Snake Lair MOTU Origins Update + Evil Viper Lady Slither

I have to admit, every time we get a meaningful update on the Snake Lair, I feel that little jolt of excitement that takes me right back to why I love collecting Masters of the Universe in the first place, and this latest update from Mattel Creations absolutely delivers that feeling in a big way. Aside from the figure we saw at SDCC 2025, we are getting an updated look at a model of Evil Viper Lady Slither, and she is shaping up to be something really special for MOTU Origins collectors. She will feature two distinct looks, transforming from her signature serpent-tail form into a two-legged form, which instantly opens up display options. That kind of versatility feels right at home in the Origins line, especially as it continues to expand deeper into Snake Men territory. On top of that, Mattel Creations made it clear that the team is still hard at work refining the finishing details on the Snake Lair playset itself, crediting fan support for helping bring this dream project closer to reality. And if that was not enough, they also shared an early concept drawing for the updated Snake Lair design, giving us a true behind-the-scenes glimpse at where this is headed. As someone who grew up loving the 1980s playsets, I cannot help but get hyped seeing these early development teases take shape in real time.

Snake Lair Early Concept Drawing

The early design concept sketch for the MOTU Origins Snake Lair playset lays out a multi-section fortress carved into a massive serpent motif, with the central throne room framed by a towering snake head relief whose eyes glow red and whose fanged mouth arches over a stone throne flanked by vertical torches. A working ladder climbs up the rear tower to a mounted blaster cannon on the roof, while a coiled snake wraps along the upper ledge, adding to the layered, fortress-like silhouette. The lower center features a barred gate entry with heavy, twisted columns, and just behind it sits an iron maiden chamber, giving the lair a dungeon feel right from the front approach. Off to one side, there is a tech-inspired section with an elevator shaft, control panels, and screens stacked into a mechanical wall, contrasted by a dedicated weapons rack accessory that holds spears and staffs. On the opposite side, a giant sculpted snake head juts outward with a hinged jaw that reveals a hidden blaster inside, and beneath it sits a capture device chamber with a vertical containment structure and coiling serpent details wrapping around the base. The sketch clearly maps out multiple play zones in one footprint, blending dungeon traps, hidden weapons, and elevated attack points into a single connected Snake Men stronghold.

Evil Viper Lady Slither

Evil Viper Lady Slither is shown here in both prototype and test shot form, and I can already see how ambitious this release is going to be. In her two-legged form, she features a skull-inspired face framed by a gold helmet with a crest at the top, red shoulder armor, and a black soft goods cape that hangs down the back with distressed cut details along the bottom. Her torso has layered armor elements with red and green deco across the chest, red forearm guards, red boots, and she wields a long, twisted snake staff cast in gold. The overall color blocking is sharp, with muted green limbs contrasted by bold red accents and metallic gold on the helmet and collar. The turnaround shots show her alternate configuration with a fully sculpted serpent lower half that replaces the legs, forming a long coiled tail with textured scales. From the rear, the cape drapes over the upper body while bright pink hair flows down the back, and the green face pops against the darker armor. The test shot also reveals an unpainted snake tail in black plastic and a separate upper torso piece without armor, highlighting the modular construction. Seeing the parts swapped out like this really drives home how she transitions from standing warrior to full serpent form.

We also streamed live from the booth and got an interview with Pixel Dan at the end to hear his thoughts on the new Snake Lair. Unfortunately, it looks like we lost our signal and only got a few seconds of his interview and we missed our final thoughts and wrap up.
