Teela MOTU Origins Movie In-Package Images

Massive thanks to @motuc_photos_by_djansky on Instagram for coming through once again, this time with in-package images of the MOTU Origins Movie Teela, giving us our best look yet at how this Target exclusive is shaping up before she starts hitting the pegs. We’ve been tracking this one for a while now, starting back when a physical prototype was spotted on the Fright Fighter box, which was a fun little tease that had collectors studying every pixel of that packaging art trying to figure out what Mattel had in store. Then the official images dropped alongside her wave-mate when both she and Skeletor went up for preorder, and now seeing her sealed in the card gives a much better sense of the final product and how the deco and accessories translate under that blister. I love how the card art carries the movie aesthetic while still feeling unmistakably Origins in its presentation, and the figure itself looks clean with a sculpt that pulls from the film’s interpretation of the character while fitting right in on the shelf next to the rest of the Origins lineup. It’s always cool to see a figure go from early tease to in-package confirmation, and this one has had a nice little journey that collectors have been following in real time. Now the wait is just for her to actually show up at Target, and with her surfacing like this, that window is likely getting very close.

In-Package Images

Like the other MOTU Origins Movie figures, the card art features Castle Grayskull’s skull facade erupting with fiery red energy blasts, a classic MOTU packaging motif that really pops behind the blister. Teela is packaged with her sword alongside her, and the white and gold outfit is looking good!

Teela’s head sculpt has a strong likeness but somehow, like the Man-At-Arms movie figure, the human MOTU Origins figures look a little off. Her gold top has horizontal ribbed detailing across the midsection, and the brown bracers on her forearms have a nice layered, segmented texture.

Again, the amazing fetch.franciscoetchart has illustrated the back of the packaging, which features a dramatic painted illustration of Teela perched on a rocky outcrop, sword in hand, Castle Grayskull behind her in the fiery sky. Her armor in the artwork has a more detailed, battle-worn quality than the figure’s sculpt.
