We are excited to bring you this Teela and Zoar MOTU Origins 2 Pack Exclusive Hands on Review

The long awaited Teela and Zoar 2 pack is fantastic and we got it in hand! Several months ago, our Toy Habits source confirmed that a Zoar & Teela Two Pack Exclusive was in the works for the Masters of the Universe Origins line as Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth exclusives, and now it’s here!. With beautiful package art, a ton of accessories and a perfect homage to the vintage figures, Mattel hit it out of the park with this two pack. So let’s dive into this hands on review!

Packaging

Mattel outdid themselves on the gorgeous art work for this two pack. The art is beautiful on the front as Teela and Zoar are front and center with a cool planet-scape background. The window display shows off both figure and creature with all of the their accessories. The inner blue background also helps to set off the brightly colored figures and accessories in the front of the packaging.

On the back of the box, we can see a huge illustration of Zoar with Screeech in pursuit as Teela is fending off Skeletor. Speaking of Screeech, this creature was also teased before on the Panthor and Stridor box art so hopefully it will be making it into the line soon. Well, who are we kidding, Mattel has most likely already made Screeech when they made Zoar! We also see the Wave 10 cross sell art, which include the newer figures coming to the Origins line!

Pack Out

The pack out for this Teela Zoar two pack is filled with great accessories and looks amazing layed out on it’s bubble packaging. We also get an exciting new addition to the Origins line, our first bird! This brightly colored orange and blue Origins version of Zoar harkens back to the vintage complete with battle armor and perch!

Teela

This version of Teela has a brand-new head sculpt with new make up on her face and a pony tail hair do. She also has the new knee design as well, that seems more natural looking than the previous new female knees. Her outfit has new gold-colored accents and new boot color scheme. You will notice the great snake details in all of Teela’s accessories. This Teela is more than just a repaint, it looks like Mattel has upgraded her quite a bit. Teela also comes with some new accessories. Her yellow sword has a nice snake themed design to match her yellow snake shaped staff, and shield. Teela also includes her signature burgundy colored snake armor as well.

From the back you will notice larger new ponytail that hangs off her head, unlike the original Origins release which was more of a bun design.

Head

Unlike the rest of the Teela figure, Teela’s head is an all new sculpt. Her face has a more sweet look to it, and she is wearing a different type of tiara. This tiara sits higher back on her head. And as you can see, Teela is sporting a pony tail this time, instead of the bun hair do that the previous version of Teela. Her make up is very subtle as well, and she has beautiful eyes and nice eye lashes. Her lips have a little bit of rose color, which looks very nice.

Below you can see what she looks like wearing her snake armor. As you can see the upper back part of the snake armor tucks in under her ponytail.

In comparison you can see the original Origin’s Teela’s head below. She has a more serious look on her face and her tiara is larger and up closer to the front of her head. She also has darker colored reddish brown hair and her hair is more of an up do bun style.

Arms, Torso and Legs

The arms, torso and legs are the same sculpt as the first version of Teela, except her skin tone is lighter and she has a different color scheme. This Teela has a white and yellow gold colored outfit with yellowish gold arm bracers and yellowish gold neck liner and accents on her outfit.

Teela’s boots on this version are alittle different as well, as they are slightly different reddish brown color and the fur on the top of the boots are now painted white. It is nice to have this added paint application to the boots as it makes them look more interesting.

Accessories

This version of Teela comes with a yellow snake staff, a new yellow sword and her sheild. The Snake staff and shield share the same sculpt as the previous version of Teela. Although I did notice that the hand on the handle of the shield on this version is made of a much harder plastic than the first version of Teela and also the Green goddess. This is odd and this new Teela tends to drop her weapons, as perhaps her gripping hands were not made tight enough. The yellow sword is a new sculpt and includes some nice snake like details.

MOTU Origins Teela Zoar 2 pack Teela Accessories

Zoar

Zoar is a perfect homage to her vintage counterpart. Zoar includes her flight armor and vintage inspired perch as well. And this version of the stand has much better balance than the vintage version. If you were wondering if Zoar retains her action features, and the answer is a resounding YES! The action button is on Zoar’s rear right leg, and when you press on it, it activates her wing flapping action feature. Zoar retains her bright orange color and bright blue and white color scheme tail feathers as well!

Below are images of Zoar wearing her flight armor, which is a tribute to the vintage design as well.

Zoar’s accessories

Zoar includes 2 accessories that are just like the vintage figure. Zoar comes with her flight armor, which is a brighter red plastic color than the vintage version. She also includes her perch. As you can see the perch has a nice wide base, that is now more stable and stands great when you perch Zoar on the top of the stand.

Origins Figure Comparison

Here you can see the new Teela from the two pack and the original Origins Teela release. The two figures share all the same body parts except for the head sculpt. As you can see this new Teela has a lighter skin tone, and as previously mentioned, a white and yellowing gold colored outfit. She also has a pony tail hair do, where the original Teela has an updo bun hair style, and slightly darker hair. The original Origins Teela’s outfit is an off white color with a more bronze gold color accents.

Vintage Figure Comparison

The vintage Teela action figure matches more closely to the Original Origins Teela release than this new Teela from the two pack. But we have images below so you can see how the two compare.

Here we have all the versions of Teela togther, including the green repair of the Green Goddess so you can see how they all stack up. Mattel really got their money’s worth out of this sculpt and were able to crank out 3 figures with the Teela mold.

Zoar vintage comparison

Now let’s take a look at how Zoar compares with her vintage counterpart as well. Both figures have the same orange, blue and white color schemes. The new version of Zoar is a much brighter orange color which is typical of the Origins figures. But I really like her bright color. Also they recreated Zoar’s stand as well, but in a brighter red color and with a larger base. The vintage stand tends to fall over and is very unbalanced, but the larger base of the new one allows the stand to be much more stable than the vintage version.

You can also see how Zoar’s flight armor matches the vintage version but in a brighter red color.

This new Teela Zoar 2 pack is a must buy, if anything, you are getting an awesome accessory for your Castle Greyskull playset, as what castle would be complete without Zoar on her perch? Also this new version of Teela is a very nice figure and I really enjoyed the new head sculpt. The only criticisms I have of this figure is that at times, Teela was hard to stand up and her grip was not very tight on the accessories. But all in all she is a very nice figure and I would highly recommend this set, for that reason I give this a 6.5 starts out of 7.0.
