At the DC Mattel Collector Line Preview at New York Comic Con 2026, Mattel showed prototype parts that explain how it is approaching the new DC Collector line, alongside an in-person look at the DC Premium Batman: Hush Rooftop Bat-Signal Diorama Set. The prototypes were not presented as finished figure reveals. Instead, they demonstrated a broader plan for DC heroes to stand “eye to eye” with figures from established collectible lines, without obvious scale or design differences getting in the way of a mixed display. That adds some useful context to the booth information Mattel previously shared in our DC Collector figure line update, particularly for anyone already collecting across several brands. The Hush set turns the 2002–2003 Batman story arc into a Gotham rooftop display with a movable Bat-Signal, a push-button mist effect and a signal that can project the bat symbol onto a chosen surface. Its 8.5-inch-wide by 3.5-inch-deep rooftop base also separates into two sections, giving the Batman figure more than one way to be arranged around it. DC Design Prototypes

The prototype hand sculpts include two clenched fists and two open palms, with defined knuckles, fingernails, palm lines and creases around the fingers. It’s a small detail, but the hands already have more character than simple generic swaps.

Here’s a look at a prototype hand gripping an accessory to demonstrate its design. Even at this early stage, these are surprisingly fine, slender sculpts.

The full-body prototype has a broad, muscular build with a stern head sculpt and a close-fitting suit broken up by a raised collar, chest panel, trunks and boots. The plain gray finish really lets the sculpted anatomy and construction stand on their own.

The separate upper-torso shell is easy to make out around the neck, shoulders and lower edge, giving us a useful look at how this prototype body is assembled.

Together, the full-body study and separate hand parts make the purpose of this display clear: Mattel is previewing the construction and sculpting approach for the new DC Collector line rather than revealing a finished character.

The bright blue cape is the standout here, with deep folds down the back and a ragged lower edge cut into long, uneven points. I love that this one part has color, because it immediately gives the otherwise gray prototype display some character.

The accessory prototypes include a long, straight-bladed sword and a detailed rifle sculpt with a curved magazine, ribbed foregrip, compact optic and open stock. I’m especially interested in the rifle because it has nearly as much mechanical detail as the larger body studies.

Batman Hush Dio Booth Images

The box art shows Batman perched on a stone gargoyle above Gotham, with the moon hanging over a dense skyline. I love how his enormous black cape spreads across the city and makes this feel like a full Hush illustration rather than ordinary product packaging.

The rooftop gives Batman a properly cluttered Gotham setting, with pipes, vents and a raised ledge surrounding the large movable Bat-Signal. The base also separates into two sections, which should make the whole diorama much easier to work into a display.

The back of the Bat-Signal has twin grab handles, a recessed access panel and heavy silver scuffing around the rim. I love the thick cable running down through the support, because it makes the whole thing look like battered rooftop equipment.

Batman wears the classic gray suit with dark blue gloves, boots, cowl and cape, finished with a black chest emblem and bright yellow utility belt. The exaggerated musculature and stern white-eyed face fit the heavy Jim Lee look of Hush especially well.

Batman’s enormous blue cape spreads into a broad sweep behind him, ending in long, uneven points that capture the exaggerated Hush look beautifully.

The push-button atmospheric mist effect curls around Batman and the Bat-Signal, giving the rooftop a suitably hazy Gotham atmosphere.

The thick stitched edging gives Batman’s cape a more finished look than a simple cut piece of fabric, though the pale thread stands out sharply against the blue.

Batman’s boots have angular cuffs, raised shin panels and deeply treaded soles, while the folds around his knees keep the gray suit from looking like bare sculpted anatomy.

The Bat-Signal’s translucent yellow face has the black bat emblem layered over raised circular and curved details, all enclosed by a thick riveted rim. I like that it isn’t just a flat yellow disc, because the molded detail gives the front some real depth.

Private Viewing Images

We were invited to a private event hosted by Mattel and the DC team at New York Comic Con, where we got an early look at some of what’s coming to the DC lineup. Most of what we saw is under embargo until January 2027, but we were given permission to share this Batman: Hush diorama! The display features Batman alongside a working Bat-Signal, a Gotham City rooftop base, and packaging featuring artwork inspired by Jim Lee’s Batman: Hush.

Batman has the classic blue-and-gray Hush look, with a broad chest, heavily sculpted musculature and a stern, square-jawed head sculpt. I really like the large cloth cape draped over his shoulders, while the worn paint on the chest emblem and utility belt gives the suit a suitably weathered finish.

The rooftop diorama gives Batman a chunky Bat-Signal, industrial pipes and a rough stone parapet capped by a wonderfully grumpy little gargoyle. That wrinkled gargoyle is the detail I keep coming back to, making the base feel like a piece of Gotham rather than a plain display stand.

Up close, the Bat-Signal has a green-tinted lens with the black bat emblem set in front of several individual reflector shapes. I love that extra depth inside the riveted housing instead of a plain printed disc.

The cape is impressively long, but the exposed stitching and frayed outer edge are hard to ignore.

The base mixes dark brickwork with pale stone trim, while the arched architectural panel and small vent keep the lower wall from looking like a plain slab.
