ThunderCats are loose because, I was able to find Lion-O and Snarf in store, so I have been able to bring you this Super7 Deluxe ThunderCats LJN Lion-O & Snarf in hand review! Unveiled at Target’s Fall Geek Out 2025 Drop #2, the fan favorites from Third Earth returned with in Super7’s ThunderCats Deluxe Figures Wave 3! Now Super7 Deluxe ThunderCats LJN Lion-O and Snarf are starting to ship to fans and are showing up on store shelves and I was lucky enough to pick them up! You are probably wondering how this Lion-O and Snarf stack up to the Ultimates releases, well we also have a figure comparison for you! So let’s dive right in to this review!

These two look great together! I just love these LJN vintage Toy color versions! Lion-O’s sword of Omens and claw shield have an orangish color to them, just like the vintage LJN ones!

I’m glad that Super7 decided to pack him with that vertical hinged right gripping hand as you can pose him with his sword aloft!

Lion-O Toy Version Deluxe
Lion-O comes in his toy-inspired colors with bright orange skin, blue outfit, and vivid red hair. He’s packed with a red claw shield, the Sword of Omens, and features strong muscular sculpting. The packaging shows the figure and accessories clearly displayed in a retro Thundercats cardback style.

Let’s take a look at Lion-O from all four sides. You can see that this is a pinless version and uses the newer buck with the nice curved torso cut. This is not simply a recolor of the first deluxe version, as this has an all new head sculpt and has that classic vintage sculpting details to his hair.

Views from left and right. You can see he still has the peg to hold his claw shield on his hip, although you can’t attach this included claw shield to it.

Snarf toy version Deluxe
Snarf is in his classic red fur, beige belly, big ears, and fluffy yellow mane. He comes with a small Sword of Omens, a bright orange satchel, and a long, curled tail. He comes packaged on the same Deluxe card back with the white burst on black card and ThunderCats illustration on the rear.

Let’s take a look at Snarf from all four sides. This is not simply a recolor of the first deluxe version. You can see that this is based on the first Ultimates version of Snarf, but he has an all new head sculpt, reminiscent of the vintage LJN version, which we will compare to further below.

Comparisons
They aren’t just repaints of the first releases, as you will see from the comparisons below. First let’s start out by looking at the first Wave 6 LJN toy color variant and the vintage LJN originals all alongside the new Deluxe version ( second from the left).

Here you can see the vintage LJN originals all alongside the new deluxe version in the center. The deluxe version has a slender build that the vintage originals and is a mix between the red and orange hair color.

Finally, the Ultimates Wave 6 version with the new Deluxe version. The deluxe version has a slender build the first Wave 6 version. It also has the more curved upper waist cut, like the more recent releases of Lion-O.

Now let’s take a look at Snarf Ultimates versus the Deluxe toy color releases. The biggest difference is face sculpts as the new Deluxe resembles the vintage articulated LJN version. Also you will notice the that the tail of the new Deluxe Snarf is not painted yellow.

You can see that the Deluxe version has a different face sculpt which is reminiscent of the vintage LJN figure. I don’t own the larger articulated version, but we do have a photo from online archives for your reference below. You can really see the similarities in his face sculpt and coloring.
