Yo Joe! I have been so excited to get my hands on this one, and now that he’s here, I can tell you the wait was absolutely worth it. The G.I. Joe Classified Series Legacy Collection has been doing something really special by honoring the roots of the franchise, reaching all the way back to that original 1964 Action Figure that started it all. While the mainline Classified Series gives us our Cobra Commanders and Snake Eyes, the Legacy Collection takes a different path, celebrating the everyday heroes and real-world adventurers that made G.I. Joe a household name in the first place. Action Joe himself has deep roots in the franchise’s international history, and seeing him get the modern Classified treatment in this Avalanche Response configuration just feels right. And let me tell you, Hasbro packed this guy to the brim. We’re talking 14 accessory pieces here, including an alternate head, an adjustable optic helmet, goggles, a hood, skis with poles, snowshoes, a taser, a flare gun, a backpack, and a foldable stretcher. That stretcher alone had me grinning when I pulled it out of the box. The level of thought that went into kitting out this snow rescue specialist is seriously impressive, and every piece feels purposeful and connected to the character’s mission profile. The sculpt work captures that rugged, cold-weather operator look beautifully, and the deco has a crispness to it that photographs incredibly well. He’s got that classic adventurer energy that reminds me why I fell in love with G.I. Joe as a kid. So let’s take a look at the G.I. Joe Classified Series Legacy Collection Action Joe Avalanche Response in hand review! We want to give a huge thanks to Big Bad Toy Store for sending us this GI Joe Classified Series Legacy Collection Action Joe Avalanche Response for review, and if he has been on your must have list, you can still grab him now at Big Bad Toy Store. I had a lot of fun shooting these images, and no I didn’t take him out to the snow in this late summer heat in So Cal, so I took some photoshop liberties with the background. So I hope you enjoy these images with a little bit of mountain goodness in the backgrounds! Here are some fun shots of Action Joe out in the field with the red foldable stretcher deployed alongside him, its “Mountain Patrol” insignia printed in blue and white adding a nice official rescue-team touch to the accessory. The skis snap cleanly onto those black boots, and the ski poles have a great proportional look, thin enough to feel realistic without being flimsy. Looks like he had to come to the rescue of Frostbite who took a spill while snowboarding!

Packaging
The packaging features an icy blue upper section with a snowy mountain landscape that sets the tone for the arctic rescue theme. Through the window, you can see Action Joe loaded with an impressive spread of accessories, including a red helmet, gray backpack stamped with “RESCUE,” skis, poles, snowshoes, a foldable stretcher, and what looks like a flare gun in yellow.

The back of the box features a stylized photo of Action Joe carving through a snowy mountainside in full avalanche rescue gear, skis cutting into the powder. Along the right side, three shield-shaped callouts highlight the alternate hooded head, the taser, and the helmet with its adjustable optic and dual-lamp headgear.

Here’s a closer look at the side of the box, where a small illustrated rendering of Action Joe in his full avalanche rescue gear sits near the bottom, decked out in a bold red and gray suit with a yellow flare gun at the ready. The narrow window gives you a peek at the figure’s red gear and some of the accessories nestled alongside him in the tray.

The opposite side panel features a full-bleed illustration of Action Joe battling through a blizzard, his amber-tinted goggles glowing against the cold blues and grays of the arctic environment. I like how the artwork leans into a gritty, comic-style rendering with heavy snow particles swirling around his fur-lined hood and ski poles.

Here’s a closer look at the full accessory tray with Action Joe removed from the outer packaging. The sheer volume packed in here is impressive, with 14 pieces total including the gray tactical backpack stamped “RESCUE,” a pair of snowshoes, a red foldable stretcher, a fur-lined hood, and a spare balaclava head, all organized neatly alongside the skis, poles, and that little yellow taser.

Figure Details
Clad in a bold red and black tactical suit, Action Joe has a great mix of sculpted pockets, pouches, and black paneling running down the torso and legs that break up the red nicely. The gray fur-lined collar frames the black balaclava head well, and those blue medic-style patches on each shoulder add a small but effective pop of color against the red.

From this side profile, you can see how the black utility belt sits low on the waist with a holster molded onto the thigh, complete with a sculpted pistol grip peeking out. The black boots have a nice chunky tactical look to them, with a clean separation where they meet the red pants just below the knee.

Here’s a closer look at the back of Action Joe, where you get a full view of the gray holster hanging off the left hip and that small port hole in the upper back, likely for pegging in the rescue backpack. The sculpted wrinkles and folds running across the red suit have a nice padded, insulated texture to them, and the black elbow pads and wrist guards add some tactical layering as your eye moves down the arms.

One detail I really like is the blue and white “MEDIC” patch on the upper arm, which is crisply printed and sits right where the shoulder meets the bicep, framing it neatly between the black tactical paneling. The sculpted pouches and buckle closures along the forearm and thigh have a satisfying density to them, each one slightly different in size and shape rather than copy-pasted.

You can see how this rescue scene really comes together, with Action Joe hauling a downed Frostbite on the red stretcher. The snowshoes have a great sculpted detail with yellow accents on the binding clips, and they attach securely to the boots, giving the figure a completely different silhouette compared to the ski setup.

I’m really digging this rescue scene, with Action Joe closing in on a downed Frostbite sprawled in the snow while the red stretcher rides strapped across his back, ready for extraction. The gray “RESCUE” backpack sits snugly alongside the stretcher.

Outfitted with the dark gray helmet and blue-tinted goggles, Action Joe’s headgear has a sleek, low-profile fit that wraps tightly around the balaclava, and the adjustable optic flipped up on the forehead is a cool little functional touch. The red ski bindings lock onto the boots with a satisfying snap of color contrast against the gray skis, tying the whole cold-weather loadout together.

Sporting the cream and olive winter gear, the second figure here makes a great visual contrast next to Action Joe’s red avalanche suit, and that dark blue snowboard with its mountain graphic is a fun complement to the ski setup. The red stretcher propped between them sells the rescue-team vibe, and I like how the “Mountain Patrol” insignia ties it to Action Joe’s loadout. He looks great standing next to Frostbite with his snowboard.

Action Joe’s stretcher has a great folding hinge design with black reinforcement straps segmenting each section, and that circular “Mountain Patrol” insignia printed near the top gives it a real agency-issued feel. The ski poles are nicely proportioned with small pointed tips at the base, and the yellow flare gun tucked into his grip is a fun little detail that’s easy to miss at first glance.

The red foldable stretcher really dominates this shot, and the sculpted fabric wrinkles across each panel section give it a convincing, padded feel that looks like it could genuinely support a body. Those black reinforcement straps and the twin antenna stalks rising from the top corners sell it as a serious piece of rescue equipment rather than just a flat slab of red plastic.

Action Joe’s snowshoes have a chunky, industrial look up close, with thick gray frames and those yellow binding clips adding a splash of color near the toes. The ski poles feature small loop grips at the top that the figure’s hands wrap around naturally, and the ski poles have a nice scale-appropriate taper down to their pointed tips.

Here’s a closer look at Action Joe’s helmet setup, where the dual-lamp headgear mounted on top has a nicely sculpted cluster of cylindrical tubes that give it a real night-vision or searchlight feel. Here you can see him with his alternate head sculpt which has a subtle sculpted brow ridges framing the narrow eye slit, and the chin strap and oxygen mask hardware on the lower face add a layered, functional complexity to the whole head assembly.

Wrapped in that bold red avalanche suit, Action Joe looks right at home trekking through the snow with ski poles in both hands and the gray tactical backpack loaded up behind him. The fur-lined hood sits naturally around his neck here, and you can see how the balaclava head peeks out just enough beneath the helmet to show a narrow strip of skin around the eyes.

A close-up reveals the incredible texture work on that fur-lined hood, with every individual tuft sculpted in tight, rippled rows that give it a convincingly thick, insulating look around the goggles. The small blue and white circular “Mountain Patrol” patch on the chest sits right at the vest line, and the gray and red color blocking across the collar and shoulders creates a clean, professional rescue-team uniform feel.

Something I appreciate here is how the alternate hooded head completely transforms the figure’s look, with that cream-colored fur lining framing the blue-tinted goggles and black face mask to create a much more weathered, field-ready appearance than the helmet setup. The blue and white medic insignia on the shoulder and the matching patch on the chest vest pop against all that red, and the gray tactical vest’s zippered pockets and MOLLE-style webbing have a satisfying level of sculpted depth up close. You will notice that his snow shoes fit into the slot on his backpack nicely.
