, but the boy can fly like nobody’s business. You gotta respect the skunk for that! Hey-what did Voltaire say? To forgive our enemies their virtues-that is the greater miracle.”

Cobra Rattler GI Joe Classified Series Concepts
When we do not have official images of figures and vehicles, we look to customizers in both plastic and digital renders for inspiration as to what a GI Joe lassified Series scale Cobra Rattler would look like.

Looking at a 3D printed GI Joe Classified scale Rattler, it does not look as gigantic as I’d imagined.

Looking at a 3D printed GI Joe Classified scale Rattler along side the HasLab HISS Tank, it does not look as gigantic as I’d imagined. The Rattler looks like it is a little longer than the HISS Tank and, given the compact nature of the Rattler, the wing span is not rediculous.

Wild Weasel Concept
We love to turn to customizers for inspiration and YoJoeARAH created a killer Wild Weasel GI Joe Classified Series concept! With the Hasbro team creating alternate heads of formerly masked vintage figures (e.g., Big Boa), it would be cool to see what Wild Weasel looked like with his helmet off!

Here is how YoJoeARAH created Wild Weasel, in his own words, “For Wild Weasel the crimson guard base body worked well, it being red already solved any concern for joint rub. After cutting away parts of the uniform to make it look more like a flight suite I sculpted the lower legs on top of the boots to look like cloth and and using the cobra Officer arm Band was able to make gloves. The rest of the build is detailed on one of the slides. Helmets were from Don man art and gridiron studios.”
