Ripped right from the Masters of the Universe movie from 1987 comes the Masterverse movie version of He-man the most powerful man in the Universe for this hands on review!
Deluxe Movie He-Man was announced back in Aug, and there were mixed reviews about He-Man’s face sculpt. Well, I have to say, that Mattel listened, and the new in hand head sculpts are vastly improved which he got 2 new looks!! He now comes with a new vintage style head, which looks to be an all new sculpt and new interpretation on his classic head sculpt! The alternate head is supposed to resemble his movie counterpart, Dolph Lundgren. It is great to see all of the weapons and accessories for this figure! He Man shares the original He-Man buck, rather than the new bulkier 40th Anniversary buck, which is a little disappointing. The first images of this head were not very impressive, but now having this figure in hand, they have improved it. He comes with bronze-colored chest and shoulder armor with a brown wash, with a ton of wonderful detail He is even wearing bicep straps and a movie styled wrist bracer on his left wrist. He comes with several knife holsters, one on his waist and another on his ankle. He also has a sword holster on his back as well., but weirdly it goes thru his cape. There is also a short sword in a holster on his right hip. Movie He-Man is also wearing a very nice looking red soft goods cape with some nice gold trim detail pattern at the bottom.

Masters of the Universe: The Motion Picture
Masters of the Universe the Movie came put in 1987 and instantly became a cult classic. He-Man was played by the great Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella as Skeletor. Somewhat of a departure from the classic He-Man story, Masters of the Universe: The Motion Picture has is place in cinema history and is still a fan favorite.

Put the two pieces of art together can you get a really amazing cosmic scene that immortalizes the struggle between He-Man and Skeletor that was portrayed on the silver screen in 1987.

Figure Details
Dressed in his Motion Picture design outfit, He-Man features some new sculpted parts for his accessories and uses the original He-Man buck. He-Man’s head sculpt is supposed to resemble his movie counterpart, Dolph Lundgren. His bronze-colored chest and shoulder armor have a lot of wonderful detail sculpted into them and he is even wearing bicep straps that are sculpted onto huis arms. He has on one movie styled wrist bracer on his left wrist to resemble his look in the movie. He-Man has several knife holsters, one on his waist that has a leather like brown look with bronze accents. The second one is on his ankle and is colored in the same dark brown color as his boot. Movie He-Man also includes a holster for his pistol, which is a first for He-Man as he typically doesn’t come with a pistol. He also has a very interesting sword holster on his back as well. .And to top is all off, Movie He-Man is also wearing a very nice looking red soft goods cape with some nice gold detail pattern at the bottom of it.

Head portraits
Movie He-Man includes 2 head portraits, one to resemble his movie counterpart, Dolph Lundgren, and the second a a new vintage style head! This is an all new sculpt, and not simply a reuse of the 40th Anniversary head, as we will show you.

The alternate head sculpt is vintage inspired and an all new sculpt, not just a reuse of the 40th Anniversary head. I think they did a great job on this new head sculpt.

40th left, Movie He-Man right
For those of you wondering how the 40th anniversary head looks on this figure, we did the work for you. You can see that the skin tone doesn’t match well. The alternative head that this figure comes with looks so much better on this version of He-Man.
Don’t get me wrong, as I love the 40th Anniversary He-Man and that head sculpt really looks gorgeous on that figure. It just doesn’t go well on this version because the skin tones just don’t match. Cape Details
He-Man comes with a soft goods cape that has a hard plastic bronze shoulder pauldrons attached to it, that makes it appear that his cape is flowing into them. These shoulder pieces have quite a bit of detail on them with intricate bronze detailed carvings on them that provides an extra level of detail!

The sword sheath is hidden behind his cape and is connected by a series of leather like brown straps. It hangs down so that the tip of the sword goes into it. It swivels, so that is moves easier to slide the sword into. The sheath itself looks leather like as well. It is a brown color and has some very nice gold colored accents.

Upper Body
Movie He-Man has very detailed bronze shoulder pauldrons on both his shoulders. They have a ton of carved detail and a nice brown wash over them. He-Man is also wearing brown bicep straps as well. that have a bronze-colored diamond shaped detailed piece in the middle with a small red dot. He-Man is wearing a bronze wrist bracer on his left wrist, and that is very detailed as well, which matches the style of his shoulder pauldrons.

Movie He man has a brown plain brown loin cloth but it is surrounded by a series of belts that give alot of detail and a layered look. His belt buckle has some nice detail and matches the crest on his chest. He also has 2 holsters attached to his waist, one is a knife sheath on his right hip. And the second is a pistol sheath on his left hip. We will take a closer look at each below.
Movie He-Man’s chest and back are very detailed as well. His chest armor is made of a series of brown leather like straps that are buckled together at the center of his chest. Here the straps meet up with a bronze-colored crest that looks to be some sort of serpent design with a brown wash over it to reveal all the details.

Lower Body
Let’s start where we left off above with the sheaths that Movie He-Man is sporting on his waist. He has a brown leather like knife sheath with beautiful bronze accents on his right hip. Here he stows his larger of the two knives. His knife has a bronze handle with a silver blade.
On his left hip, he is wearing a pistol holster. The holster is in a lighter brown color and has some white accent lines on it.
Both holsters are permanently attached to his belt and are not removeable.

He is then sporting a knife sheath on his right boot that is a dark brown color that matches his boots.
His boots are dark brown in color and have a set of straps sculpted around them. He has very large ankle guards that are also bronze with a brown wash. They have a ton of detail sculpted into them as well, which match the same style as his shoulder pauldrons. These really finish off He-Man’s outfit very well and really give him a grand look that harkens back to the 1997 film.

Accessories
Movie He-Man comes with these included accessories:
- Movie Inspired Power Sword
- Ankle dagger
- Knife
- 2 alternate hands
- Pistol
- Alternate vintage style head

The power sword that comes included with He-Man is supposed to be reminiscent of the sword from the movie. It has a bronze and brown hilt with a silver blade. This is an all-new design to He-Man’s power sword, unlike any other that has come in the Masterverse line in the past.

Movie He-Man comes with 2 knifes. One is a larger knife that stows in the knife sheath on his right hip. That one has a nicely detailed bronze handle and silver blade.
The second knife is smaller and has a much simpler design. This is more of a dagger and stows away in the knife sheath on He-Man’s right boot.

Movie He-Man also includes this black plastic pistol. I don’t recall if He-Man used a pistol in the movie. But this has a bit of a futuristic design and is the first pistol to be included with a He-Man figure in the Masterverse line.
This pistol stows away on the pistol holster on He-Man’s left hip, that we covered above.

The figure looks AMAZING. I did notice that the figure is reversed from the movie poster. The knife and pistol are on opposite sides. I would have to look to see which is incorrect.
