There are also some new characters that can be seen in the image of the display. Here is it! Also you can see that there is a place to park your Wind Raider at the top of Grayskull Tower!

Eternia Playset:
And now we get to the Heroic Warriors grand-daddy of them all! The largest Masters of the Universe playsets to ever be made and one of the second largest playsets to come out of the 1980’s second only to the G.I. Joe U.S.S Flagg, yes folks it’s Eternia!! Those 3 grand towers connected by that awesome monorail we all wish we had as kids! ( and some as adults too!)
Was Mattel hinting at something when they debuted Eterina in all its glory in one of the main scenes on the Netflix Revelation cartoon? Presented to the audience as Preternia, it looked like something straight out of Eden, with flowing green grasses, beautiful trees, and majestic mountains in the background that lead to the Acropolis… yes that mystical location of Eternia!

Used as the ultimate battle ground, Eternia was featured in prominent MOTU artwork posters like the vintage one shown below for Mattel to proudly display the vast universe of products available for kids to spend their not so hard earned allowance on, or beg their parents to buy them for their for birthday or Christmas!

In the 1986 mini comic; the Ultimate Battle Ground, Eternia arose on the land that used to separate Castle Grayskull from Snake Mountain. The Sorceress explained that eons ago, before Castle Grayskull, there stood Grayskull Tower, symbol of goodness. But then there stood another tower, a tower of evil known as Viper Tower. And between these two towers was Central Tower, which held the power of both good and evil, but all 3 towers were forever connected. The towers were buried by the ancients to keep them from falling into the hands of King Hiss, only to return from deep within Eternia, and so begins this epic battle for the towers!

The Mattel Eternia playset debuted in 1986, with its 3 large towers connected by a monorail system. The Central tower, was the largest of the 3 measuring over 30″, representing the power of good and evil. It had 4 floors inside, a command console, red laser cannon, and a working elevator to take you to the top. The base had stickers on it to represent a moat with some amazing artwork. The main entrance of the Central Tower was shaped like the face of a lion with working arms and claws that could reach out and grab unsuspecting visitors. The working mouth on the lion opened and closed the drawbridge feature.

The other two towers were representations of Grayskull Tower and Viper Tower. Grayskull Tower was made of the same green colored craggily stone looking plastic as Castle Grayskull, forming a tall turret. It had a long winding staircase leading to a dungeon below. Viper Tower on the other hand had a cool red snake wrapping around it and a neat landing platform perched on a rock. All connected by a freaking real working monorail!!! It came with countless accessories and provided hours and hours of fun for kids of all ages! I mean this thing was screamy cool all over the place! If you owned one of these as a kid, you were king of the neighborhood!

We got our first glimpse at Eternia on the MOTU Origins Stratos card back artwork. You can barely make it out, but way in the background amongst the clouds, you can see the silhouette of the 3 Towers.

But where Mattel stopped making subtle hints and really put Eternia front and center so to speak was in their brilliant use of 2 deluxe figure card backs to make a giant scene! The Flying Fist He-Man card back when placed next to the Terror Claw Skeletor card back come together to make a huge panoramic gorgeous battle scene. The 3 Towers of Eternia are shown, Grayskull Tower and Central Tower on the Flying First card back and Viper Tower on the Terror Claw card back. Wow, if Mattel were making this playset, I’m sure the kid in all of us would be jumping for joy! Hint, hint Mattel, we really, really, I mean really want you to make this playset!!

New Characters
Not only do we get to take a look at a leaked photo the new Eternia Playset, we also found a bunch of new Characters in this photo as well!
New Adventures Galactic Protector He-Man
If you look closely at the image, you can see a New Adventures He-Man in the glass display case by the Windraider! You can clearly see that New Adventures of He-Man style card back packaging!

I always really loved the design of the Galactic Protector in vintage form and in Classics! The Battleramblog has a fantastic article entitled HE-MAN: MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE! (1989) and we encourage you to read it!

Kobra Khan
Let’s start with the first character we get teased at right off the bat on the front of the Roton Package! Axel Gimenez did an amazing job paying tribute to the classic box art, which you can find on the Battle Ram Blog plus an exhaustive history of the evil assault vehicle if you are interested. If you look closely at the box art, you can see what looks like Kobra Khan on the bottom left creeping underneath the rocks. We have had several leaks about Kobra Khan coming to Origins that we covered in Snake Men coming to MOTU Origins in 2023 and Kobra Kahn & MOTU Origins Snake Men Coming in 2023! If you want to see more teased figures based on the MOTU Origins box and card art, we’ve rounded up the potential future releases so check it out for a fun read!

But this isn’t the first time we have seen Kobra Khan teased on MOTU packaging art. Kobra Kahn made a clandestine appearance on the Roboto card art as he is hiding in the bushes lying in wait!

And we most recently say Kobra Khan make a huge appearance on the MOTU Origins Deluxe Snout Spout Card back art as well! He can be seen standing right behind King Hiss! Which by the way is another snake man we covered that might be coming to Origins in 2023, and what do you know, here he is front and center on Snout Spout’s card art!

Kobra Khan was released by Mattel in 1984. He was actually originally considered a member of the Evil Warriors as he often made apperances as one of Skeletor’s henchmen on the 1980’s Filmation cartoon. He was later considered one of the Snake Men following their introduction to the line in 1986. Unlike the other two Snake Men covered above, Kobra Khan did have some shared parts to the previous MOTU figures. He was made of the same monster type arms and legs as Skeletor. But he did however have a brand-new torso and head sculpt. As a matter of fact, his head and torso was a completely new design as it allowed kids to lift off the head and fill the torso with water. By then replacing the head and pressing it down, Kobra Khan would release his “venom” spray feature misting out the water thru an opening in his mouth! His torso’s design featured a scaly design with brown scale straps and an all new belt design as well. Kobra Khan came with a simple red laser pistol, the same as came packed Zodac. Will the new Origins version include the “venom” spray action feature? Can’t wait to find out!
According to the Wiki Grayskull:
Kobra Khan was introduced into the Masters of the Universe toy line in 1984. His action figure’s special feature is to spray water. The figure’s head is removable, and the hollow torso can be filled with water, so that when the head is back in place, it can be pushed down to spray water from its mouth.
Kobra Khan appears on the cartoon shortly after his figure was released. He is one of the few Evil Warriors on the cartoon to be portrayed in a darker, more serious manner as opposed to being used for comedy value. He is usually paired with Webstor and the two of them are often seen to work as a duo. They are first paired in the episode “Disappearing Dragons” which portrays Khan as the leader of the two. He is portrayed as a sly, scheming and sullen character, capable of taking on numerous opponents at once with his sleep mist. Never fearful or bumbling around the Heroic Characters, his low, whisper-like, hissing voice provided by Lou Scheimer enhances the portrayal of him as a reserved and sinister character.

Rattlor
Now let’s get to the bevy of Snake Man we have spotted in this photo as well. The First one we noticed right off the bat was Rattlor!

Rattlor was first released by Mattel in 1986. Unlike most of the previous MOTU figures that came before him, with commonly reused parts, Rattlor was unique in that it had a completely new body, new tail, new head and popping neck feature! His chest sculpt was all new as well and his body was covered in a scaly texture. The snake attack action feature was activated by pressing a button on his back, which was hidden with the rubber tail, made the spring-loaded elongated neck pop up. If you notice, Rattlor had an especially long torso, and that was by design to accommodate the elongated neck inside. Rattlor also included a Rattling sound that was made by shaking him, so mimic the noise of a Rattle snake. He was packed with a burgundy snake shaped staff. Will the new Origins version include Rattlor’s trademark action features? Only time will tell!
According to the Wiki Grayskull:
He first appears in the “King of the Snake Men” MOTU minicomic, where he and Tung Lashor are called from another dimension by King Hiss. When they appear, Kobra Khan says they “are from the Evil Horde on Etheria!”, but both Snake Men swear allegiance again to their former leader King Hiss.
He also appears in the She-Ra: Princess of Power TV series as a member of the Evil Horde and, in later episodes, one of Skeletor’s Evil Warriors. The original MOTU cartoon had come to a close by the time his figure was released.

The vintage Masters of the Universe Rattlor figure features a maroon-scaled snake warrior with a segmented, textured body and a long tail that fades from red to yellow at the tip. His front torso and snout are painted in a pale yellow, with bold blue and yellow scale patterns running down the sides of his arms and legs. Rattlor’s head is sculpted with wide, glaring yellow eyes and an open mouth, ready to strike. The figure includes his signature red snake staff, coiled in a striking pose, and a belt with a green snake emblem at the center. Known for his extending neck action feature, this Snake Men member retains the distinctive sculpting and vibrant colors that made him a memorable part of the vintage MOTU line.

Action Figure with staff

Action Figure with staff
Rattlor’s signature action feature is his spring-loaded extending neck, activated by pressing the yellow button on the back of his belt. When triggered, his head shoots upward, revealing a long segmented yellow neck that mimics a real snake striking at its prey. This quick-attack mechanism, combined with his bright eyes and open-mouthed fangs, gives the vintage Masters of the Universe figure an added layer of playability that set him apart from other Snake Men members.

The vintage Masters of the Universe Rattlor packaging features bold red card art with the MOTU logo at the top and a striking Snake Men emblem—two green serpents flanking a fanged snake mouth behind the character’s name. The front showcases Rattlor posed in the blister bubble holding his snake staff, with his yellow chest armor and blue-striped limbs prominently displayed. The lower left corner of the card front includes an action callout noting his battle rattle sound before attacking. On the back, the card art depicts an action scene where Rattlor lunges forward at He-Man with his neck extended in a quick-strike attack. Below the scene, illustrated step-by-step instructions show how to activate his action feature by pushing the tail or waist to make the head shoot out, then pressing the head back down to reset. The final panel highlights his rattling tail, emphasizing his snake-like menace.

Other Snake Men??
Also we spotted multiple other Snake Men which we can’t identify as they look to be new characters. There was a Green Snake Man with an etended next standing by the Eternian Palace Guard who looks similar to Rattlor. Then there was a Blue Snake Man lying on the ground of the display near the front that looks to have head of a snake that is spraying venom and also an extended neck. Can this be a Snakemen 3 pack?

King Hiss
It looks like Kiss Hiss is joining the party as well. If you look carefully, we can make out King Hiss’s 3 snake heads standing by the right arm of the Lion’s head!

First introduced to the Masters of the Universe line in 1986, King Hiss was the leader of the of the Snake Men. He looked like a human, but underneath, he was really a snake man. The King Hiss action figure was made of several parts of a human head / torso and arm shell pieces that would clip onto the figure to conceal the slithering snake body underneath. His legs were human shaped as well but did not transform. He wore green armor with golden yellow gloves. His accessories included a red shield and a green snake staff. This was the same staff as came packed with most of the other Snake Men. King Hiss was an all-new figure sculpt due to the transforming nature of the character and was released much later in the line, when there were tooling dollars to pull off such a new character.
According to the Wiki Grayskull:
King Hiss (also known as King Hssss[1]) is a character in the Masters of the Universe franchise. He was the villainous leader of the Snake Men and one of He-Man‘s more powerful enemies. Although he never appears in the original animated series by Filmation, which had ceased production by the time the figure was released. Hiss makes a belated animated debut in the 2002 relaunch of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Mike Young Productions, this time as the major villain of the second season.

Retail Release Grizzlor
What looks to be the retail release of Grizzlor can be seen tearing poor Roboto apart, standing by Clawful by the Eternia Tower. As we covered in our Reveals: Roton and the Horde Invade MOTU Origins back in March, Mattel revealed their lighter brown standard version of Grizzlor and it looks like we get a look at him hear!

Grizzlor, member of the Evil Horde, nemesis to She-Ra and her band of Rebels on the planet of Etheria, the Evil Horde is an interstellar empire, bent on dominating the Universe! Grizzlor was often featured in Hordak’s throne room, where many a time, Hordak would send poor Grizzlor thru the famous trap door. Dark Face Grizzlor has been previously released in the 2021 Power Con Exclusive Origins Evil Horde 4-Pack, but now we are getting the more common version of Grizzlor in his lighter skin tone and fur color. His head has real fur rooted hair and he is wearing a “fur” body suit in 2 halfs which allows his body to retain the interchangeability as the rest of the origins figures with the removeable torso section and removeable arms! I already own the Power Con exclusive version; I don’t know about you, but I am certainly going to pick up the standard release as well! It will be so cool to see this furry guy on own individual card back! I am so excited for this one and can’t wait to get him in hand!!

Glowing Skeletons
We first saw the appearance of the mysterious green glowing skeletons on the front of the Masters of the Universe Origins Castle Grayskull box art. They were emerging out of the ground by Evil Lyn, Yri-Klops and Ram Man, coming back from the dead and on the attack! They are sporting glowing Viking Helmets, spears, swords and shield. These characters have yet to be made into action figure form, but how cool would it be to get glow in the dark versions!!!

We next saw the glowing green skeletons appear battling the Man At Arms and the Eternian Palace guards on the 2021 Eternian Palace Guard Royal Defender Master of the Universe Origins Packaging art wheedling swords and axes and spears, shown on the front and side of the package! And we also get hint at some vines and Moss Man’s hand coming out of the ground.

On the Wun-Dar comic card back art and the “Lost Legend” comic, Wun-Dar is depicted battling these Viking Horned Helmet Glowing green skeletons and they freakin amazing!! Here seen in the comic below, again they are emerging out of the ground from the un-dead, just like they were from the Origins Castle Grayskull package and the Eterian Palace Guard artwork.

Snake Armor He-Man
As we can see, Snake Armor He Man is standing at the gates of Eternia and he looks amazing! He has very intricate armor and accessories.

It looks like Mattel is making more 200x variants for the Origins line, as He-Man and Skeletor were introduced in brand new sculpts back in mid-March and we just saw their carded images for the first time back in April. First introduced in the MOTU 200x line, Snake Armor He-Man features a brand-new design based on the Mike Young Productions Masters of the Universe Cartoon Series that aired back in 2002. With a pronounced piece of shoulder armor plus his right arm wrapped in protective armor, he can fend off any attack from the Snake Men. He-Man has to lead with his right as his entire left side is exposed but we are certain he will prevail! His special pincer attachment on his right wrist guard will also give him the upper hand! In addition to his armor on his upper body, his torso and right leg are also wrapped in armor with some very cool texturing and designs. The addition of the Snake Men symbol completes the look and is set off in a nice red and gold color palette. He-Man also received an upgraded power sword that features a hidden projectile that he can stow on the back of his armor. This oversized sword has a the same hilt and cross guard design as the first release of 200x He-Man but this one is oversized to accommodate the projectile. We are looking forward to Snake Armor He-Man joining the Origins line in 2023!

If you want more backstory on Snake Armor He-Man, his MOTU Classics bio sheds some light on this new version:
When the Snake Men returned to Eternia from their banishment in the Void, Adam used the Power of Grayskull to create upgraded armor more adapted to combat his new reptilian enemy. Equipped with a venom-proof shield and a cordite snake pincher. Adam is now fully protected in his Snake Armor, ready to fight off King Hssss and his army of snake warriors! Eventually, Adam was forced to used his armor to battle against his former friend and mentor Duncan who had been hideously transformed by the Serpent’s Ring into a Snake Man. Refusing to kill Duncan, Adam’s Snake Armor was destroyed by Snake Man-At-Arms’ newly invented neutralizer blaster which could disrupt the Power of Grayskull itself!

Tung Lashor
We get a look at Tung Lashor as well! Just as predicted in our Snake Men coming to MOTU Origins in 2023! , He is seen on the side of the Grayskull Tower.

Tung Lashor’s action feature is controlled by a ridged dial embedded in the middle of his back. Turning the dial causes his long, flexible tongue to extend from his open mouth, simulating a quick, lashing strike. This feature pairs perfectly with his snake-like head sculpt, bright yellow eyes, and fanged mouth, giving the vintage Masters of the Universe figure an interactive, reptilian attack that adds to his menacing Snake Men persona.

Tung Lashor comes equipped with a blue crossbow styled with insect-like wing details and a dark blue staff topped with a coiled snake, its head raised and mouth open as if ready to strike.

The vintage Masters of the Universe Tung Lashor packaging features a vivid red and orange card with the MOTU logo at the top and the Snake Men emblem beneath it, showing two green serpents flanking a wide-open snake mouth behind the character’s name. The front window displays Tung Lashor in the blister bubble, revealing his bright orange chest with the green snake emblem, purple-and-pink body patterning, and both of his accessories tucked at the bottom. A callout on the left notes his forked tongue feature, which lashes out to strike enemies. On the back, the card art depicts Tung Lashor emerging from swampy reeds, stunning an unsuspecting foe with his extended tongue. Below the scene, illustrated instructions show how to activate his action feature by turning the dial on his back to shoot the tongue out, then turning it in the opposite direction to retract it. The bottom panel highlights his two included weapons—a serpent staff and a dragonfly crossbow—emphasizing his dual attack capabilities.
