He-Man MOTU Core In-Hand Images and Review by Popheist

When early samples start making their way into the hands of reviewers, it gives all of us a clearer picture of what is really coming, and Zach Oat from Popheist is helping set that tone after receiving both the MOTU Chronicles Tri-Klops and this Core Wave 1 He-Man directly from Mattel for review. Now, we’ve already seen early in-hand images of He-Man (and Wave 1) but Zach’s photos are fire and he also breaks the figure down! What makes this particularly compelling to me is that we are not just looking at a single figure spotlight, but at two distinct tiers from the upcoming Masters of the Universe toy launch unfolding side by side. Seeing both in hand at the same time really underscores Mattel’s dual-lane strategy for supporting the film at retail. And if you are curious about how that Core body is engineered, especially from a sculpt and articulation standpoint, our deep dive on the Gold Acala Skeletor becomes essential viewing because that review breaks down the Core Skeletor buck in detail, giving you a strong reference point for how this new Core He-Man is likely constructed.

The Masters of the Universe Core He-Man comes packed in a standard blister card with vibrant split artwork behind the bubble, featuring a live-action styled He-Man portrait on one side and Skeletor on the other. The figure is secured upright in the tray with his Power Sword positioned alongside him, clearly visible through the front window. We have seen this exact carded presentation before in our earlier in-hand article and again displayed at Toy Fair 2026, so it is not a surprise, but it is great to finally see it circulating more widely in hand.

The back of the card features a dramatic Eternian landscape with Castle Grayskull rising in the distance, lava flowing beneath a stone bridge as He-Man stands front and center raising the Sword of Power. Beast Man is shown cracking his whip on an upper ledge while Teela stands ready with her sword, reinforcing the Wave 1 lineup. A character bio panel for He-Man appears on the left with a stat breakdown chart listing Strength, Combat, Intelligence, Magic, and Tech, followed by “The Adventure Continues!” callout near the lower right. The lower section contains the legal text, assortment numbers, and barcode panel, which you can use at local stores to see if they have the figure in stock.

He-Man is shown posed with his Power Sword raised, giving a clear look at the vintage-inspired head sculpt, layered chest harness, and red cross emblem centered on the armor. The darker gray skirt armor, matching bracers, and boots contrast against the lighter skin tone, while the blue sword stands out cleanly in hand. Zach absolutely crushed this shot, as the fiery background and ember effects frame the figure perfectly and really show off the sculpt, paint applications, and overall presentation in a way that makes the details pop without distracting from the figure itself.

The rear view highlights the sculpted strap work across He-Man’s back, the textured belt, and the layered skirt armor with etched detailing along the edges. The Power Sword stores securely on his back via the harness, sitting diagonally and showing off the full blade length from this angle. The bracers and boots feature molded panel lines and strap details, while the leg cuts and articulation points are visible from behind. Huge kudos to Zach once again, as the lighting and fiery backdrop bring out the sculpted textures and make this back view just as outstanding as the front shot.

Zach stripped He-Man down to his tight and curlies here, showing that the chest harness and skirt armor are fully removable pieces. With the armor off, you get a clean look at the torso sculpt, including the defined chest, segmented ab crunch, and layered abdominal detailing that carries the classic heroic proportions. The bracers and boots remain in place, framing the more streamlined look, while the removed harness and skirt are displayed in front to clearly show how they separate from the figure. Once again, kudos to Zach for capturing this so clearly, as the lighting highlights the sculpted anatomy and articulation cuts without washing out the details.
