King Grayskull Deluxe Masters of the Universe Revelation Review
Check out this majestic King Grayskull Revelation Review! This is a must have for your Masters of the Universe collection!

Summary
King Grayskull, the latest figure added to the Masters of the Revelation line, is a Target exclusive figure so be on the hunt as they are showing up in stores now! This latest Masterverse figure is a fantastic translation of how King Grayskull appeared in the Masters of the Universe Revelation animated series and like the show or not, this figure is off the charts fantastict! Getting the deluxe treatment, the wired cape with furry collar is the centerpiece of the figure, while the two halves of the Sword of Power steal the show! All in all, King Grayskull is a must have for your collection as it is beautifully executed!
Box and Art
Getting the Masters of the Universe Revelation deluxe window display treatment, King Grayskull’s pose with the gold Power Sword is something that in box collectors will be clamoring for since all of the accessories and weapons are beautifully displayed in clear view! He is packed with his alternate fierce looking head sculpt alongside his more docile, regal looking sculpt. The back of the box is outstanding as you can see King Grayskull with both halves of the sword of power with a very cool energy effect running between them! Did we really need Roboto to forge the two swords back together? Looking at this image, I think King Grayskull would have faired just fine on his own!

The side of the box shows the more docile and regal look of King Grayskull as he has just united the two halves of the Power Sword into a single majestic blade. The box art on the side (and the back for that matter) do a wonderful job capturing both looks of King Grayskull. In the background of the side art, you can also see the sun setting over the majestic Eternian towers, creating a beautifully peaceful scene.

Netflix Revelation Cartoon Look
Looking like he was ripped right out of the TV screen, Mattel did an amazing job, (like they usually do), translating the Revelation Netflix cartoon appearance into an action figure! King Grayskull is no exception as the fur collar, wrist, and belt look like his cartoon counterpart.

Head Sculpt
King Grayskull comes packed with his fierce looking head sculpt where he is bearing his teeth. I think they did an amazing job making his sneer or snarl look realistic with the way that the cheek bones were sculpted as well as teeth! The eyebrows are furrowed and eyes have a squinting appearance to them, completing the look!

The hair sculpt is amazing on this figure as the texture and style look like real hair! There are two braids that lay in the front and one single braid that lays in the back that are tied off with red hair ties. The hair is also layered and has an amazing gold cross style clip on the back of the head that ads an extra layer of depth and dimension to his already fantastic head sculpt.

He also comes with an alternate head sculpt that is more docile, regal, and pensive. The face looks natural and he has the same hair sculpt but with a different face to you can give him many looks to your taste.

Cape
Mattel is known for creating quality soft goods pieces and King Grayskull’s cape is no exception! It is made of a thick fabric (like the Mattel Creation Scare Glow cape) with a thick wire so you can pose the cape in a manner of your choosing. The stitching on the fabric is impeccable and really gives this figure a deluxe feel! The braid rests nicely on the furry collar, which is very thick and fluffy! The collar is also substantial and makes this cape stand out from other soft goods Mattel has created!

Taking a close look at the collar and construction of the cape, the material of the collar resembles that of an UGG type boot and is meant to cover King Grayskull’s shoulders. The cape has two velcro straps that wrap around the armor so you can remove it without having to take the armor off.

The stitching and quality of the cape is the same level of craftsmanship as the Mattel Creations Scare Glow cape but King Grayskull’s version has the addition of the fuzzy collar, which required and extra piece of fabric to hold it on. Using the same thick wire, you can pose the cape and it has the same (or similar) tattered and work look like Scare Glow’s.

Chest and Back
The chest armor features a circular symbol resembling that of He-Man but with a 6 sided burst in the middle of the armor. Painted in a nice red and gold motif, the armor is very simple and thin and is not so large that it detracts from the overall look of the figure. The straps on the armor have some rivets along them and there are two points where the armor connects in the back.

Arms / Waist / Legs
The arms, waist, and legs use the standard Masters of the Universe Revelation buck with some color variation. The wrist cuffs feature a nice brown and gold paint app and even the rivets on the cuffs get the gold treatment, which is a very nice touch.

Unlike Viking He-Man, King Grayskull features the furry loin cloth with a tan textured color to it. The belt is also painted in the same brown and gold as the wrist cuffs, giving it a more leathery look and feel.

The legs are a standard sculpt but feature the UGG style boot with the fur flowing over the top of them.

Taking a closer look at the boots, you can see the same colors were used for the fur part, which ties in very nicely to the loin cloth. The boots are very well done and feature a brown base with black straps in a criss cross pattern. The black straps add that extra level of detail you would expect from a deluxe figure whereas some of the standard figures that have been produced in the line just feature a single color for the entire boot.

Weapons and Accessories
King Grayskull comes packed with two extra hands, an alternate head sculpt, a shield, and two halves of the Sword of Power.

Hands
The figure comes with a close fisted hand as well as an open hand, which facilities King Grayskull holding his shield.

Shield
The shield that comes with King Grayskull is well executed and you can see the same symbol that adorns his armor in larger than life form on his shield. Painted in the same red and gold tones as the armor, the shield is very unique and gives King Grayskull a great look once he puts it on. To my surprise, the other side of the shield features gold handles and straps, giving it more of that deluxe feel!

Alternate Head Sculpt
To increase the displayabilty of the figure, King Grayskull comes with an alternate head sculpt that gives him a more serious and pensive look. The face structure is well executed and the cheek bones and angles to the face are all in the right places to pull off this majestic look!

Power Swords
We FINALLY get to see life imitating art with the two halves of the Sword of Power in all of their glory! The gold sword is meant to represent the heroic side and the purple sword is meant to represent the evil side, each with their own style and flare!
Purple
The purple Sword of Power features a hooked sword design and a unique cross guard where one side flares up and the other flares down. The hilt is studded and the bottom of the handle appears to have a bone look to it, possibly to represent Skeletor. The paint app on the sword is a shiny, metallic silver that has just the right amount of sheen to it.

Gold
The gold sword is a beautiful piece that is intricately detailed. The sword itself has more of a standard shape with the same silvery, metallic paint app that the purple sword featured. The cross guard is very fancy, with one side flaring up and the other side is flaring off the to the side. The hilt has more of a standard look to it and if you can imagine the purple and gold swords coming together, they would share this hilt.

Geared Up
The cool part about King Grayskull are the many types of poses and displayability options you can do with this figure. I like putting his more docile head sculpt on with his cape as this gives him a more majestic look.

I like putting his fierce head sculpt on without his cape as it gives him a ready for battle look! Besides, he would not want to wreck his cape battling the Evil Warriors.

Ratings
Michael: Overall, I would give this figure a 6.5 out of 7! Mattel did an amazing job translating the figure from the Revelation series, providing deluxe accessories that are beautifully executed. The wire cape is a bonus and I love the coloring on the figure. The power swords look fantastic and I happy we finally get the two halves of the power sword and we did not have to wait for a Roboto, which is coming soon!
